A dinosaur movie not attached to the Jurassic franchise? in!
1007
Existing_Set2100 Mar 26, 2026 +260
Twilight Zone meets Jurassic Park? I’ll allow it.
260
HenryDorsettCase47 Mar 26, 2026 +56
For real. Like a cross between “The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street” and “The Odyssey of Flight 33” episodes.
56
Existing_Set2100 Mar 26, 2026 +20
Instantly thought of Maple Street haha.  It has to be intentional. Other than the dinos and whatever else it’s basically the same setup, and yeah the name seems to allude to it. That and Nightmare on Elm Street a bit maybe.  “F*** your placid suburban neighborhood.”
20
neverseenghosts Mar 26, 2026 +3
Refresh my memory as it’s been a while but how is this similar to the Maple Street episode?
3
Existing_Set2100 Mar 26, 2026 +6
Major block of a typical American suburban neighborhood is blocked off and sequestered by a mysterious force of at least initially inexplicable origin, either nobody is able to leave or they’re given an otherwise bizarrely compelling reason to stay (in the tv episode, cars mysteriously malfunction), hijinks ensue.  There’s a similarity to the Shyamalan movie Old too, though that one obviously takes on a very different setting.
6
Luke92612_ Mar 26, 2026 +11
It feels like a direct inspiration from that one Outer Limits episode where a neighborhood gets whisked away by aliens so they can determine whether or not the neighborhood's residents would make desirable slaves.
11
ZwVJHSPiMiaiAAvtAbKq Mar 26, 2026 +7
That's "A Feasibility Study" (S01E29) from the original series. It was also remade for the '90s Outer Limits reboot (S03E17). They're both solid episodes.

The ending of the original Outer Limits episode was so moving. "Will someone please take my hand?" Great episode.

There already is one in the trailer lol
5
South_Buy_3175 Mar 26, 2026 +24
Right?! I thought it was just gonna be a mystery/thriller with a unique premise. Throwing a dinosaur in there has just hooked me like a gullible fish
24
nowhereman136 Mar 26, 2026 +50
65 came out 2 years ago and Primitive War came out last year. Plus how could I not mention The VelociPastor. But your point is still valid. Given the success of Jurassic Park, it's weird we haven't gotten more big budget dinosaur movies. Even after the first movie, the only real dinosaur movies we got in the 90s was Godzilla and Flintstones
50
TequilaAndWeed Mar 26, 2026 +27
Speak not ill of The VelociPastor and its special effects budget.

tallandlankyagain Mar 26, 2026 +13
You didn't like Adam Driver featuring dinosaurs?
13
Luke92612_ Mar 26, 2026 +3
Primitive War was decent, only bad part for me was the very end where it jumps the shark a bit, but even then you can mental-gymnastics the ending into making sense I'll say that it was better than multiple Jurassic movies (namely Rebirth and Fallen Kingdom)
3
greenpill98 Mar 26, 2026 +36
4 years later: Movie Trailer BWAAAAA sound "The Crossover event of the year.... Jurassic World vs. End of Oak Street: Origins"
36
WadeGarrettWannabe Mar 26, 2026 +22
I still believe Universal would absolutely KILL with a Jurassic Park and Fast and Furious crossover. Everyone would know what it is and it should lean in. Jeff Goldblum explaining chaos theory to Vin Diesel and Vin’s retort is “I got family.” While Ludacris and Chris Pratt make a super team with tricked out cars commanded by Blue and her super-smart velociraptor gang. All to stop another one of Jason Statham’s long lost brothers who is helping InGen an Dr. Wu build a supercar for Indominous Rex to beat Dom at RaceWars. It will obviously smoke Hector! The ride at universal studios in July 2030 would also be a banger.
22
NjallTheViking Mar 26, 2026 +16
Jurassic Park is the perfect case for why directors should do covers of films like musicians. Like what do you mean we missed out on a darker R-rated James Cameron version? I want the Aliens of Jurassic Park to happen.
16
greenpill98 Mar 26, 2026 +6
"I say we take off and nuke the entire park from orbit. It's the only way to be sure,"
6
stingray20201 Mar 26, 2026 +3
So a more book accurate movie then
3
cweaver Mar 26, 2026 +4
I would 100% pay for a ticket for a movie where Chris Pratt and Ludacris are trying to teach velociraptors how to drive a stick shift. Bonus points if Blue hits a button to eject a villain out of the side of a car, and does a velociraptor roar, and the subtitles say "Ejecto-seato, cuz!"
4

This is 100% a movie listnook/the internet could write.

6
Middle-Welder3931 Mar 27, 2026 +2
I've been saying for years that Jurassic Fast should be a thing, as should The Fast and the Expendable. They could easily say that Lee Christmas and Deckard Shaw are just long lost twins. Double the Statham.
2
riegspsych325 Mar 26, 2026 +3
are we talking Origins like X-Men or Ouija?
3
i_am_carver Mar 26, 2026 +3
Dinosaurs, but with sweet beards?
3
GoldenGorder Mar 26, 2026 +11
Me too! Been saying this for years! Why does the Jurassic franchise get to have a monopoly on dinosaurs in film?!?! More movies with dinosaurs should exist!
11
South_Buy_3175 Mar 26, 2026 +5
They 1000% should, however they want JP box office numbers, anything else is frowned upon. The only other alive franchise that features dinosaurs is Primitive War and that’s about it, everything else is one-offs.
5
SkyNo2670 Mar 26, 2026 +8
I went frame by frame and I don’t think it’s a dinosaur. I think it’s meant to appear as one in the trailer, but if you look at the frames of the head and mouth it’s nothing like a dinosaur, I believe there’s multiple slits where the mouth opens. Maybe I’m trippin though.
8
2347564 Mar 26, 2026 +3
I think you’re right. I also think if this was a dinosaur movie they wouldn’t have this sort of tone in the trailer.
3
RealJohnGillman Mar 26, 2026 +6
Weren’t they talking about this being a dinosaur movie last year, of the director making a film about a street and its population being transported back in time?

jwick89 Mar 26, 2026 +47
I was wondering what he was up to. Luckily the They Follow sequel should be in production soon.
47
Weird_Snowman Mar 26, 2026 +13
SOON?! Damnit, I thought that was more of a coming out soon situation.
13
ILoveRegenHealth Mar 27, 2026 +2
Starts filming this year according to another article, and I imagine shouldn't take too long with post-production work (if the scope is somewhat similar to It Follows) so could I could easily see a March to summer 2027 release.
2
Existing_Set2100 Mar 26, 2026 +25
How is that btw? I loved It Follows but never got around to watching his other stuff.
25
Dylan245 Mar 26, 2026 +40
I love it but it's not for everyone, basically a neo noir with Andrew Garfield that's an ode to 70s conspiracy thrillers but with a more modern take
40
banjofitzgerald Mar 26, 2026 +22
It’s polarizing with one side hating it and the other still deciphering messages and images. It was surprisingly interactive.
22
killshelter Mar 26, 2026 +10
I enjoyed it. Watching Andrew Garfield mozy about LA was fun.
10
raassinemachine Mar 26, 2026 +13
Genuinely one of the best films made this century. Horribly mismanaged marketing by A24 and a tepid Cannes response basically made it a non-factor but people have caught up since then. It's obviously quite divisive in terms of general response, but I think it's a masterpiece
13
Brt232 Mar 26, 2026 +13
The movie as a whole is kind of a mess but its great at evoking dream logic conspiracy theory. Plus its got an all time great scene nestled within the insanity.
13
ThingTime9876 Mar 26, 2026 +9
I wonder if we’re thinking of the same great scene For me, it’s when he meets ‘the songwriter’
9
SomeSavageDetective Mar 26, 2026 +8
That's exactly what I was thinking. The part with the piano.
8
Brt232 Mar 26, 2026 +2
Yep, that's the one. I remember vague parts of the rest of the movie but that one stuck with me.
2
ThingTime9876 Mar 26, 2026 +2
Me too. It’s that scene that made me realise I need to be watching the film through a specific ‘Gen X burnout’ kinda lens
2
biggieBpimpin Mar 26, 2026 +6
Someone recently nailed my feelings about this movie. “As a puzzle, it’s fantastic. As a movie, it’s a horrible mess”. There was some puzzle/code expert consulted on the film so there is tons of hidden meaning and subtle messages. There is a whole rabbit hole where people that have dug into clues to figure out what the messages in the movie mean. Which in itself is kind of fun to read about. But to me, the movie felt like a psychosis fueled vehicle for all the random clues and hidden messaging without much actual substance for the story itself. I love some thriller, mystery, greater meaning type of films. But I wanted so much more from this one.

I definitely remember that episode. Weren't there like, mind control bad guys that created it?

Land of the Lost was a 70's TV show. Many people still remember it. Had dinosaurs and Sleestaks.

I’m referring specifically to the 90’s reboot of the 70’s show.

My immediate question is how the dinosaur made it up the sheer cliff that seems to be the edge of the street.

Well that's the edge in one direction.
41
riegspsych325 Mar 26, 2026 +46
it used the same invisible ramp as the T Rex in Jurassic Park
46
Internal_Wheel_89 Mar 26, 2026 +10
along these same lines, it would be cool if the same area from this prehistoric was transported to the 1970s. A pit of dinosaurs
10
Mister-Distance-6698 Mar 26, 2026 +7
But its not a HUGE area of land. So it would be funny if there was just one very confused Triceratops.

Anne Hathaway doesn't get enough credit for just being a good actress, with a wide variety of roles behind her. She's managed to not get type cast into one style of movie, and while you might not like a film she's in, she's rarely if ever the problem. She's also constantly working and putting stuff out.
23

If anyone sees anything ARG related please post it here!  Bad Robot is notorious for this! I believe they have made one for every film they produced, including the TV show,  LOST.
5
Metrokun Mar 27, 2026 +3
I'm not 100% convinced that this film is not related to the Cloverfield franchise honestly (could be a nice twist at the end, like for 10 Cloverfield Lane)
3

I don't think they did for the Star Wars films, but they did other fun things to promote them.
2
ClovieKay Mar 26, 2026 +13
When I saw the Bad Robot logo, I got excited to finally see JJ direct something that doesn’t have 50 million Disney executives pulling him in 200 directions. Disappointed he’s not directing, but also excited to see David Robert Mitchell back. It Follows was an awesome movie and cool sci-fi concepts to it.
13
openga_funk Mar 26, 2026 +7
Interesting. I saw bad robot and immediately lost excitement. Excited hes not the director
7

Yeah hard pass when I saw J.J. Abrams lol, but then to hear he's NOT directing - awesome
3

He has a new movie he directed releasing in November with Glen Powell starring called ‘The Great Beyond’ so you’ll get your wish soon enough.

JJ has a new movie coming out later this year btw. Its with Glen Powell and Jenna Ortega. The Great Beyond
4
RadicalAnalCheese Mar 26, 2026 +14
This movies original cut was more than 2hr 30min long, tested badly, went on hiatus for a few months, and then eventually cut down to 1 hr 30 minutes. Additionally, underwent two title changes. Could still be a fun movie but…who knows 🤷‍♂️

So weird not to have Disasterpiece doing the score for this one. I know JJ Abrams loves his Giacchino, but let the director bring his old score guy in.
6

Maybe Mitchell wanted to go in a different direction and thought Giacchino was a better fit for this one.

Looks vaguely similar to the idea from Arthur C Clarkes: *A Time Odyssey* final book series where sections of the earth are fractured and there are physical lines between eras of history. Looks cool, I hope it's good.

Is this basically the Drifting Classroom and Jurassic Park combined. Also, interesting to see the It Follows director deviate to this.

I have been so hyped for this movie since it was announced years ago. Looks awesome, can’t wait. I just hope it’s good and does well, we need more original big budget films!

Looks pretty cool.

From the cars it looks like they're from the 80s, before the "move" happened?

Wow, knew nothing of the film. Once I saw that the director of It Follows was behind, I was in. Teaser was solid!

Whenever people ask "where does Jurassic Park as a series go next?" I always say "it involves traveling back into the *actual* time periods and something going wrong," so I'm personally pretty excited for what seems like a version of that idea. Edit: Also I love that this is basically *The Mist* meets *Jurassic Park*.

I feel like this sub has always loved to shit on JJ, but in my opinion, having his name attached to a creative endeavor is always a net positive.

Nice double entendre title.

Anyone remembers a comic book called out there?

I know nearly nothing and I love it. It reminds me of how I felt as the trailers for SUPER 8 were coming out. Maybe I'm just a hopeless Bad Robot fanboy.

Ewan and dinosaurs are great, but we don't need kids in every dinosaur movie.

Upbeat_Tension_8077 Mar 26, 2026 +6
If only the reveal of the dinosaurs wasn't included, this teaser would've been amazing, but I'm still interested in this. I'm hoping there could be some additional reveals that can bring this close to the weirdness of Under the Silver Lake at a few points, even though this definitely seems like a more blockbuster-friendly film from David Robert Mitchell

they cant hide it. All the marketing is dinosaurs, including the original poster

Vladmerius Mar 26, 2026 +3
Dinosaurs is the whole hook lol. That's the reason I'm going to see it in theaters instead of wait for streaming.

Everytime there’s a trailer people say they shoudlve hidden the basic premise of the movie. Like the trailer should NOT be “a family is a neighborhood and its gets transported to A Place and now they have to run from A Thing” like how do you get anyone interested in that

LiquifiedSpam Mar 27, 2026 +3
This is the teaser trailer. The dinosaurs obviously aren’t a late movie twist. This teaser would basically just be nothing without that

Good trailer, tells you everything you need to know... ...except for why Ewan McGregor looks like hes morphing into Michael C Hall, but idk if that'll be answered in the film.

They're basically putting this in the Weapons s***. Smart — it looks like the closest thing WB have to that movie this year.

ticking clock opener, fragmenting a pan shot with ridiculous cuts, and spoiling an interesting reveal... this teaser has everything! I hope the film is good. I know marketing is separate from the production

Blvd_Nights Mar 26, 2026 +1
Under the Silver Lake was one of my favorite movies so I’m inclined to check out anything he puts out.

sighborg1 Mar 26, 2026 +1
Been waiting for a new movie from this director since Under the Silver Lake. He always layers in a lot of details.

We thinking PG13 as usual or do we get some proper R rated Dino action? What I wouldn’t give for a live action Dino Crisis! Or at least a game remake! 😭

They got Jumanji'd!

So it's Drifting Classroom but a suburban Street instead of a school? That's fun
