What an ending!! I did not expect this. I went into it thinking it was gonna be a horror and the few “scary” scenes weren’t scary at all but I didn’t expect such an emotional ending.
My overall thoughts are:
Keanu Reeves was so hot… even as a wife beater. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him play a villain before.
Cool plot twist.
Buddy Cole: 😭😭😭
I think this is the only time I've ever actually been scared of Keanu. The way he was stomping through the house with his boots was actually pretty terrifying. Really great performance.

Yeah, that ending really got me too. I thought it was just a standard thriller, but it actually had some real heart to it.

ikr? see I went into it thinking it was a horror cuz i googled “southern gothic horrors” so i kept waiting for the scary part. I kinda had a feeling he was dead but felt so sad once it was actually confirmed. what a kind soul.. ☹️ (Can’t believe this is the same guy that plays Ted’s creepy stalker.)

I wonder if Raimi working with Rosemary Harris and JK Simmons on this movie led to him casting them for Spider-Man a couple years later.

I recall hearing that Tom Cruise tried to suppress this movie due to the Katie Holmes topless scene. The movie didn't seem to get a lot of press as it was so, maybe it worked? It'd been out for a while before they were married though. Somehow I'm skeptical.
Great movie, great story. Great cast. And, the Sam Raimi Oldsmobile placement was a fun bit of fan service that didn't distract from the movie.
