The GOP needs a boogeyman to scare voters with. The smaller the minority group is, the easier it is to demonize them. Trans people are the current popular target.

It's 'Fascism 101' to create some universal enemy. So much for the pursuit of happiness being an unalienable right. Is it very cynical of me that the phrase "Trangenders are the new Jews." pops up in my head when I read something like this?

No. We've been screaming it from the rooftops for a decade now.

I studied fascism in grad school. I’m Jewish. I’m a trans woman. I’m Hispanic. This shit is straight up terrifying watching it happen in real time.

Yes but the people are the problem because they're the ones giving the gop power to hurt innocent people.  They did it knowingly. The people did this.

This level of obsession is mental illness. I hope they get help, actual help not the fake kind they try to cook up for queer people...but they shouldn't have power.  I'm sick of this. Conservative Gen Xers have gotten downright Victorian about this shit. The biggest freaks and pervs behind closed doors, all kinds of cosmetic surgeries for them, but we need to make up a boogeyman to project on. I think it eats them up most Trans folk are more natural and well adjusted than they are. Old racists at least could focus on something else for a while.

Well yea. They think the people who put them in place will celebrate if they're horrible to minorities, and transgender people are the easiest target. They don't NEED to govern if they just keep hitting the punching bag.

The problem with boycotting Idaho, which everyone should do, is that most fast food franchises get their potatoes from Idaho.  Which means if you eat at a top franchise even if you don't get French fries you are essentially sitting at the segregated lunch country and eating lunch or sitting on the segregated bus and funding racial discrimination by bigots and cult zealots. Idaho is a segregationist state full of white supremacists in power. This is exactly the same as 'whites only' water fountain or 'whites only' pool. They are moving back toward racial segregation but starting with persecution of trans.  Which is weird because it's the white supremacists who seem unable to tolerate the public when they are in public. *They* are the ones who should be barred from public bathrooms. Boycott Idaho completely. Do not eat at any franchise that buys Idaho potatoes. Buy nothing from Idaho. Ship nothing to Idaho. Let them fail. This is neo Jim crow...neo apartheid... Neo segregation. Make no mistake it is a step toward slavery and a step toward criminalized politics.  Boycott Idaho, boycott Texas. Bring their economy to a full stop.

Is there a kind of potato that *doesn't* grow in Idaho so I can be sure? Those lil purple ones maybe?

GOP states are stuck with Creepy politicians - would rather police sexuality than legislate. Goes along with the pedo stuff in a weird way, so theres that …

The people voted for cruelty. The people did this, and none of it should be surprising to anyone.  The people of the U.S. are a goddamned disgrace. I know, I live here.
