The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra (2001) - Trailer

This is one of those films where you can tell everyone involved was having way too much fun.

Isn't this film an intentionally made bad film, on the lines of the low budget B-movies of the 50s?

This is one of my favorite comedies. Larry Blamire did an amazing job, and his entire crew was just a phenomenal assembly. It works perfectly.

The line delivery in this is just chef’s kiss—so stiff it loops back to being hilarious.

There's a scene in this movie where the skeleton is climbing on a rock wall (\~1:45 in the trailer), and the way they marionetted the thing shambling up against the wall as it rose... I hadn't laughed that hard in a long time.

True story - the producer of this film was one of my professors at film school for a few years way back in the early aughts Miguel F Valenti At the time, I didn’t know any better and couldn’t appreciate this movie, but now I realize how tongue in cheek everything is and it’s pretty delightful Hope Miguel is doing alright!

This trailer played in front of a lot of the Godzilla DVDs I would obsessively watch as a kid. What a nice throwback.

The first time I watched it I was on acid, and I thought my sister was pulling a prank on me by playing it. Terrific 👍👍

All of the tropes they're parodying are from movies that no one has seen unless A.) they're a specific type of film student, or B.) they're MST3K fans (and you'd have to be exceptionally brave or exceptionally stupid to try to compete with MST3K for comedy). All of the actors/actresses performances are funny in a way that is mainly aimed at entertaining the other performers rather than the audience, a very "I'm your favorite comedian's favorite comedian" kind of vibe. And yet, it somehow all works and is a pretty damn funny movie.

I remember being really interested in that trailer, but never did get around to seeing it. I was more into campy stuff back then than now.

One of the best comedies to watch with a big group of friends. Especially watching it multiple times. Its like an onion of jokes.

I was fortunate enough to see this during the original theater run, and I haven't had such a fun audience experience until I watched "Hundreds of Beavers" twenty years later. If you love camp horror & sci-fi movies, this movie is definitely for you.
