I saw someone flying a kite once. I was not impressed. Kites are supposed to fly. Try flying a chair.

Imagine trying to fly a chair. You'd have to run like a m***********.

I used to like Mitch Hedberg. I still like him, but I used to too.

I haven't watched Mitch Hedberg for 10 days, because that would be too long.

There is no reason to bring ink and paper into this.

Back when I was working for a shady nonprofit in the early 2010s, we were audited by the state. There was no real regulation for what we were doing wrong, but they knew about it and decided to basically go over our books with a micron-toothed comb to disallow any expense we'd claimed and set our compensation rate at a level the business couldn't survive. Part of this was that our executive director submitted an expense report to petty cash for gas and a doughnut, but he only had the automated receipt for the gas. So yes, there is a scenario.

I passed on the opportunity years ago to see him live, I think because I was just tired. Figured I'd catch him at a later date. That later date was not to be. 😥

Same. He and Lewis Black were playing successive weekends at a comedy club near where my sister lived. Being a poor college student, I only had gas and ticket money to see one of them. Lewis Black's set was great, but man, did I make the wrong choice :(

I think of him every time I use an escalator. Rest easy, old friend.

I would say let us remember Mitch, but I don’t think salad has a brain.

His dry humor was great, we need more comedy.

Mitch Hedburg said words that people heard. Showed them things they could see. His comedy was full of jokes and things meant to make people laugh. Mitch Hedberg was a comedian.

So true.

Wow I'm just like Mitch, we both wish people would clap less. If its funny, laugh. Clapping during comedy should be very limited, it fucks up the flow of the set

It also usually feels like a pity clap, like “Nice job, I see what you did there even if I didn’t laugh”

My story about mitch that I like to share is my brother was a small touring stand up comedian and got to open for mitch for a couple shows. After the show my brother asked for a pic and an autograph, Mitch said to him "you had a great set, I'm gonna write great set." And wrote it on the album he autographed and took a pic. A little bit later my brother snuck me into a show and I got to see him live (I was 15) before he passed away. I always keep my ticket stubs and that's the only stub that I ever accidentally ruined and it bothers me to this day. But the memory is the best part.

Mitch Hedberg never seemed to crack real mainstream popularity while he was alive. He wasn't selling out stadiums or anything. But over 20 years after he's gone you can go into any conversation and drop a Mitch Hedberg line and get another one in return. That's immortality.

I love Mitch got to see him twice. My wife & I just watched Sheng Wang's new special Purple on Netflix & we both felt that Sheng has a very similar vibe to Mitch.

The Mitch Hedberg: An intimate Portrait filmmakers did a film festival panel recently, so hopefully it’ll be released soon!
