I really liked this show back in the day, it was daring, dramatic, hilarious and just so stupidly over the top.
I don’t know what happened here. I watched the first episode and it brought me so much pain to see what Cassie’s character was reduced to. I remember so clearly explaining to my boyfriend at the time in the last season that she wasn’t stupid as he thought, just so painfully insecure. And I was sooo excited to see how the show would develop her arc and what that Aha moment would be for her. Now six years later and I feel like they somehow made her worse than she was before?
I told myself it can’t be that bad, and after seeing a couple of memes from this season on instagram, I decided to put on the second episode. After seeing Rue barter traded by this pimp and Maddie trying to market soft p*** I remembered I had free will and closed the tab. I cannot even describe the disappointment I feel. Even as a huge GOT fan, saddened by S 8, I still managed to watch every episode. This, this is just pathetic.
after all this time, all the promos i've seen for this show, all the mentions of it that i overhear, i still have no clue what the hell euphoria is about

Just an edgy teen drama with actors near 30. They do drugs, f*** around, get in trouble. There’s not much to know plot wise, it’s the performances that people were captivated by

I’m sure it’s completely watchable. In fact, I know it is.

U do realize there are plenty more episodes to develop her character right??

Good luck on that journey, I no longer feel entertained watching the show, weirdly it’s almost painful. Maybe I’ll read the complete synopsis of how it ends on Wikipedia in a couple of months

It feels like they turned everyone into a meme of themselves instead of characters. Honestly, I’d just pretend it ended with season 2 and rewatch the carnival episode instead.

It's Euphoria....
It's not some deep, meaningful, layered drama. I dont know why any1 is pretending it's anything different than just some teen, edgy show.

There are loads of edgy teen shows that didn’t just abandon the plot and character design. Skins for one still holds up as one of the best teen dramas, funny, stupid at times, shocking but sound storytelling at the end of the day. This right here is a mess.

Skins in it's prime was so much better than Euphoria. It was actually fun to watch.

Problem is, if they hadn't done the time jump, and everyone was still at school, you'd be complaining that it's boring and just more of the same.
With a show as popular and long awaited as this was, it's impossible for the writers to meet people's expectations.
Is season 3 as good as 1 and 2? No, not at the moment. The first 2 episodes have really just been reintroducing the characters, and where they are in their lives. But I'm open to seeing where it goes.

I don’t care about the time jump, that’s fine, the dialogue is poor, the characters are somehow simpler and more paper thin than they were in the previous seasons. It’s like it’s all spectacle now with no heart.

Skins and Industry cover some similar ground but do it better imo.

All the backlash posts for the show on this sub has been downvoted, it’s really rubbed people the wrong way. I’m curious who exactly this audience is

I suppose if you actually empathize with these characters you could find their self-degrading behaviours pitiable, demoralizing. Myself, I never saw them as anything but awful people from the start, so witnessing their grubby travails through the sewers of American culture has been a constant source of amusement to me.
