As someone who hasn't seen extra footage, how do you see him differently now?

The Office was popular when it was airing years before it was ever on Netflix, before Netflix even had streaming.

My first few binging experiences with this show were with the DVD sets. I can’t wait to get my hands on this 😀

There's 6-7 episodes per disc, so it's not exactly you having to get up every half hour to put a new disc in. Obviously the visual advantage of image quality over streaming, but it's going to be minor to barely marginal on a show like this in HD, it's not like upgrading to **Game of Thrones** on 4K disc and seeing a dramatic upswing in quality over the streaming version. The main appeal here seems to be integrating the extended footage into the episodes themselves, which in some cases makes for much better episodes. Interesting to see if these versions of the episodes go onto streaming or they become a media-only thing, if only for a few years. ETA: Ah the superfan episodes are already on Peacock, so interesting choice to release this.

Sorta. Discs cost like 25 cents to make. The idea that the number of discs drastically inflates the cost of something is arbitrary.

You are definitely not alone. The almost universal consensus is that the last two seasons are much worse than everything else IIRC Steve Carell didn't want many lines in the finale because he didn't want to overshadow everyone else—it wasn't really his show anymore. They also wanted to keep it a surprise; his role was so secretive, it was pretty much omitted from the script

Iirc, Steve said he pushed for Michael to have a really small role in the finale to keep the focus on the rest of the cast/characters.

If I recall correctly he only appeared in a non-speaking role

I found the farm was massively improved

I was OK with the original final season, at first. I've rewatched the show a few times since then. But after watching the Superfan episodes, I'm not sure I like it as much as I did before.

If the super fan cuts just add extra scenes instead of using alternate takes you don’t need to include more video files to support both. Blu-Rays and DVDs already store scenes separately and both support playlists so you can have the Superfan cut button for an episode play scenes 1,2,3,4,5 and the broadcast button play scenes 1,3,5. It’s how they have things like the Play All button. Some DVDs use this in unique ways like Memento letting you play it in chronological order. The question is whether they’d bother since it seems unlikely many people would buy this then choose to play the shorter episodes. I’m sure some would but not enough for it to be a selling point improving sales.

It's also frankly not interesting looking enough to watch in 4K, it's people in a damn office.

If they were filmed on film they were filmed in 4K

You would be surprised at the sheer amount of 4K’s that are just 1080p or 2K upscales.
