The people yearn for more TV shows with normal episode counts and consistent production schedules!

No more laugh tracks. And the for others, no more mockumentary style shows.

“So Claire/Jim/Leslie has been feeling this way lately so I thought I, Phil/Pam/Ron would do something to cheer them up like directly dump expositional dialogue into the camera to make it feel like more is happening in this show than it actually is.”

Did anyone here even finish the first season of The Paper?

Seriously. Forget the a list actors, forget the insanely high budgets. Just give us some good writing and unknown cast

That’s how it has always worked and that’s how we want it…

> The 15th and final episode of the medical drama’s second season reached 9.7 million viewers through its opening weekend, according to Warner Bros. Discovery. Additionally, Season 2 is averaging 15.4 million viewers to date across all episodes — a 50% improvement on the Season 1 average. > Achieving that statistic makes “The Pitt” only the sixth series in the history of HBO Max to surpass an average of 15 million viewers, following “House of the Dragon,” “The White Lotus,” “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” “The Last of Us” and “It: Welcome to Derry.”

I love this show because is job focused. We know about the characters but just enough to don’t get bored. Is the closest thing we have as a job simulator, a reality show would never be able to pull this off, I feel like going to work without going to work.

I like that.. job simulator. Spot on.

That’s why I’m able to enjoy this show. It’s a whole different kind of stress for me. Is thrilling, but kinda geeky thrill.

“I feel like going to work without going to work” Well that doesn’t sound fun at all, I hate going to work and now you’re telling me I can go to work to come home and then go back to pretend work.

What?! People like episodic story telling?  You mean to  tell me all these streaming execs have been wrong with the new meta of 7 episodes every 2-3 years?
13
Heavymando 4 days ago +2
wait... you think the Pitt is episodic story telling? Buddy each season is a whole day and each episode builds on the last.

I like that they do weekly drops!! rooster is another one I can’t wait for Sunday for.

They have the same amount of seasons as the last of us and almost double the episodes. And they’re releasing 15 more in January. This is the kind of tv people want

Gotta say Noah Wylie kills it as his role. I’ve seen him in Librarians and Leverage Redemption and he’s always a joy to watch on screen. Love his acting chops and he’s more versatile of an actor than I thought he could be. Really like the show.

You are missing out on some peak Noah Wylie if you don't add any falling skies to it

Thanks for the rec! I’ll check it out soon. I remember seeing adverts for it a few years back on tv always was intrigued by it but never got around to watching it.

Not if you're squeamish or hate seeing injuries/surgery and hearing people suffering. I find I have to look away often.

It's fantastic but ever since someone pointed out the clichés in it, it has been hard to unsee. Still, well worth the time.

nustiuboss 4 days ago +1
What are these cliches?

Johnykbr 4 days ago +1
This sums it up pretty well. https://www.publicbooks.org/the-pitt-how-corny-can-crisis-get/ I still really enjoy the show but it can be very eye-rolling at times. And no, im not using the W word.

nustiuboss 3 days ago +1
You are suggesting it a little bit, I guess. I skimmed the article, feels like the author is looking for hyperrealism; some of us look for aspirational realism and likable characters. If it was just a real ER… that’s not something to watch on TV, you have to sprinkle it with something else. At the end of the day, I guess it connects with what kind of shows you like - for me, I like these sort of tropes and characters so I really enjoyed it. It can see it not being the case for somebody else.

Love this show. There's some truly outstanding actors and never a dull moment. One of the best in recent memory.

I think their decision to not try to one-up the mass casualty incident from the first season was the right one, and really helped to put the show in a great place going forward. Season 1 was the big flashy season wowing everyone with its intensity; season 2 was about settling the show in for the long haul. I loved it.

Any-Tomorrow-7344 4 days ago +3
Agreed. I was glad to see they avoided making huge events be the focus of each season. Season 2 had its “fire drills” and that was enough.

I liked it but the racial tropes are getting way over played in that they are noticeable now but regardless the story line grabs me.

RIP HBO and Max. I waited for The Pitt to end and now I've cancelled because f*** Paramount and the Ellisons
-3
gutster_95 4 days ago +1
What the hell are you talking about? The deal isnt done, they are filming Season 3 right now, the Ellisons are this stupid to cancel one of most popular shows right now. They are already in debt, they cant afford to cancel popular stuff
1
MiserableProduct 3 days ago +1
I think it’s more the principle. The Ellisons want to show “both sides”

This is probably the only show I actually see what conservatives mean when they say liberal talking points are shoehorned into programs too much these days. Like every single episode is very much agenda driven and blatant social commentary. I’m literally a democratic socialist but even I think it’s way to on the nose. “Libmaxxing”. This guy does a funny rundown of it: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DVuj8f1Jdrl/?igsh=MWV5aXg4cTkzYmsy

Season 1 was better. Network censorship will probably kill this show, like your kind is doing to the whole country.

What you mean me? I’m a democratic socialist. You could go into my comment history and see that going back almost a decade.

Disastrous-Quail-555 4 days ago -1
So sorry, had to reread that. I have found many of these medical shows going overboard on wokeness. Not against much of it but quite frankly what is portrayed is not what is reality (Grey's Anatomy). I like The Pitt, but there is a difference in season 2 and by the the corporate takeover, Max is surely the movie arm of Fox. Gripping believable stories are not what usually follows.

I was just surprised I was being called a conservative or a Trump voter.
2
Disastrous-Quail-555 4 days ago +2
Yes, I would be also, and offended. Sorry, My mistake. Hollywood is liberal, and I don't see anything wrong with that. From a medical viewpoint, they say, this show is very accurate. Let us hope it doesn't get to the ridiculous level of Grey's.

You’re in the “entertainment” sublistnook. This is probably the best piece of mainstream entertainment being made right now.

Hot Take: I can't get into it. I just can't connect with anyone and this might be a weird comment - but the set is really boring to look at and the lighting is flat and harsh which makes it harder to connect with. I tried even skipping to Season 2 to see if it would make me come back to season 1! No luck.

How would you like an emergency room in a hospital to look?
3
Actual_Banana4833 4 days ago -1
ER did an amazing job with their production design. It gave an overall warm that contrasted sharply with how bleak the stories could be and how cold and proficient a hospital can be. It was interesting to the eye and I feel it kept me engaged.

ER is quite dated visually
