Who is the titular rookie 9 seasons in?
590
m_busuttil Apr 13, 2026 +257
They've gone through more than a half dozen at this point - the rookies got their own rookies and then those rookies cycled out and they got new rookies.
257
Horknut1 Apr 13, 2026 +120
It's Rookies all the way down!
120
divinecmdy Apr 13, 2026 +27
That’s some hot Rookie on Rookie action right there
27
esed14 Apr 13, 2026 +9
Oops! All Rookies!
9
RB30DETT Apr 13, 2026 +6
The real rookies are the ones we meet along the way.
6
KathyJaneway Apr 13, 2026 +81
So basically police version of Grey's anatomy. They started as basic level doctors ,and then they became heads of departments with their own doctors who take orders and who in turn got their own residents...
81
RaffyGiraffy Apr 13, 2026 +17
I just started watching The Rookie as my sister suggested it and this is exactly how I described it— the police version of Greys.
17
SlyyKozlov Apr 13, 2026 +13
Do any of those rookies go on to be commissioner or something lol
13
Lfsnz67 Apr 13, 2026 +30
No, but they were attacked by a horde of zombies Not kidding
30
YourGuyK Apr 13, 2026 +8
And there was a creepy doll! It really hurt they couldn't air that around Halloween.
8
night_breed Apr 13, 2026 +6
Well to be fair they weren't undead. They were caught up in a chemical agent that fucked their heads
6
Usual-Caregiver5589 Apr 13, 2026 +38
One of the recent ones flunked out and caused a whole shitload of problems. The other one that came in with him nearly did too but he's on his last chance.
38
myassholealt Apr 13, 2026 +16
The show focus is more on the patrol/field side of things, so probably not gonna happen. But the highest rank of a season 1 rookie right now is sergeant.
16
ProphetPenguin Apr 14, 2026 +3
Almost all of the characters in the show who started as a TO or Rookie is now in some higher up position. Only they also haven't killed a rookie or higher ranking officer in many many seasons.
3
ZlubarsNFL Apr 13, 2026 +4
One of them transferred departments one of them got fired for being a pathological liar (just came back to the show last week too)
4
RelevantOldOnion Apr 13, 2026 +13
Why would the fire a cop for being a pathological liar? Lol. Was he bad at it or something?
13
bros402 Apr 13, 2026 +24
he faked having cancer and didn't tell the cops who figured it out that a wildfire was heading their direction and they almost died
24
IBelongHere Apr 13, 2026 +17
That’ll do it
17
ZlubarsNFL Apr 13, 2026 +4
Well in their world it's bad for cops to lie haha But also he tried to kill two of the main characters by not letting them know that a road was closed during a wildfire and they almost got trapped and burned alive
4
cire1184 Apr 13, 2026 +3
Those are rookies. But who is THE Rookie. The Rookie is a damn Sargeant now or something I dunno. I stopped watching 4 seasons in.
3
Ancient-Dust3077 Apr 14, 2026 +2
the rookie is amazing though
2
seancbo Apr 13, 2026 +420
He just can't get the hang of it!
420
MilesToHaltHer Apr 13, 2026 +65
Internal Affairs hates to see him comin…
65
iamacannibal Apr 13, 2026 +109
They make the title work. There is always a rookie around. The main character who was “the rookie” is now a training officer training the rookies.
109
Singer211 Apr 13, 2026 +15
Pretty much. They just bring in new rookies as the older cast leave or get promoted.
15
Cool_Till_3114 Apr 13, 2026 +6
Sometimes the old cast is the rookie too, they have a former rookie being the rookie Sargent now and a former training officer being the rookie watch commander.
6
OnTheMattack Apr 13, 2026 +44
Fillion's character transitioned into training the new rookies so the title still works.
44
ElasticPlatypus Apr 13, 2026 +36
He’s almost halfway to be able to retire with a full pension
36
jimbobdonut Apr 13, 2026 +22
Nathan Fillion is 55. That’s right around the age where most police officers retire.
22
Singer211 Apr 13, 2026 +27
His character is meant to be 50. And him being an old man by police standards is kind of the point.
27
YourGuyK Apr 13, 2026 +11
Not with only 9 years on. He's lucky LAPD doesn't have mandatory retirement at 65, or he wouldn't make his pension.
11
freeofblasphemy Apr 13, 2026 +71
It’s short for his name (Rook Rookerson)
71
DestituteDomino Apr 13, 2026 +37
It couldn't possibly be me who actually looked to see if this was true, like a dumbass. ...okay, it was me.
37
johnmd20 Apr 13, 2026 +10
It would be amazing if the name was Rook Rookerson, to be fair. I want that to be true and I think you did, too. :) Note, I watch the Rookie. It's a fun show. It's an easy watch. Sure, Copaganda and all that. . . .but it's not really a copaganda show. It's way zanier than a real cop TV show.
10
YourGuyK Apr 13, 2026 +9
Rook "Rookie" Rookerson.
9
Underwater_Grilling Apr 13, 2026 +2
First of his name
2
azad_ninja Apr 13, 2026 +33
Nathan Fillion is a gem. But we got a decade of Rookie, and only one year of Firefly. This timeline is sub-par
33
willreadfile13 Apr 13, 2026 +10
We are ‘maybe’ getting a firefly animated series at the very least. Just a small nudge towards a better timeline
10
Adezar Apr 13, 2026 +3
But he's potentially using his Disney + Rookie money to try to revive an animated Firefly... so there's that.
3
mjzim9022 Apr 13, 2026 +3
Between Rookie and Castle, Fillion has got to be set for life
3
BarbellsandBurritos Apr 13, 2026 +5
If you join the LAPD, the rookie is YOU!
5
kingoflint282 Apr 13, 2026 +2
A transfer cop from Sugarland Texas and Nathan Fillion’s original rookie is now his training officer
2
KeyanFarlandah Apr 13, 2026 +259
I feel like The Rookie being renewed was about a sure thing as gravity
259
Kwilly462 Apr 13, 2026 +90
Tbf, the S9 renewal took longer than I expected. Like they had to think about it or something.
90
txa1265 Apr 13, 2026 +52
I bet we will eventually learn about how the delay in (obvious) renewal was tied to renegotiating contracts based on the budget cuts we heard about last month.
52
xyzzyzyzzyx Apr 13, 2026 +11
*More* budget cuts?
11
txa1265 Apr 13, 2026 +13
The reports last month talked about deep cuts for S9 as a condition of renewal. Those same reports discussed cost cutting strategies in long running shows like Greys Anatomy. So it is my assumption that contract renegotiation would be part of anything moving forward.
13
IowaJL Apr 14, 2026 +5
Maybe let’s not shoot on location in places outside of the LAPD’s jurisdiction.
5
txa1265 Apr 14, 2026 +2
Well, just like the show runner can choose to give his mediocre kids more screen minutes than main cast ... so too can he decide to have a boondoggle combo episode/vacation paid for by a combination of the show and the city playing for more filming attention.
2
TheWholeOfTheAss Apr 13, 2026 +5
Soon network shows will have 8 episodes every two years.
5
Facemanx64 Apr 13, 2026 +11
They’ve renewed the last few seasons every April.
11
jovanmilic97 Apr 13, 2026 +14
There's also a spinoff in development, probably will get ordered - The Rookie: North with Jay Ellis in the lead role. Basically has the identical plot of a middle-aged man becoming the oldest rookie cop etc, unlike the failed Feds
14
monchota Apr 13, 2026 +2
That would be the third spin off they tried right?
2
bros402 Apr 13, 2026 +7
Second. There's The Rookie, then Feds, and soon North.
7
NTP9766 Apr 13, 2026 +13
And I hope it stays that way. Say what you want, but it's just an enjoyable show to sit down and watch.
13
SortofConsciousLog Apr 13, 2026 +3
Not the same week we just defeated gravity and went to/around the moon !
3
ObviouslyTriggered Apr 13, 2026 +2
Based on how many times they’ve jumped the shark with it I’m not sure we can say for certain they’ll have gravity next season…
2
Wowohboy666 Apr 13, 2026 +92
Will Trent do what?
92
PYTN Apr 13, 2026 +75
develop a good Georgia accent. Answer: Probably not.
75
idontknowjuspickone Apr 13, 2026 +21
Good, Georgia accent: pick one
21
extramental Apr 13, 2026 +7
I couldn’t watch further after the conversation with his dog in the first episode. It was weird af.
7
Applesburg14 Apr 13, 2026 +33
Poor man’s benoit blanc (I still like the show)
33
RenderedMeat Apr 13, 2026 +23
I mostly watch it for Betty.
23
holla171 Apr 13, 2026 +12
Betty, Ormey, Angie and Benjamin Franklin are great
12
Doomeye56 Apr 13, 2026 +6
everybody is just some form of Sherlock Holmes.
6
Krayt88 Apr 14, 2026 +2
So a detective?
2
Doomeye56 Apr 14, 2026 +2
Quirky detective
2
GingerAle19 Apr 13, 2026 +11
Not me thinking Will Trent was a spinoff of that reporter guy from Ted Lasso
11
crimson777 Apr 13, 2026 +22
You mean Trent Crimm, The Independent.
22
KaladinShardblade Apr 13, 2026 +7
Don’t you mean, Trent Crimm - Independent
7
abouttogivebirth Apr 13, 2026 +2
Even telling me his name hasn't convinced me that Will Trent isn't just a show about Trent Crimm. Like he was leading a life of crime and had to change his name to escape justice and came up with Trent Crimm because he's Trent and likes Crime but didn't learn to spell until he decided to become a sports reporter.

smokedgudas Apr 13, 2026 +2

R/Dropout in shambles.
85
thekemper Apr 13, 2026 +60
I love Dropout, but absolutely hate their fandom.
60
MajorFuckingDick Apr 14, 2026 +2
Every internet based fandom is similar and it only gets worse the more accessible your are.  Watching TADC fandom breaking down over a 2 week exclusivity to theaters for the finale is making me realize how worthless the average fan is. Their entire argument is they cant afford it and might get spoiled. They are completely removed from the realities of the industry they consume yet refuse to be any sort of decent when told anything. Im not trying to say the complaint isnt valid, but you can't wait 2 weeks to support this company and ip you love? What does fandom even mean anymore.
2
OnyxMemory Apr 13, 2026 +44
I am a fan of dropout content and watch it very occasionally but seeing everyone have a meltdown about them being on a TV show was ridiculous.
44
DaveShadow Apr 13, 2026 +24
I’m a Dropout fan and a Rookie fan, so I was in heaven for the crossover 😂
24
YourGuyK Apr 13, 2026 +10
Same, I had no idea how anyone could be upset by that.
10
wait_________what Apr 13, 2026 +11
When are they not
11
Adezar Apr 13, 2026 +34
That response from that sublistnook was probably one of the most insane I've seen in a while.
34
BirdmanTheThird Apr 13, 2026 +71
I have never watched the rookie but I see clips of “Cop Cutie” all the time and it’s seemed pretty funny
71
OnTheMattack Apr 13, 2026 +47
It knows when to not take itself too seriously. It was my wife's pregnancy binge show so I've watched occasionally. My favourite was when they track a criminal to an escape room place and they accidentally lock themselves in so they have to do the eacape room with the guy to get out. They all celebrate together, high five, etc and then have the inevitable "oh right we were here to arrest you, still have to do that, sorry!" moment.
47
Adezar Apr 13, 2026 +17
Their cold opens can almost rival Brooklyn 99 cold opens sometimes.
17
ObviouslyTriggered Apr 13, 2026 +11
Is it when they were chasing a nuclear bomb, stopping Chinese spies or when the LAPD sends a low ranking cop and his firefighter wife to Europe to chase down an arms dealer? Yep really not taking themselves seriously…
11
OnTheMattack Apr 13, 2026 +15
Having moments of lightheartedness doesn't make a show a straight up comedy, it's still mostly serious. Though to be honest all the premises you listed sound deeply silly for a cop show so who knows lol.
15
SituationSoap Apr 13, 2026 +17
The first thing you need to know about The Rookie is that there are only 12 cops in Los Angeles. The second thing you need to know about The Rookie is that there are only about 18 cops *in the world*.
17
ObviouslyTriggered Apr 13, 2026 +4
The first 2-3 seasons were just that, regular or at least somewhat plausible cop drama with lightheartedness, but after that they've jumped the shark with every season and sometimes multiple times a season. There is a difference between some silly Halloween themed episode that riffs on a zombie apocalypse and LAPD apparently doing wet work in Mexico to take out the leader of a Mexican drug cartel.
4
Act_of_God Apr 13, 2026 +9
bro his wife is so funny, she's a firefighter, EMT, army reserve, everything. She f****** comes out of nowhere every episode with a different costume and it sends me every time
9
Greyrock99 Apr 13, 2026 +8
Most tv shows like this struggle with the love interest. Either they 1) have the main character hook up with a random guest star who lasts 2-3 episodes then disappears 2) has a tortuous ‘will they/won’t they’ with the other main star that drags on far too long that we don’t need to see anymore of since Ross or Rachel. The Rookie has some of the silliest sloppiest writing if all time but I give it credit for how they handle Nathan Fillion’s love life. Giving him a firefighter/Emt character that means she can constantly pop up every 3rd episode and stay relevant. She’s never the damsel in distress just to be kidnapped and has her own agency and personality. Well done Rookie.
8
Designer_Pea582 Apr 13, 2026 +73
It is excellent “put on the background while you’re doing other work” TV. Easy to follow, Nathan Fillion plays Nathan Fillion, but a cop, and it has enough humor to make you exhale through your nose once or twice an episode.
73
zappy487 Apr 13, 2026 +24
> Easy to follow It's because the show is just one big LAPD-based TTRPG. Nolan is a paladin. Every other character fits and acts a specific archetype. This isn't criticism, knowing it actively makes the show more fun when you watch it as each episode being a DnD session.
24
Doomeye56 Apr 13, 2026 +12
Including crazy plot lines with cultists and doomsday attacks and haunted psychwards.
12
zappy487 Apr 14, 2026 +2
Exactly my point. I never think the show has jumped the shark, I just think "What shenanigans will the DM throw out at them this week."
2
hankjmoody Apr 14, 2026 +4
> and it has enough humor to make you exhale through your nose once or twice an episode. The early season cold opens were genuinely hilarious, and rather creative. The one where the clown car of hoopleheads scatter during a traffic stop, only for the trunk to open after everyone ran off, and a ukelele player pops out playing the theme tune? Brilliant.
4
NoLeadership2281 Apr 13, 2026 +23
It’s the kind of fun show u can relax to watch with your friends and family during weekends, it’s an easy watch
23
Shadow_Everywhere Apr 13, 2026 +7
Exactly the type of show I looked for when I found it
7
ZlubarsNFL Apr 13, 2026 +7
It's a fun show, nothing serious or groundbreaking but just a standard cop show with heart and humor
7
wolfgang2399 Apr 13, 2026 +6
I feel like they do try to do different things. They did an episode where everything looked like it was filmed through the body c*** and cameras in the vehicles. They did a documentary type episode, which I know is a trope but it’s something different from every other episode. Everything doesn’t land necessarily but I appreciate the effort.
6
Wolfram_And_Hart Apr 13, 2026 +4
It’s not as “copaganda” as most shows in the genre. Doesn’t take itself too seriously but at the same time doesn’t let the cops off the hook when they f*** up.
4
Singer211 Apr 13, 2026 +2
It’s a fun show that is easy to watch. Most of the cast and characters are pretty likeable as well.
2
keine_fragen Apr 13, 2026 +25
longer article about The Rookie from Deadline, they get such nice tax credits for filming in LA they don't have budget cuts. and that is a big expensive cast at this point. [‘The Rookie’ Renewed For Season 9: How Young Appeal, Lean Production & CA Tax Credit Helped Series Become ABC’s 3rd Longest-Running Drama](https://deadline.com/2026/04/the-rookie-renewed-season-9-abc-nathan-fillion-1236786313/)
25
ChochMcKenzie Apr 13, 2026 +25
I never thought I’d like the Rookie, and just started watching it on a whim. It’s entertainingly silly and all of the actors are charming. I’m glad Nathan Fillion’s podcast talked me into it.
25
Wit-wat-4 Apr 14, 2026 +10
I’m not into the Rookie in particular, but I think there’s a reason Fillion had the huge successes of Castle and Rookie - he’s very “easy to watch” in a good way. Also his costars always speak so highly of the environment he brings to sets, I bet that helps things feel more fun, too.
10
Jabbles22 Apr 13, 2026 +5
I enjoyed it until the current season. I was already thinking of jumping ship but when this season started with an LAPD cop and his firefighter wife on what was basically a spy mission in another country I just couldn't do it anymore. I am glad others are enjoying it, but it's just not for me.
5
ChochMcKenzie Apr 13, 2026 +10
I’m in season 6 and it gets wilder every year. After the wedding/kidnapping/unauthorized rescue mission in South America I knew I was either in or out and I stuck around.
10
alexjimithing Apr 13, 2026 +103

It’s so good.
7
The_Swarm22 Apr 13, 2026 +19
Getting nervous for RJ Decker… I think the remaining three episodes will be airing an hour earlier now that High Potential is done for the season, maybe ABC is waiting to see how it does in that time s*** before making a decision?
19
ahumblecardamompod Apr 13, 2026 +16
I’m really enjoying RJ Decker so far. I hope it gets picked up for another season.
16
No-Philosopher3248 Apr 13, 2026 +25
If it’s a good show, but slightly quirky, it’s cancelled. Stump Town is a great example of this. Solid ratings, but cancelled randomly.
25
crimson777 Apr 13, 2026 +14
Stump Town still makes me sad. Cobie Smulders and Jake Johnson together in a show was just impeccable casting.
14
All_Lightning879 Apr 13, 2026 +9
Renewed, then reversed it. You can thank COVID for that.
9
CrashRiot Apr 14, 2026 +2
Glow is still the ultimate COVID renewal reversal :-(
2
Efficient_Paper Apr 13, 2026 +6
It had ratings that put it slightly over the profitability line, but then COVID meant all shows suddenly became more expensive.
6
BoringAccount4Work Apr 13, 2026 +4
>If it’s a good show, but slightly quirky, Will the amount of hallucinations and dance sequences I think Will Trent fits that category
4
bookwurmneo Apr 13, 2026 +3
I would say stumptown is a bit of an exception since the cancellation was due to the increased cost of filming with Covid precautions. I think the North Carolina tax incentives and it’s cap will play a big factor in its renewal when it comes to RJ Decker
3
klutzysunshine Apr 13, 2026 +5
Also worried but Scrubs and Shifting Gears (which I also watch and seem to be safe) haven't been renewed yet either. Hoping all three make it!

Some great characters in this show. Ormewood has had such a great character arc, and has easily become my favorite.
9
alchemeron Apr 13, 2026 +10
It's kind of wild the way Nathan Fillion has pulled off back-to-back, long-running network hits. 173 episodes of Castle from 2009 to 2016, and now 140+ episodes of The Rookie since 2018. Impressive.
10
FeistyRelationship44 Apr 13, 2026 +50
Woo!! Will Trent!!

Whenever Betty isn't on screen everyone should be asking "where's Betty?"
43

We already do that. I want a Betty Trent spinoff with her solving crimes too.
13

I’d love a show that is just Betty shorts solving small crimes.

Everythingsthesame Apr 13, 2026 +27
I just lost 20 bucks in a bet because I was sure The Rookie was ending because each episode had become so outlandish. The story lines have been so crazy this past season. Serial killers, evil AI, a Con Air style prison break, Zombie type chemical leak, espionage missions in Prague. And those are just the A-plots.
27
Arinoch Apr 13, 2026 +16
Hey now! That evil AI ended up being good AI that later helped with a case _wildly inappropriately_ (at least that got acknowledged through a call to legal), and was such a deus ex machina that it had to get killed at the end of the episode. Outlandish you say!
16
Everythingsthesame Apr 13, 2026 +6
It was nice enough to call Nolan to let him and Bailey know it was dying. Real considerate for an evil AI.
6
Arinoch Apr 13, 2026 +8
I commented at the time that I wanted to think it was multitasking and like 10,000 people got a phone call at that moment.
8
Adezar Apr 13, 2026 +2
Now that just reminds me of the scene in Meet Joe Black where he explains that he can do his job and be on Earth at the same time.
2
Starmoses Apr 13, 2026 +2
Plus that AI one was based on a true story.
2
Gil_Demoono Apr 13, 2026 +2
Didn't the cast of 9-1-1 go to space last season? I don't think there is a ceiling on this stuff.
2
holla171 Apr 13, 2026 +12
Will Trent is an enjoyable show
12
RECollector0912 Apr 13, 2026 +7
Great news for the worlds biggest fan of the Rookie Nick Mason of the Weekly Planet. Weird that he keeps acting like he's never seen it though to throw James off.
7
ahumblecardamompod Apr 13, 2026 +10
Love Will Trent. I’ll keep showing up for Betty.

FluffyMoomin Apr 13, 2026 +25
Will Trent is one of the best newer shows. All of the supporting characters are great, and you really care about them. I can't really say the same about the supporting cast of High Potential, Matlock, Elsbeth, Wild Cards etc.
25
Dizzy_Ice2938 Apr 13, 2026 +18
I like High Potential and Elsbeth but I agree that the supporting characters aren’t given a lot of focus…
18
jdessy Apr 13, 2026 +6
I fell off of High Potential when I realized the supporting characters were never going to get more than one episode a season, at best, on material for themselves. I don't even hate High Potential, it's just frustrating to see so little being given to the actual recurring characters when they should be getting a whole lot more. I like when supporting characters on shows like these get a little more of an arc and not just one singular episode to maybe follow up on something.
6
whichwitch9 Apr 13, 2026 +9
Will Trent being good doesn't shock me cause I used to confuse Karin Slaughter books (the inspiration for the show) with Kathy Reichs books (the inspiration for Bones). It's something about that genere and style of writing that makes for addicting books and TV
9
peon2 Apr 13, 2026 +4
I agree, I like all the Will Trent characters. High Potential I like the main character and Karadec but everyone else could be swapped out and I wouldn't really care. Nick was growing on me too. Matlock I really just like Matlock and her husband, not sure what to think of the new guy yet that was replacing the a****** actor.
4
BoringAccount4Work Apr 13, 2026 +2
I can't agree with Wild Cards. Simmons I can do without, ironically I guess, but I love everyone else. I especially like the bond Max and the Captain are developing this season.

I'm surprised Will Trent took this long

IEatThyme Apr 13, 2026 +7
I have nightmares about Will Trents accent

___nicks Apr 13, 2026 +3
I enjoyed the rookie when It came out, and probably like 2-3 seasons of It Like any other show about cops It just became too much, threats are massive and unrealistic

rigellus Apr 13, 2026 +5
Nice, is Will Trent's season finale out yet? Love that whole cast
5
thetatershaveeyes Apr 13, 2026 +2
Will Trent season finale is in May I thought. Should be the 5th unless they take a break for a week like last year.

ToadallyNormalHuman Apr 13, 2026 +5
He's been a rookie for 8 years. When isnt he a rookie anymore?
5
Adezar Apr 13, 2026 +8
There are new rookies every couple seasons.

snowlock27 Apr 13, 2026 +2
I have to wonder if the people that ask this question have bothered to watch the show at all.
2
mrgpsingh1999 Apr 13, 2026 +3
Should be The Veteran at this point
3
iamacannibal Apr 13, 2026 +2

Somebody tell Maso his favorite show has been renewed

bomilk19 Apr 13, 2026 +2
How long can one guy be a rookie?
2
Arinoch Apr 13, 2026 +5
Not long - he’s been training rookies for a while now.

LucasJackson44 Apr 13, 2026 +2
Even though she’s hot they have to get rid of Jenna Dewans character, Bailey. Drives me nuts how the plug her into the plots.
2
MeltheCat Apr 13, 2026 +2
I don’t like that character either.
2
carmooch Apr 13, 2026 +2
It’s clear they are running out of ideas for The Rookie. It’s basically become the Fast and Furious of cop shows.
2
gordonious Apr 13, 2026 +2
Weird thing I’ve discovered at my job, “The Rookie” is like THE “Law and Order” for Gen Alpha. It’s seemingly the only procedural show young people watch. To me it seems random but I’m happy my forever captain Malcom Reynolds is finding consistent work.

It's your typical broadcast network police procedural. It's in no way high brow, and it also doesn't take itself too seriously and willingly leans into the silly. Plus the primary cast has good chemistry together, which is the secret ingredient for these shows that get many seasons. Some episodes are really dumb, but most are entertaining enough to keep watching. I think people set too high a bar for shows like this, and that's why it's criticized if it gets praise. No it's not the Wire. And it's not trying to be. They had a faux zombie episode a few week back, and recently did a crossover with a YT show! It's not trying to be what some of y'all think it should be.

Gotta keep the myth of the "good cop" going.

Has anybody ever met a Will Trent fan?

It’s a fun show 😂 That’s all I’ve got. But I do like it!

DnDonuts Apr 13, 2026 +11
I feel like it’s better than half of the detective/cop procedural out there. Good enough to watch when Im multitasking for sure. I like most of the characters well enough.

hyperisok Apr 13, 2026 +26
I like the show hahahaha. It's so good when I don't want to be fully invested in something but also don't want to watch trash.

I rather like it, although it has strayed quite a bit from the books.

captainedwinkrieger Apr 13, 2026 +5
It really isn't bad. My wife's a big fan, so I've definitely caught a bunch of it through osmosis.

I love it.

I like it, a lot more than High Potential. Really don't understand the popularity of High Potential.

Hi 👋 will trent book reader and show watcher here. The show is not true to the book, and the books are way better, but I love detective procedurals.
8
swimmingdropkick Apr 13, 2026 +5
The books are also so much darker. Like god damn some of the crimes are just brutal. Also holding out hope they cast a Sara Linton for the next season.
5
marshallmatters Apr 13, 2026 +5
I know! I couldn’t believe they were adapting the books for an ABC series!! I don’t understand why Will has had so many love interests that aren’t Sara Linton, it’s quite disappointing.

ryker888 Apr 13, 2026 +4
As far as network tv procedurals go it’s pretty good, nothing ground breaking but more interesting characters than most and Ramon Rodriguez is great in it

I like the show, but find the books to be simply ok. The characterizations of the peripheral players are annoying. The constant relationship drama makes them nearly unreadable.

My spouse. I have to leave the room bc his fake Georgia accent drives me up the wall.

You will today ✋

NIN10DOXD Apr 13, 2026 +2
I tried, but the accent hurts me as a someone from the Carolinas. It's just weird for a guy from present-day Georgia.
