The rookie

Posted by Miserable-co

I just started watching the show and I’m currently on episode 9 of season 1. I get that it’s TV and it’s not supposed to be realistic and yeah, if it were 100% realistic it would probably be boring but this feels way too over the top. It honestly seems like every five minutes there’s another big incident: arrests, shootouts, high-stakes situations back to back. There’s barely any time for things to slow down or for the show to breathe, so the action kind of loses its impact. I have no idea how the show managed to survive this long

You’re still in the grounded part. As others have said, they do out of continent black ops missions a few seasons in. Decent background show for a while but eventually it gets pretty bad.

Wait until you get to Skip tracer Randy and Bailey, then you know the shows jumped the shark so hard even Nathan can't save it.

If you're after cringe and over-the-the-top, you should DEFINITELY keep watching

Too over the top is it now? Just wait until you catch up to season 8. You’ll see.

Just wait until you get to the episodes where they fight terrorists in Mexico.

i could barely find interest in the first season to the point where i gave up on the show for a bit once i finished the season finale’s plotline. after i picked it up, half way through the 2nd season i became so hooked

That part gets worse. There's a shootout nearly every episode, and they're incredibly loud.  It's piss poor writing, but it's not intended to be prestige tv. It's low brow swill for people who don't look before crossing the street. There's some fun moments, but it's background noise for when you're playing games on your phone.  Though, the American Idol cold open that they do is a top 5 cold open of all time

That’s insane i’m gonna keep watching it just to see how bad it gets

If you don't take it seriously, it's just fun nonsense. Nathan Fillion is great, and the supporting cast does a great job

Fun fact. The actress who plays Lucy is the youngest w***** of Canadian Idol.

I know! That's what makes it so amazing!

My daughter recently started watching this (totally outside her normal type of show, but I think her new boyfriend suggested it). I'm often in the room while she has it on the family TV, and I've started commenting "Who are they shooting now?" at least once an episode to mock how often this one group of cops gets involved in gunplay.

I’m just shocked that a show called “the rookie” has been on for 8 seasons
