Just re-watched this last night; holds up well. Stellar cast includes George Maharis, Ed Asner, Richard Basehart, and Dana Andrews.
Plot concerns the complicated theft of an extremely virulent biological agent from a top-secret lab, and the attempts to stave off disaster.
This is an Alastair MacLean story, same guy who did Guns of Navaronne and many others.
I liked it, but it could have been 30-minutes shorter, and the villains do the usual stupid stuff like taking the hero hostage instead of just killing him, but still, a solid entry in the genre.
Also, it was nice to see Ed Asner playing a whispering heavy.

Yeah, he was convincingly menacing, wasn’t he?

Pretty good thriller with an excellent Jerry Goldsmith score.
