Homer turning on the radio to cover the smell might be tied for my favourite Homer moment with "You'll have to speak up, Im wearing a towel."

I feel like both the plan misdirect of picking up the "salesman wanted" sign and then saying "I'll steal this sign and they'll pay me to make them a new one!" and turning on the radio at the end are 2 very classic style Simpsons jokes. Boris' Car Loft is also a pretty great name gag.

The jokes are there. I think it’s the delivery. Homer was so oblivious during the golden era until he got angry, that’s when he became aggressive. Now he’s just aggressive and loud all the time.
