They knew their audience and they were captured. Well played

The maga billionaire that owns Coachella doesn’t care.

I don’t care that he doesn’t 🤷‍♂️

Back to back weeks phenomenal sets. Sucked they had to go before Beiber.

Wellcomefarewell Apr 20, 2026 +29
i love how every other social media comment section besides facebook and listnook have an issue with justin bieber rn lmao
29
Useful-Soup8161 Apr 20, 2026 +11
Didn’t he just basically do karaoke to his own music? Which is lazy as hell.
11
geenaleigh Apr 20, 2026 +8
He sang a full 30+ song set. That was incredibly overblown.
8
Useful-Soup8161 Apr 20, 2026 +1
Damn how long was his set? There’s not usually time for that many songs.
1
geenaleigh Apr 20, 2026 +3
Headliners get 90 minute sets. So that tracks with the amount of songs.  I watched this weekends performance after the stories came out from week 1 and honestly it was a great set. He had a lot of fun and was totally into connecting with the fans. He just like minimalist performances.
3
Normal_Pace7374 Apr 20, 2026 +2
His week 2 was a fantastic performance. Really showcased how good his adult voice is. Prefacing a comeback tour.
2
Bitter_Breakfast9665 Apr 20, 2026 +10
Beibers pretty f****** lame. Sucks he was abused, but nonetheless.....
10
smokedfishfriday Apr 20, 2026 +8
He’s quite talented, not sure what you mean by
8
kegster2 Apr 20, 2026 +14
Unsure if talented and lameness are correlated
14
Wellcomefarewell Apr 20, 2026 +18
typing “i just don’t like him” is an easier way to convey what you’re conveying
18
CoolBakedBean Apr 20, 2026 -4
what makes someone lame then? in my head , being a talented singer is by definition not lame lol. it makes you super cool . idk i guess i don’t hate on anyone tho. everything is pretty awesome like they say in the lego movie. but yeah man, whenever i hear beauty and a beat… it him singing in “stay” when i used to drink i loved that f****** shit. justin bieber is popular for a reason. his voice is great and he has musical talent. justin is not lame!
-4
kegster2 Apr 20, 2026 +1
I’m saying your level of talent does not directly dictate your level of lameness
1
aaronappleseed Apr 20, 2026 +1
Being talented has nothing to do with a person's personality. I don't know Justin Bieber personally, but I wouldn't begrudge anyone who has paid a little attention to him for thinking he was lame.
1
CoolBakedBean Apr 20, 2026 -2
talent is a huge part of someone’s personality lmao what you talking about
-2
aaronappleseed Apr 20, 2026 +3
You've never met a really talented person whose personality was garbage? I'm sure Kanye, Bill Cosby, and Shia LeBeouf all have great personalities as well, since they are talented.
3
CoolBakedBean Apr 20, 2026 -2
ah i see, you’re illiterate. talent is a part of everyone’s personality, including bill cosby. he’s a rapist and an awful person. but i wouldn’t call him lame. his talent and comedy show the cool sides of his personality
-2
The-Narcissist Apr 20, 2026 +1
Haters gonna hate
1
Broad_Mushroom_8033 Apr 20, 2026 -1
He is comparable to Michael Jackson
-1
The-Narcissist Apr 20, 2026 -2
Bieber is the truth and this is coming from someone who doesn’t even like that type of music. Him bringing MK gee up to play daisies is one of my favorite live performances. Nothing cooler than hopping in my car and hearing a random new song on the radio and being like “wait this has to be the MK gee tascam ranger baritone crunch” and lo-and-behold it was. He gave a stripped down Yukon performance a few weeks ago that was top tier. Hating things because others do is so high school.
-2
Bigchunky_Boy Apr 19, 2026 +88
A few artist did the same . Good on them .
88
fcatw Apr 20, 2026 +54
This is so refreshing to see. Most modern day bands, DJ’s and pop would never. They’re too afraid
54
NailingCatsToTrees_ Apr 20, 2026 +9
Most modern *mainstream* bands. This is extremely common in the metal scene.
9
The-Narcissist Apr 20, 2026 +2
Same with the punk scene but obviously they don’t have huge mainstream sponsors and labels that will drop their ass if they do something like this. It’s different.
2
NailingCatsToTrees_ Apr 20, 2026 +1
Yes, it is different. The obscure metal and punk bands aren't in it for the money. These millionaire popstars can absolutely afford to lose a sponsor over speaking out. They just won't because they're in it for the money, not the message.

The auto tune left me dumbfounded. Who listens to that and thinks it’s good? Sorry. It’s just not my thing. I can’t understand it. Without it, the song is good.

I like the strokes but when I saw them in SF they sounded more like conservatives, they kept talking about how horrible California was Glad they turned it around
17

well they’re famously from New York so that’s not surprising

People can be liberal and still hate California, maybe that's all it was.
89
Brilliant_Trouble_32 Apr 20, 2026 +24
Look at Portland. Overwhelmingly very liberal, overwhelmingly hate California.
24
doctorwho86101 Apr 20, 2026 +1
Yeah...it's like that meme about workplace harassment: Cali- Hey ;) "hello? HR??" NYC- Sup? ;) "aww ur sweet :))" I think the proximity makes us cranky.
1
Ciggytardust1 Apr 20, 2026 +15
I’m liberal and dislike a lot of things about California.
15
flamingdonkey Apr 20, 2026 +2

11

I'm a liberal from Utah and I love California. Mostly for its natural beauty, however.
9
toritxtornado Apr 20, 2026 +1
i'm a liberal from maryland and texas and like california
1
AmarilloArmadillos Apr 20, 2026 +1
I didn't say that, but I don't disagree..... At least for me it's also directly related to the people I've met who live there or are from there. The state itself is "meh". Eta: also not like I'm claiming my state is good, I hate it here and I'd love to leave.
1
Low_Intention_1327 Apr 20, 2026 +25
Some New Yorkers hate the city and theyre not conservatives.  What was it that they said exactly?
25
Tezerel Apr 20, 2026 +2
They made a joke, I don't remember exactly how it went but it was essentially asking which was worse homeless people or California It was really weird to say in SF. Outside Lands
2
Low_Intention_1327 Apr 20, 2026 +4
Lol my cousin went to Hollywood and said there were a lot of homeless people. I think it was a joke, stupid but a joke
4
AphexTaco Apr 20, 2026 +3
Idk if you’ve ever been to real Hollywood proper but there are objectively a ton of homeless people there compared to the rest of California - the name carries no weight
3
Low_Intention_1327 Apr 20, 2026 -1
No, I should have wrote my last response better. Were from NY, the town I live in itself has homeless people on Mainstreet, so were used to it. He was just taken back by how many there were in Hollywood. I dont know if he went to other areas, I forget. But yeah, he didnt say he hated California,  but the homeless problem seems to be a biggie. Going in with no knowledge of Hollywood other than it being an area rich in movie stars, you wouldn't expect it to have so many homeless. Youd expect that in South central, or other areas. Ive never been though.
-1
MoneyElevator Apr 20, 2026 +1
Hollywood Hills is where the movie stars live. Kinda like Riverdale and the Bronx
1
VirtualPen204 Apr 20, 2026 +6
California is a really big place, and has had large pockets of conservatives for a long time. Go visit Huntington Beach or Newport Beach, for example.
6
altcntrl Apr 20, 2026 +5
You can dislike California and not be conservative.
5

7
beegtuna Apr 20, 2026
I’ve lived there. It’s all traffic and hype
0
AnewTest Apr 20, 2026 +1
Be glad that you lived in a place where traffic was the worst of your concerns. And not, y'know, having your existence made illegal.
1
SpinItUpLockItUp Apr 20, 2026 -3
that’s not happening
-3
AaronRulesALot Apr 20, 2026 -5
Theres about 40 other states, half of them bumfuck red states, objectively worse than cali. Does traffic not exist in other states? Is that the end all be all? lol cali haters are actually manufactured bots
-5
IPissExcellentThrows Apr 20, 2026 +7
[literally first link I could find has California with worst traffic in the nation](https://tripnet.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Interstate_Overdrive_Magazine_06-24-2021.pdf) I promise you when people are saying California sucks, it's not the weather. It's beautiful. It's the traffic, the taxes/cost of living, and most importantly, the most arrogant people in the country, who can't even acknowledge blatant flaws in their state.
7
Hutch_travis Apr 20, 2026 +1
California may have more “limousine liberals” and NIMBY Karen’s too. Thus why Julian is extra critical.
1
AaronRulesALot Apr 20, 2026 -2
Is traffic really end all be all? There’s prolly 10 other blue states better in those regards, I’ll give u that. I live in socal btw not LA. If u live in the city I don’t think it’s crazy to expect some traffic. Also the cost is high cuz everybody wants to live here man what can I say. It’s hyped up for a reason. It can be better, like they’re building a lot around me now but we need more housing for sure. Think that’s a problem across all the states and it’s looking like dems are waking up to that. Also not to sound arrogant myself but half this country are filled with actually ignorant, awkward, racist losers in bum f*** states and counties voting for the destruction of the nation whilst saying it’s California that’s the problem somehow lol It’s prolly the most diverse and makes THE most money compared to all others. Beside New York, it’s prolly the quintessential example of what a true American f****** state is and should strive to be.
-2
InThreeWordsTheySaid Apr 20, 2026 +6
Sitting in traffic fucks you up, mentally and physically. Not that it’s the end all be all, but I moved to get away from it. I moved from New York though, which also has traffic (but better public transportation than LA, at least). I see NYC and the more populated parts of California as more or less the same: awesome if you can afford to avoid all the bullshit. Which I cannot.
6
AaronRulesALot Apr 20, 2026
Yea that’s fair, but I’d never go as far to say as the states of cali and New York are terrible just because of the traffic. It’s disregarding like 10 more important things, like laws/rights, healthcare access, quality of life, opportunity, diversity, beauty/cleanliness, etc, which California excels at all.
0
AmarilloArmadillos Apr 20, 2026 +4
Quality of life. You mean one of the states topping per capita in homelessness, and also with the worst air quality, and that's not even touching your water problem. Yeah. Excels.
4
Troviel Apr 20, 2026 +1
As the current economy shows "making the most money" is not necessarily the plus you mean for the average joe when a lot of that is concentrated in some selective fields.
1
AaronRulesALot Apr 21, 2026 +1
I think the average Joe here has more better quality of life than at least like 35 other states. More opportunity. More rights. Can u seriously say California is a trash state? It sounds so stupid to say bro I need u to concede that Edit: I’ll do u one better, name me 3 better states than Cali and why.
1
pouredmygutsout Apr 20, 2026 +2
I love California. When I leave, I forget that I really shouldn’t have wore my t-shirt and shorts to dinner. Casual to the extreme on the west coast.

The dad he’s talked shit about since day 1 and didn’t talk to? Some weird wiki edits make it seem like there’s astroturfing going on right now on it.
36
altcntrl Apr 20, 2026 +9
Anytime anyone has an opinion the internet will look to discredit the person and not the message. It helps keep everyone inline and for some reason people think you must be pure to say anything and remain silent if not. It’s weird.
9
plamda505 Apr 20, 2026 +11
The part Americans don't get is how much the rest of the world hates them. They should be careful. as they need to stay strong for the coming corporate wars. New alliances will be formed and reformed and in the end four corporations will rule what is left of the world.
11
ikyle117 Apr 20, 2026 +32

I teach abroad as an American and I can assure you there is a massive difference between American cultural exports/influence and actually loving what america is/stands for on the world stage. Worth noting those things. None of my students hate America they just hate trump they’re actually quite fascinated by the country because it’s government is so shite but its influence is so strong Edit: wording
13
wewawoowagh Apr 20, 2026 +2
every country that has undergone a structural adjustment programme or had to radically deregulate in order to be admitted to the world trade organisation. the washington consensus has done irreparable damage to third world economies. latin america and the middle east have been completely fucked by american-led economic reform, not to mention american military activity.

Adam__B Apr 20, 2026 +1
Yep, after spending $650 a ticket, and eating $100 caviar burgers with $20 lemonade, the audience gets a good taste of self-righteous anger at the political establishment they helped vote in.
1
Ap0llo Apr 20, 2026 +7
Are you suggesting the crowd at Coachella votes Republican? I would say 20% tops.

45
Signal_Ball4634 Apr 20, 2026 +19
Listnook does this shit a lot, particularly the pop culture subs. Stg the first thing I see with any post about a celeb is some random, sometimes pretty weak or vague, reason people have for shunning them.
19
AaronRulesALot Apr 20, 2026 +12
lol true. Isn’t this the guy whose cousin’s dog’s adopted child said that one thing that one time?
12
mongoliandragon Apr 20, 2026 +1
The dichotomy is weird. They praise Elon Musk's children for speaking up against him but then turn around and try to do gotcha's every time Julian Casablancas is brought up.

It's not really "fiery" when these have been talking points outside the states for like 40 years
-12
SaMonkeyBoy Apr 20, 2026 +3
It's fiery here in the states because public opinion on Israel has plummeted dramatically in the last few years, but it's still a very controversial opinion to have. Until videos of the most recent Gaza war started to pop up on social media, most people here didn't have any thought towards Israel, especially younger millenials and Gen Z. The same goes for the US involvement in other countries throughout history. While we definitely knew about it, it wasn't a hot button issue until more recently when, again, these topics started to spring up on social media. A lot of Americans are waking up to our own atrocities.

The fact that the Strokes have had some absolute bangers fully aside, is there supposed to be a time limit on appreciating music? Do you comment this on posts about the Beatles? Elvis? Beethoven?
27
1questions Apr 19, 2026 +22
Not at all a fan of The Strokes, but this is kind of a stupid comment. If a band plays Coachella is pretty obvious a good amount of people are listening to them. If you don’t like them then just say that.
