My wife and I decided to give this show a try as we really like Epps and Sykes and have good memories of Fields (Different Strokes / The Facts of Life). With the exception of 1 - maybe 2 episodes - he seems to be waiting for someone to give him a cue to do his next line. Thoughts?
He's *extremely* hit or miss. He's hilarious as Day-Day in the Friday movies and in All About the Benjamins, but he ruins almost everything else he's ever been in. Idk what it is about him, even his standup is just boring af. He definitely has the ability to be funny, it's like he just doesn't want to or forgot how to.

Yeah, he feels like one of those “needs the right playground” actors. With strong writers and a loud character (like Day-Day) he kills, low-energy, multi-cam dad jokes just expose the awkward pauses.

Although his screen time was limited, he was outstanding in S***urvivor's Remorse***. Some will call it stereotyping, but he stole many of the scenes he was in.
