I'm sorry Day 6? Aren't we on day 20?

Lettuce_bee_free_end Mar 19, 2026 +136
It cant last longer than a week. So its like the doomsday clock.

JamesVirani Mar 19, 2026 +42
Yep. That number is also much much much higher. It doesn't take into account the damage from the rising cost of energy. It doesn't take into account 4 US aircrafts lost already, 1 other damaged, with a 6th F35 damaged today. As well as Gerald Ford damaged. That's like 400 mil worth of aircrafts alone. Who knows what the damage to Gerald Ford is. Meanwhile, the US generates a lot of revenue from this too, selling those patriot missiles and other weapons to gulf countries and Israel.

alxzsites Mar 19, 2026 +54
No the US already won that round. This is a new war.
54
lostredditorlurking Mar 19, 2026 +20
Trump is going to ended 50 wars by the end of the year.
20
alficles Mar 20, 2026 +5
And I've already quit smoking six times just today!
5
starrpamph Mar 19, 2026 +4
That was just the alpha version of the concept of a war. Now we are on to a true beta version of it
4
Anandya Mar 19, 2026 +2
What about second war? Elevenses?
2
alxzsites Mar 19, 2026 +1
I don't think he knows about that. Probably jumped straight to 6th
1
BillWilberforce Mar 19, 2026 +13
The US published some of the costs but only going up to day 6. However they're asking for an additional $200 billion from Congress to pay for the war.
13
grogi81 Mar 19, 2026 +1
Couldn't they use the $200 bln to pay reparation and end this by now....?
1
Ok-Lingonberry-9619 Mar 19, 2026 +7
“by day six” meaning after the 6th day
7
hueythecat Mar 19, 2026 +3
It’s whatever they say, mainstream media is well beyond post truth.
3
wha2les Mar 19, 2026 +1
day 6 of admitting it is a war haha
1
Newtiresaretheworst Mar 19, 2026 +1
Yeah. So if all days are equal the 42 billion so far
1
RottenPingu1 Mar 20, 2026 +1
It's day 6 version 3.0. Don't feel embarrassed...you'll appreciate it with a nice glass of Kool aid.

Own_Nose_3542 Mar 19, 2026 +169
The number is so big for such a short amount of time, it's hard to process. From the article: Cost the same as one year of ... Paying 9% of the US's elementary school teachers Paying 47% of the US's firefighters Medical care for 693,000 veterans 1.5m public housing units Medicaid for 3.6m children
169
Ironvos Mar 19, 2026 +88
Yea, but none of that helps the rich people that donate to trump.
88
Own_Nose_3542 Mar 19, 2026 +16
Absolutely correct. I quoted the figures from the article for reference. There's no doubt in my mind Trump, or any president, would ever choose the public over rich donors or corporate interests.
16
Jeansus_ Mar 19, 2026 +25
Conservatives: “So you’re telling me those teachers are grossly overpaid, got it. We’ll get on that.”
25
Peligineyes Mar 19, 2026 +7
But how does any of that help Israel?
7
Korietsu Mar 20, 2026 +4
Approximately $43 out of every American's pocket.
4
jhairehmyah Mar 20, 2026 +1
He is asking for $200bn to continue the war.
1
TheGreatPornholio123 Mar 20, 2026 +1
That's not even counting the market value wiped out of people's 401Ks.
1
BlueBlooper Mar 20, 2026 +1
Honestly the medicaid and medical would just get taken advantage of wouldnt it
1
Spire_Citron Mar 20, 2026 -1
Wouldn't be surprised if they're intentionally inflating costs, like how ICE detains people for months on end for no good reason just so someone gets paid for holding them. It's something that always happens with war, so I can't imagine this administration not supercharging the opportunity.
-1
justbunnies Mar 19, 2026 +47
But no money for our starving citizens and healthcare.
47
alxzsites Mar 19, 2026 +18
Have you tried starting a SCPAC (Starving Citizens PAC) and buying some senators?
18
Th1rte3n1334 Mar 19, 2026 +192
This doesn’t cover all the costs btw… like the million dollar missiles we were shooting one after another. Spent more in 6 days than USAID would spend in a year.
192
Zombie_Cool Mar 19, 2026 +122
You don't understand, USAID was in the busniess of *helping* people, that's what made it so wasteful!
122
SqueezyCheez85 Mar 19, 2026 +22
We're only allowed to help the rich.
22
Osiris32 Mar 19, 2026 +3
We don't *help* the rich, we *assist* them to become more successful!
3
DanS1993 Mar 19, 2026 +40
Yeah but USAID would have spent it on woke c*** like food and medicine
40
Th1rte3n1334 Mar 19, 2026 +14
Medication is really woke especially those things called vaccines, and especially those new woke mRNA vaccines.
14
superbakedveteran Mar 19, 2026 +13
Estimated 800k people died in 2025 because of ending USAID.
13
freedfg Mar 19, 2026 +5
This is always the sticking point.. Forget war. The amount of money that Donald Trump has personally been given this month could end world hunger. But tell me about how there just isn't any in the budget.
5
TruckHangingHandJam Mar 20, 2026 +1
I can help out with that. It costs between 3-10M in anti air defense per drone/missile. Those Iranian drones cost less than 100k a pop (and those are the fancy ones). Oh and we lack the industrial capacity to replace them, I believe we make around 500 THAAD interceptors *per year*, and it takes a minimum of two to intercept (and oh boy is the interception not guaranteed lol).  Modern wars are really won through industrial capacity and the 50 years of deindustrialization of the US and its western allies is realllllllllly f****** showing how stupid that was.  On the other hand, f*** empire.

aaronhayes26 Mar 19, 2026 +34
And the pentagon is currently cooking up a $200bn request from Congress for continuing action in the region. Nearly over, my ass.
34
ParameciaAntic Mar 19, 2026 +9
That's about how much DOGE claimed it saved in "wasteful" government spending. Good thing it's going to something productive now! /s
9
FencePaling Mar 21, 2026 +2
Hey come on DOGE worked hard: *Ctrl+F .... 'Grants' ... Delete*
2
CivilGothic Mar 19, 2026 +28
Tomahawk missile: $3.5m. Air defense munitions: $5.7bn. Being despised, denounced, and humiliated on a global scale: Priceless.
28
c0xb0x Mar 19, 2026 +14
That rate plus the fact that Pentagon is asking for $200bn to fund the war seem to clash with Trump's claim that the war is nearly over.
14
opeth10657 Mar 19, 2026 +3
I mean, I can see the war ending and all the surplus vanishes. Meanwhile a new fleet of yachts is built for the CEOs
3
noseshimself Mar 19, 2026 +25
All that socialist shit... Health care, free education, housing. This is the US of Capitalism. Government spending is not meant for people but for governing. Why waste it on people who don't amount to anything anyways and never will? Voters? People will vote for anything as long as you keep them dumb enough to believe your lies. And about that little war... The tariffs will finance it. Promised. If not, the inccrease oil prices will.
25
Pdxcooter Mar 19, 2026 +8
Department of education budget is 70 billion. We have priorities all messed up.
8
DinkleMutz Mar 19, 2026 +8
Welp...there goes all that money DOGE "saved" us.
8
mompos Mar 19, 2026 +7
And they want me to pay taxes.
7
spectre401 Mar 19, 2026 +11
And it's just going to climb exponentially, I wonder when the US will hit 40T in debt, or for that matter, 50T.
11
CoinAndCraft_ Mar 19, 2026 +4
No graph for the shrimp and lobster purchases?

From the article in The Guardian: >More than 3,000 people are believed to have been killed across Iran so far, and the Pentagon says more than 15,000 targets in the country have been hit in the first two weeks. A girls’ school in the south-eastern Iranian city of Minab lies in rubble, with about 175 children and teachers killed in a strike that the US is believed to have carried out. The strait of Hormuz, the narrow sea passage turned chokepoint for the Gulf’s oil and the world, is, in effect, closed. >And the bill, according to analysts at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, is growing by roughly half a billion dollars every day. >A week after American and Israeli forces began their assault on Iran, and its repressive leadership, Pentagon officials told lawmakers in a closed-door briefing that the cost of the war had already exceeded $11.3bn in its first six days. >But that figure is only part of the story: sources familiar with the content of the briefing told the Guardian the estimate appeared largely limited to munitions expenditures and not the full cost of the opening days of the conflict, which could include forces deployed to the region, medical expenses, and the replacement of military aircraft lost in combat. >By day six, CSIS put the cumulative cost at $12.7bn. Today, it is likely to have exceeded $18bn – and the meter is still running.
5
spaceballsrules Mar 19, 2026 +5
And now they want another $200 billion to continue fighting the war.
5
todaysthedaytoday Mar 19, 2026 +5
Why is this being called a war? Did Congress declare war?
5
joshine89 Mar 19, 2026 +4
i wonder how much trump and co have funneled out of this war? if there is an grift trump will grift.
4
itsatumbleweed Mar 19, 2026 +4
I just want healthcare
4
Lonely_Noyaaa Mar 19, 2026 +5
$12.7 billion in six days. That's over $2 billion per day.
5
-Ny- Mar 20, 2026 +3
Which adds upp to nearly a trillion if this keeps going for a year.

church-rosser Mar 19, 2026 -3

Educational_Lie_3157 Mar 19, 2026 +3
Can’t wait to see the baby oil receipts.
3
Tasty_Principle_518 Mar 19, 2026 +3
They just asked for another 200 billion so enough to fund their war for a little over 3 months
3
MarvinKesselflicker Mar 19, 2026 +3
Medicare for 3.7m children is crazy. There are 10m in poverty rn… so two more weeks and the us could pay medicare for all children in poverty.
3
Bob-the-cat21 Mar 20, 2026 +3
Wait wait, today they were asking for $200B extra to continue the war. Will the tax payer be ok with that?
3
tooshpright Mar 19, 2026 +4
Wonder how much the US tariffs have brought in so far, enough to cover the war perhaps?
4
grogi81 Mar 19, 2026 +2
Does this include the direct US-military infrastructure damage? We're not going to include the civilian infrastructure damage in allied countries...
2
smartfon Mar 19, 2026 +2
Lobster Pete is lying. **They said:** We hit 2,500 targets in the first couple of days. **They said:** Iran's air defenses weren't destroyed until the 5th day, so we couldn't fly our jets inside Iran to drop the cheaper dumb bombs. **That means:** We only used long-range expensive missiles during the first 5 days. If a single piece costs $3.5m then we blew $8.8b on the offense alone, in the first 5 days alone. Another $6b on defense, plus our ground losses. ~$16b including the cost of deployment, as of day 5.
2
veryboredatwork Mar 20, 2026 +2
And how much has it cost the world in high oil prices, lost business, cancelled flights, higher energy costs…Yeah gee Thanks Mr Trump, we’re really grateful here….now I’ve got to worry about terrorist cells wearing special jackets too….grateful for this ‘opportunity’
2
Floreat_democratia Mar 20, 2026 +2
Can't spend any money on universal healthcare or education or housing or food or the environment, but can spend unlimited cash on war. Liars and crooks; every last one of them.
2
dooit Mar 20, 2026 +2
Fiscal conservatives love debt 🥰
2
msherretz Mar 20, 2026 +1
I don't agree with some of these costs. The munitions had to be bought in previous years/budgets to be used. Will they be replenished? Yes, but also over years. Why not also include the costs to build the ships and planes, if we go that far?

MrRourkeYourHost Mar 20, 2026 +1
Firefighters are even more underpaid than school teachers?

What an excellent way to bankrupt the US Treasury, what with the big IRS personal deductions which are not diminished by the now defunct tariffs. Could this be the deal that pres47 made with Russia as part of his re-election strategy? Then there's the other costs, the emotional strain of military members and their families, and the continuing aggravation and frustration that the vast majority of the US population feel towards this unwarranted involvement is Israel's quest against all Islam-majority nations. How does this conflict benefit the vast majority of the US population, now or in the future?
