I think thiels plan is to muddy the waters around the antichrist and make it so that calling out the “antichrist” becomes the boy who cried wolf. Biblically accurate, yeah. As opposed to what thiel suggests, which is to say that regulating capitalism is the sign of the Antichrist.
I think the goal is to distract and prevent Christians from identifying actual evil and immoral people and to make secular people think that Christians are stupid, thus preventing both groups from joining toghether and actually taking on the people sowing discord and entrenching inequality (wealthy, deeply immoral people like thiel)

Aliens. One of my tinfoil hat theories is that all the action of the last decade has been the powers that be preparing to be colonized or joined into a galactic federation, where maybe humans are disarmed and power structures are frozen. They want to be the ones on top when the bell rings. Maybe there are even places/resources/artifacts that the aliens would consider valuable or a sign that the holder is a valid representative of earth.
The other one of course is that we are indeed headed for global climate catastrophe and that's why so much posturing is happening. Fossil fuel and energy in general then becomes very important for survival (heating/cooling) and also so many will die that wars will seem inconsequential by comparison

Yeah, they didn't read his book on justifying bigotry called "The Diversity Myth."
So, he's gotta, you know, lie his ass off in their proximity.
That will show them!
I can just imagine him now: "It's god's will to view all of human existence from my single point of view that also coincidentally makes me rich and screws you all. God is a giant reverse robin hood theft scam that has me at the top of the pyramid."
Sorry, but the whole "pretending to be god to rip people off with scams thing" is way too far from reasonable. He's a criminal thug and nothing more. Even for him, this is way too far and he just totally trashed any shred of "credibility" that he had. "It's clear that Peter has nothing more to offer than just a bunch of scams."
I also don't understand why anybody with that much money "wants to go to prison." I don't get it. One would think that a reasonable person would "reduce their risk level once they were that wealthy," but he's not a reasonable person, he's rather a criminal thug.
We can not allow these rich scammers, to "use religion as a vehicle to rip people off with scams." What he is doing is "absolutely totally disgusting."
Most of the people who participate in those religions only follow the parts of the religion that "lead them to being a good person" and he's using that "as a tool to rip them off." I don't understand how it's even possible to be more evil. "It's evil, turned all the way to 10."

IIRC, Revelations was largely written as an allegory for Emperor Nero, who had persecuted Christians (there's claims that he had the apostles Peter and Paul murdered, for instance)
Looking at revelations through that lens, the antichrist just being a populist who uses his power to hurt people, you can see the similarities line up for lots of leaders throughout history

It's amazing to me that, when it comes to the New Testament, you have the gospels, the acts of the apostles, the letters of Paul, and then you have this crazy fever dream written by some random guy (no one's quite sure who John of Patmos was) who was probably high on shrooms which somehow made it in there and has been driving people insane ever since. That may be true but there are many people who genuinely do believe this stuff, and if using this rhetoric makes them recognize the people actually destroying the world then so be it. I'd rather that than having to deal with trying to dismantle someone's entire religious framework and then build like class consciousness over what, a conversation?
We don't have the time or material conditions to do that, right now its what works to put a brake on things because we're all on the verge of driving off a cliff.
17
Randomwhitelady2Mar 15, 2026

You have to come to Christians with their religion. There are a lot of us out there, we know the stories and we know his words even if we no longer “believe” literally. The fact is that Jesus was a cool dude, if he existed. Even if he didn’t, his words are a light in the darkness. Even if you aren’t religious you should read them because it’s the truth of love and humanity.
If Christians recognize the truth of his words and not the lies of the false prophets promoting the agenda of an anti Christ, we will all be better off, worldwide, for it.
It doesn’t matter if it’s “real”
Matthew 25: 30-40 This is a beautiful verse, and Jesus own words supposedly
35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,
36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’
37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink?
38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you?
39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’
40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers,[f] you did it to me.’

he already emerged - and thiel helped elect him

Theil is definitely anti christ. Thessalonians talks about this. 2 Thessalonians: 9-12:
9 The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, 10 and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, 12 in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Thiel is dangerous and he is smart. He's spending time, effort and money on convincing others with money and power to support his cause:
Thiel is trying to flip the script outlined by Rene Girard where societies and economies and people need someone to identify and point them to the object of their desire, to focus their time, money and power on creating the political utopia Thiel and his crew want where they are in charge and governments and nations and the world are run like tech-bro corporations with board members who vote proportional to their wealth and power to elect a CEO cum dictator they own and control.
Thiel's object is his idea for a utopia, a technocratic oligarchy he and his tech-bro and elite billionaire class own and run.
In Thiel's philosophy (and that of his mentors and inner-circle), democracy and representative governments and regulated markets and economies are inefficient and messy and are interfering with their idea of "progress."
Thiel is also trying to flip the script of the Anti-Christ (aka, Girard's 'scapegoat'), and instead of the billionaire power and wealthy elite being cast as the evil source of society's woes, Thiel wants to cast anyone who opposes him and wants to tax or regulate AI and tech and the elite as the scapegoats and the Anti-Christ. Anyone who opposes him.
So far, he's at least getting a LOT of attention from the tech, billionaire and ruling class in his secret closed-door lectures on why they should destroy democracy and representative government and overthrow it for elite-run oligarchy modeled on Thiel & Co.'s political corporation.
This is dangerous and scary because these people have power and money and already own almost everything. They love to hear that they should own and run and control everything. They love what Thiel is telling them.

Italy was the birthplace of fascism, was it not? I suspect Thiel has wealthy supporters who trace their roots back to loving the same lines of thinking out of Mussolini and Hitler.
Religion has always been a political tool to control the masses and give moral high ground cover to the rich controlling and abusing the rest of us. These periods of evil power have typically ended by violent uprising.

For the majority of the history of the Roman Catholic Church anyone that would have dared to do something like this would have unquestionably been burned at the stake as a heretic. Will the Vatican denounce this? Or continue the tradition of promoting extremism and fascism?

Thiel & Co., billionaire tech elites, want to preempt being blamed for the ills of inequality and the concentration of power and wealth by flipping the script, spinning the accusation and shifting blame, and labeling anyone who opposes their agenda, attempts to restrict, tax or regulate their new A.I. gods and their ruling class, or wants any solution but their own as the Anti-Christ(s), to be resisted and removed as evil.
They want governments and nations - and the world - to be ruled by their elite A.I. enabled tech corporate oligarchy, with dictators-for-life, aka, all powerful "CEO's" appointed and controlled by them, the wealthy and powerful. This, they propose, will usher in a new utopia and solve all humanity's ills and problems - well, the problems and challenges of the elite anyway.
The wealthy, the powerful, the influential, love to hear this and be told that they have some kind of divine right to rule and that anyone who opposes or threatens or hinders their agenda is evil and so they're justified in both demonizing their enemies and crushing them.
(See my earlier comments for more detail.)

Catholics are actually a lot more sane when it comes to this BS. They don’t believe the end times are some future historical period we are approaching. This end-times belief comes from Protestant Dispensationalist theology.

I know people don't like hearing this but everything in the Christian Bible about the antichrist was already finished by the time the book was written. The writers were reacting to things in their own day, as well as speculating about the future.
The number 666 and 616 are numerology for Nero Caesar. There were a lot of rumors circulating in the first century that Nero would return, and there were copycats who actually claimed to be Nero. This spread fear and uncertainty among Roman and non-Roman alike.
1st cenury Christians were understandably terrified of Roman persecution, and saw Jesus as the antidote to that system.
25% of the modern human population alive today is Christian. 26% of the world pooulation is Muslim. 0.2% is Jewish.
That's 51.2% of the current human population that believes in some variety of Abrahamic monotheistic tradition.
Many of the wars we see today are European monotheist versus European monotheist IE Russia Ukraine, or Middle Eastern monotheist versus Middle Eastern monotheist Israel Palestine conflict.
Just buy the numbers these traditions are in the majority, so it's like we're stuck inside of their fanfiction whether we want it or not.
The real sources of these conflicts are the usual wars about land, resources, social dominance, etc. with a lot of religious baggage mixed in as justification.
Peter Thiel and the like-minded nut bars with their end times twaddle are full-blown crazy, not least of which because all of these guys should have the education and do, to know not engage in this kind of conspiracy thinking.
The stuff they are planning, thinking about, engaging in, fearing, etc. might well be inspired by stories in the biblical books, but they have no real tangible connection to those books, because those books were written 20 centuries ago in the iron age by people who didn't know about things like germ theory, or about the existence of a whole other continent IE Americs.
Learn to treat the Bible as the ancient literature that it is, learn about it with that lens and you might sleep a little better. I stress might because of all these guys walking around using it and sci-fi as inspiration in the most negative way that they can.
It's like somebody took the alien franchise, and Terminator, put them in a blender with some brave New World and 1984, with a little bit of Bible for seasoning.

The obsession with the antichrist is a facet of [Dispensationalism](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dispensationalism?wprov=sfti1). It’s a Protestant theology that is *premillennial* - they believe that the end times described in the Bible represent real future events that are coming soon.
This view is considered heretical by the Catholic Church and is most Protestant denominations. But it has been embraced by many Evangelical churches.

The actions of the old churches were too brutal to take seriously, but the modern age IS making me rethink my stance on the church's severity regarding heresy. People like Thiel cause tremendous political damage. Seen strictly as a political measure, maybe the old church knew what they were doing, as heads of the power structures of their time. Again, their remedies were far too brutal but I can see the wisdom in imprisoning people like Thiel.
