General strike. Everyone unionize. Make it happen, America.

The problem is its a lot easier said than done. You gotta convince people unions actually WILL work in their best effort, and that even if their boss is good, they still need a union to protect them in case the next boss ain't so nice. You gotta organize this, put together funds, and hope that you trying to set this up doesn't lead to higher ups deciding to make an excuse to fire you in an at-will state.

This is exactly it. I was involved in union organizing. It's very hard to overcome enough people's inertia and fear to get a critical mass. When times are good, people don't want to go to the effort of organizing and it doesn't feel important. When times get bad, suddenly too many people are in fear of losing their jobs and don't want to take the risk of being found out and fired.

Its what people who already have unions fail to understand. Its easy to *say* "Oh everyone should just unionize" its a lot harder when its your money, and your job on the line

We know it's hard. But we see the avlue, and how our forbearers were willing to pay to being us all a great future. People need to have the willingness to plant a tree.

Agreed. I will push always for it, even at risk of my own money. But not everyone is willing, some people don't see the value, others don't feel like its enough of a return to risk it. Especially in the current market of "Change jobs every 5 years" for some people

I love the argument that older generations have.
" When I was their age I worked forty hours a week, supported my wife and six children, payed my mortgage, and put the kids through college. These young people are lazy and just want handouts."
No. They would like to have jobs that allowed them to do the same things you did. Now they have two parents working, barely able to pay rent, living paycheck to paycheck, and hoping their kids will have a better life.
If we had the same pay, job security, and pensions for retirement that people working in the sixties and seventies no one would be as mad as they are now.

Republicans: “We need to focus on helping support Americans first.”
Also Republicans: “These workers on strike should all be fired.”

It’s like we’re gathering and standing up for ourselves on a regular basis. You’re going to want to really pay attention Washington.

Not at all, but I know many union guys who voted for trump because they thought he was going to do no tax on overtime. They didn't read that it won't apply to people with collective bargaining agreements.

>it won't apply to people with collective bargaining agreements.
That's wrong.
No Tax on Overtime CAN apply to people under collective bargaining agreements. In other words, being under a collective bargaining agreement ***ALONE*** does not exclude someone from the No Tax on Overtime law.
The truth if you're a worker under a collective bargaining agreement, your overtime pay is typically a combination of Fair Labor Standards Act overtime and collective bargaining agreement overtime. Under the No Tax on Overtime law, only the Fair Labor Standards Act overtime qualifies for the No Tax on Overtime deduction.
For more information on this, see IRS Notice 2025-69, pages 10-11. [https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-drop/n-25-69.pdf#page=10](https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-drop/n-25-69.pdf#page=10)
A worker under a collective bargaining agreement who does not qualify for the No Tax on Overtime law does not qualify because that worker is not subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act (like a motor carrier), not because that worker is under a collective bargaining agreement.
Edit: here's a link to the actual No Tax on Overtime law, 26 USC Section 225, read it and you'll see that there is no collective bargaining exclusion: [https://uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?req=granuleid:USC-prelim-title26-section225&num=0&edition=prelim](https://uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?req=granuleid:USC-prelim-title26-section225&num=0&edition=prelim)

Just to f*** with them, let’s try and be welcoming and happy that they are supporting something good. Like, just to really make them look like idiots, let’s try to seem like a political party that is happy to forgive the Trump stuff (lol, like we would ever) and encourage them to join our side to make things better. It will be so funny, they’ll have no clue that we will hate them for eternity, but we are just using them to get the votes we want to stop Trump and the Republicans.

Sounds like a deliberate disincentive to form a union.

Here today, gone tomorrow. The only motivation that will push politicians to do the right thing is money or votes.

It's unfortunate that you're a top 1% commenter with that shallow thinking. You really think that if you just keep playing along and putting the right people in office and paying them more it will create change?
I'm not here to say what the changes are, but I am here to say that there needs to be lots of changes to the status quo in order for us to have a different outcome. It's the only way.
