Gun clash sounds like they're some Equilibrium-style gun-fu melee

*"At least* ***two attackers were killed*** *and* ***one was seriously injured*** *in an extended gun ‌battle between police and assailants directly outside the building housing the Israeli consulate in Istanbul on Tuesday, according to media reports and Reuters video.* Thank goodness no embassy staff or Turkish police were injured.

I assume they laid down and weren't under the van telling lies

arwear 3 days ago +5
Past tense of "lie" is not "laid" either. It should be "lay".

What it doesn’t add is that while the police officers were laying on the ground, some street cats took that opportunity to lay on them and purr/s

Does this have anything to do with Israel? Sound like it's a shoot out just happen to be outside the empty consulate.

Zealousideal-Cut4232 3 days ago +4
Empty or not that is the official address. Previous protests were also directed at that location. It is a targeted attack. So yes it definitely has something to do with Israel. You don’t have people in tactical gear and assault rifles having random shootouts in Turkey. Or most parts of the world in general.

Magicalsandwichpress 3 days ago +1
If their target is indeed the consulate, I'm having a hard time believing people are willing to die to storm an empty building. Either these guys have a few screws lose or the building is not empty.

It’s about sending a message. Like a suicide bomber without the bombs. Terrorists tend to be unstable and easily manipulated.

thats how these things work, just see how many news media picked this"nothingburger" story up and yet none are posting about Israel murdering over a 1000 lebanese people since march..

The Israeli government is making it unsafe for Jews around the world
-85
Sea-Witness-2746 3 days ago +16
Sure, it's Israel not the antisemites attacking Jews who are making Jews unsafe.
16
we-totally-agree 3 days ago +87
Terrorists that like to shoot people because of the actions of the government are making it unsafe for Jews around the world. Don't get it twisted.

KITAPYIYEN 3 days ago -52
You are right but there are terrorists who are much more powerful than 1-2 stupid gunmen, like the IDF or Trump for example

Careful you might get a papercut from all that edge, kid

KITAPYIYEN 3 days ago -19
You are doing Ad hominem by the way, it would be nicer if we talked more seriously. My intention is not justifying terrorism but telling what is what
-19
we-totally-agree 3 days ago +13
You aren't capable of talking seriously about this topic, and you've proven by your previous message
13
KITAPYIYEN 3 days ago -12
Why not
-12
we-totally-agree 3 days ago +11
Because you aren't capable of having a nuanced discussion about war vs terrorism

Would we ever—*ever*—have the gall to say that Saudi Arabia, or Qatar, or Palestine is "making it unsafe for Muslims around the world" because their governments commit endless atrocities, and therefore, they're responsible for individuals trying to murder Muslims simply because of a shared religion? The current Israeli government is evil, full stop. But this is a double standard that seems only to apply to one religion and one religion only, and I for one find it vile.

> Would we ever -ever- have the gall to say that that Saudi Arabia, or Qatar, or Palestine is "making it unsafe for Muslims around the world" Yes. People do that all the f****** time lol.

I think the point is we shouldn’t do either

It's true though. I'll say it. Muslims around the world are less safe because of the actions of terrorist groups like ISIS. It only feels wrong because the true victims are the people living there, not the people who experience the residual effects from far away. We understand this when it pertains to Muslims. As for Israel, it's Israelis who are the most unsafe among Jewish people. For everything that happens to diaspora Jews because of Israel's actions, I would still rather be one of them than an Israeli Jew. Again, all true. But saying it feels like justifying violence against civilians, which I'm not trying to do.

I mean Islamophobia is indeed a thing that's been making it difficult for anyone even vaguely Arab looking for like... I wanna say 50 years, but 200% within the last 25. The difference is the governments of those Islamic countries don't go on every mainstream media channel or funnel millions into lobbying to conflate any anti-country views with Islamophobia, whereas Israel aggressively will target anti-zionists and call the anti-Semitic while ignoring REAL anti-Semitic shit (see the ADL defending elon while attacking people like Rashida Tlaib)
-11
fotank 3 days ago -11
I bet there are Muslims who have been singled out and targeted because of the what the countries you listed have done. It’s not a double standard. It’s the same standard. If the government does bad things, you endanger those who identify with that country or government.
-11
DrPixelFace 3 days ago -21
If Saudi Arabia started attacking a nearby Christian country then yes
-21
Competitive-Way-466 3 days ago +17
That’s kinda like all Muslim citizens being fair targets due to the actions of the Taliban, or one of the many Islamic regimes or terrorist ground senate world. It’s Islamophobia if I say that, yet somehow not antisemitism if you say what you just did… make it make sense.
17
Alt_Restorer 3 days ago -7
It depends what you mean by fair target. Actually fair, or fair by broken standards?

No_Mercy_4_Potatoes 3 days ago -13
And the Jewish community should be the loudest in protesting against the Israeli government. Anyone else doing that is slapped with the anti-Semitic label.
-13
Sauciest_Sausage 3 days ago -5
The Israeli government has no issue with labeling Jews anti-semitic. It is all by design. The government will be able to use this to create more division and more division will in turn cause more chaos and war. This ultimately lets them fight the religiously fueled ME war they always wanted. They don't even have to send their own soldiers. Everything is paid for by the treacherous admin.

Because they often are.

True but to be fair the Israeli Consulate is like the closest thing to the Israeli Government you can find outside of Israel. Doesn’t mean that Consulate workers should be attacked tho.

For what’s it worth, I’m Jewish and I agree with you. They’ve constantly positioned themselves as the defacto spokespersons of all Jews and then they pull all kinds of atrocious shit. The amount of antisemitism I’ve seen in recent years that is directly linked to the actions of the Israeli government is impossible to ignore. People are making bogus comparisons with Saudi Arabia and the like but it’s just not the same.

I mean it is a zionist/Israeli building, even if it was attacked by run of the mill antisemitism. So I don't see this as a gotcha to any side or political position.

Kinda wild that your first thought was to come to the *defence* of a genocidal ethnostate, instead of taking a moment to ponder why someone might feel obligated to attack them.

Ah yes, such a succinct and well-argued position :/ The fact that you prefer to be an immature & intentionally-ignorant prick does not change the facts. According to the UN & numerous non-partisan international bodies (that literally *specialise* in the study of genocide!), the actions of Israel in Gaza meet the threshold of genocide. That is a fact. Their imperialist invasion & annexation of Lebanon, and ongoing war crimes in Iran, don’t help their public image either. This, too, is a fact. How’s that phrase go again? “Facts don’t care about your feelings”?

It’s honesty kinda funny (sad, but funny) that you think that’s even an argument, when in reality it’s nothing but a childish response to being proven wrong and having no rebuttal. I have no idea how to explain to you that you should care about other people. Maybe if it was your family under the rubble, you’d be a bit less crass about all this.

And yet again, you’ve done nothing to prove me wrong, nor to prove yourself right. Your only augments are personal attacks, which is kinda sad tbh. Also, attempting to decry using *accurate terms* as “buzzwords” just further proves you have no clue what you’re talking about. Once you’re able to actually argue your position, instead of lashing out with personal (and inaccurate) insults, then *maybe* we could hash things out like adults. Stay in school, kiddo.

1) You don’t need to be *good* at it for it to count as genocide. Hence why so many non-partisan international bodies have declared it such. They don’t take those kinds of claims lightly. 2) The stated goal of Gazans is literally to survive. That’s it. They wouldn’t have a problem with Israel or it hadn’t been oppressing them since its creation post-WWII. Look up “Nakba”. Then you’ll understand what I’m talking about. This isn’t a recent conflict, it’s an almost half-century of prejudice and violence.

Israel has been talking up an attack on Turkey since before they initiated our illegal war in Iran. Netanyahu insists that Turkey is a threat to NATO, even though Israel is NOT a NATO member state. Erdogan condemns Israel’s Mosque attacks, and says Netanyahu is Hitler. https://www.paturkey.com/news/2026/erdogan-likens-netanyahu-to-hitler-accuses-israel-of-fueling-regional-instability-29718/ Israel is empire building and taking over the middle east. They DGAF about our NATO alliances, except to destroy them. Putin and Netanyahu are calling all of America’s shots, because they interfered in our elections since Obama, to secure Manchurian Candidate Trump and America’s downfall. 🚩U.S. is the largest military power in NATO. Turkey is number 2. Israel will likely start attacking Turkey, and Trump will blow up our entire defense treaty with our allies, to let them. *”Israel’s hostile attitude against Türkiye has particularly increased in the last two years, sending belligerent messages towards Ankara with a military tone,” says Gokhan Batu, an Ankara-based political analyst on Israeli and Middle Eastern politics, referring to escalating tensions in the turbulent region since October 7, 2023.* *Türkiye has been one of the most vocal critics of Israel since Tel Aviv launched its genocidal war in Gaza, which has killed hundreds of thousands of people and turned the Palestinian enclave into a pile of rubble.* *Batu says that Israel’s growing antagonism towards Türkiye must be seen in the context of recent geopolitical churnings. ‘This behaviour (of Israel) could be better understood in the context of Türkiye's rising capacity in the Middle East and its emergence as the only actor capable of balancing Israel in the region,’ Batu tells TRT World.”* https://www.trtworld.com/article/d61d05c749d4
