Well when I think of TMZ, I envision that iconic 2006 photo of Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan in a car.

I remember the word fire crotch. I don’t remember who coined the term but I saw it on TMZ in the 2000s and it referred to Lindsay Lohan

"Fire crotch" has been an insult for as long as I can remember. Certainly predating TMZ by many years. I heard it for first time in middle school in the 90s.

Insult is hilarious. I hear fire crotch and it's damn near a mating call! Redheads rule! Make more! Their physiology is fascinating as well in that they have a higher pain tolerance. That makes warriors.

It's not an insult.

If i had red hair and was called fire crotch I would be personally insulted and would probably punch the person called me that.
That and that pic of Rihanna they published without her consent.

I would be all for this if it resulted in actual consequences for politicians.
As it stands, all it will do is further cement the 'politics as trashy entertainment' nature of our current zeitgeist and I can't see that being a good thing.

Look up Tony Gonzalez, Eric swalwell, and Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick. Cory Mills is in the hot seat.
We all get the chance to show politicians actual consequences in November so TMZ has picked the perfect time to provide additional information to voters.
49
RollTh3Maps7 hr ago
+1
The only reason Gonzalez faced consequences is because Swalwell stepped down and the Republicans were ok with losing a vote if the Democrats did too.
1
mollybolly127 hr ago
+1
Yes, and? None of those three people should be in office. And Cory Mills is still absolutely on the clock. We got two predators and someone who abused campaign finance laws out of office in the course of a couple weeks. Celebrate the wins people, they’re few and far between right now. Pick yourselves up and take advantage of every piece of information you can get.

ThunkAsDrinklePeep7 hr ago

> We all get the chance to show politicians actual consequences in November
[Looks at gerrymandered districts, and a lack of ranked choice or party seats.] Do we though?
1
mollybolly127 hr ago
+1
So gerrymandering prevents you from getting a sexual predator out of office? Or what are you saying? Three people resigned, and one more is likely on the clock due to public pressure from reporting on highly unethical/criminal/abusive behavior.
Things are far from perfect, but writing off the impact of your vote and your voice is just giving up.
By the way, Democrats have consistently pushed for nationwide bans on gerrymandering and VA and CA’s maps are temporary. Ranked choice has not been a nationwide reality but it’s possible in the future. There are very real cracks in the foundation of institutional democrats. We can affect change now more than ever.

I vote. And there are wins. But we're playing at a c***** where the house has rigged the games. They overwhelmingly are winning and will continue to do so unless we make systemic changes.

TMZ is owned by Fox Corporation, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch. I am not sure what is the motive here.
Is this a crafty “divide & conquer” and “controlled opposition” tactic to keep MAGA and Rupert in power? Perhaps Rupert finally wants Donny to leave office because he’s pissed-off about something, so now he’s sending his TMZ mercenaries to further pressure MAGA congressmen and administration to do something about Donny by gathering kompromat on everyone? Maybe both, and/or something else?
We’re in psychotic times, no doubt. We even saw a day when ‘Infowars’ was taken over by ‘The Onion’ with Tim Heidecker as their new face. So maybe this is a good thing. However, the fact that TMZ are in Washington DC doing these “scoops” is yet-another example of how the current 4th Estate is failing the People (purposely or otherwise, because most major media outlets are owned by pro-MAGA bajilionaires).
::EDIT TO ADD:: Well *NO DUH* the motive is about the money. My question is how much leverage Rupert Murdoch is looking to gain over Trump and/or the next guy taking over as POTUS, and whether this may be a sign of a squabble between Rupert and some other oligarch jostling for supreme media influence.
Mind you: Jeff Bezos owns the Washington Post and AWS, and he chose to kiss the ring. But Disney chose to bring back Jimmy Kimmel after Trump’s FCC canceled him and saw ‘Streisand Effect’ higher ratings. So there are two main ways to get more money out of this administration: kiss the ring, or hit back with much larger crowd support.

Harvey's contract stipulated he would remain in control of TMZ and have editorial freedom. It's generally believed that Fox will keep that in place when his 5-year-contract is up for negotiations because he's too good at running the enterprise.
The Murdoch's prioritize money, they don't care if they come off as hypocritical or even monstrous\*. The Wall Street Journal has been criticizing Trump for years. One could argue Murdoch uses the Mac strategy of pitting his publications against one another and playing both sides so he always comes out on top.
\*Look into their UK tabloid The Sun. They used to run a feature called The Page 3 Girl, which was a topless photo of a model printed on Page 3. For decades, there was a loophole in British law that allowed girls as young as 16 to pose. They would even feature a little box with photos of the models at 15 in bikinis with a countdown until the number of days she'd be old enough for them to publish the topless photos. It's insane.
ETA: And if you want a good laugh. Head to Alex Jones' social media where he's sharing Tim and Eric sketches to try and prove that Tim Heidecker is a Satanist or something.

TMZ is just another rabid dog on a leash, Someone wants them to go after certain people now. It’s not because they just want to bring accountability to the government. It’s a garbage organization, just because they happened to make someone you dislike look stupid does not mean they are “one of the good guys”

Well, the headline wants to know why TMZ hasn’t been getting success in Washington reporting until now. My point was that it is a pop culture-driven, locally focused gossip organization based on the other side of the country, so maybe that’s why.
