It has been long known for many years, by a large portion of the British population, that Mandleson is and always was a detestable horrible person. He has always been hated by the other MPs, especially by the back-benchers of his own party.
There is no way that Starmer didn't know about him.

He is being made a "fall guy" for a political decision.
In the UK's "Goodman" system, officials provide advice, but ministers (the Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary) make the final decisions. Supporters of Robbins argue that if Mandelson's vetting was "overruled," that order likely came from the top of the government.
Reports suggest Keir Starmer was personally involved in pushing for Lord Mandelson's appointment due to their close political ties. By removing Robbins, Starmer is seen by some as shifting the blame onto the civil service to protect his own political standing.

Spamming this everywhere doesn’t make it true. Robbins resigning if this is the case makes no sense. It’s possible the FO sec is responsible for the DV failure not being passed on, but that’s not your claim. Plus, Robbins can easily appeal to the disciplinary system in the civil service to clear himself…if that was the case.
