Something like 80% of Americans don’t support this war.

UnitSmall2200 Mar 18, 2026 +15
If only. I wish that was the case and would be nice if you backed up your number. Only about 53-56% of Americans oppose this war, based on what John Oliver showed last weekend. [S13 E05: Iran & J.D. Vance: 3/15/26: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JjKn7uhKqY&t=1094s) The results are in line with Trump's general disapproval/approval ratings.

If thats the case why arnt decent US citizens overthrowing *their* regime, they wernt consulted on this war & neither were their representatives .. If there is 80% opposition & yet still the war continues, i think you must be living in a fascist state.

Because random Americans don’t have the knowledge or skillset necessary to start and carry out a civil war? Additionally, most Americans (rightly or wrongly) believe that we can replace our government via democratic means. With midterms this year I think most of us would prefer to try that before plunging our country into violent horror.

Good luck dealing with a Man who doesnt do democracy.

Trump is a buffoon reading a script. The GOP doesn’t do democracy. Invading Cuba, concentration camps, secret police, fake migrant insurgencies (ms13), fake domestic insurgencies (antifa) is all from a 40 year old Republican plan to overthrow the government: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rex_84 Everything gets worse the second a halfway competent Republican is in charge. They tried to hold off on the coup for 10 years to get around including him.

Well who\`s in charge of who? .. Arnt the Gov meant to be servants of the people?
0
MakinBaconWithMacon Mar 18, 2026 +6
Real answer… Because people live paycheck to paycheck and don’t want to lose a roof over their heads and food in their stomach. Basic necessities take precedence in peoples lives.

Equivalent_Range6291 Mar 18, 2026 -5
I agree but i also think the US people are capable of doing more than one thing at a time .. ***When?*** If he hasnt gone more than far enough already then ***When? ..*** When does it become **To Much?** What does it take? When does the US publics patience run out? .. The rest of the World are looking at the US & thinking WTF? Most people would draw a line at Genocide so what happened the US?
-5
KtaadnRota Mar 18, 2026 +5
Americans may be capable of doing more than one thing at a time, but perhaps not if the two things are (1)working long hours to keep food on the table and provide for their families; and (2)enlisting in a (as yet nonexistent) revolutionary army to wage civil war. These particular 2 things seem mutually exclusive. Since you're the idea person here, how would you suggest the average American should proceed? Be specific.
5
Equivalent_Range6291 Mar 18, 2026 -1
The World knows thats a waste of time. If Americans could theyd elect Donald Trump for the third time .. Somethings *really* wrong in America.
-1
MakinBaconWithMacon Mar 18, 2026
That’s the beauty in a governments eyes to having wage slaves. Live paycheck to paycheck. 1. 8hr day + 2 hr commute. 2. Pick up kids from school. 3. Make dinner. Get laundry done. Do homework. Etc. 4. Pack lunches for next day. (8 hrs total for steps 2-4, maybe an hour or two to yourself to relax) 5. Bedtime (8 hrs) & repeat. College students can be even worse off. I had a lot of completely sleepless nights in the library in college.
0
Equivalent_Range6291 Mar 18, 2026 +1
Yea, theres a lot of people having sleepless nights in the Gulf region because the US attacked Iran. I doubt if it was a Drone strike that caused your sleepless nights in the library .. Up democracy! I mean were informed above that 80% of the American people cant stop Trump. Thems the facts ..
1
MakinBaconWithMacon Mar 18, 2026 +3
Tbh, if we had drone strikes in the USA - the war favoritism would flip instantly from 80% opposed to 80% pro war. After 9/11, every car had an American flag out their window.
3
Equivalent_Range6291 Mar 18, 2026 +1
Now you know whats happened in Iran.
1
MakinBaconWithMacon Mar 18, 2026 +2
Never doubted it. I don’t think 80% of Americans doubted it either, except for the Persian American protests across the country asking the USA to do it
2
Equivalent_Range6291 Mar 18, 2026 -5
Yea, take a minute to think about that ... \--------------------------------------------- 80%? &?
-5
EffectiveWallaby8124 Mar 19, 2026 +2
I am pretty sure if 80% of Americans agreed on ANYTHING the Universe would collapse.
2
DistanceToEmpty Mar 18, 2026 -6
And yet Americans can't see the be bothered to oppose it. No creditable and committed anti-war movement has materialized.

Yeah, but Israel wants to be fighting it, and really that's all that matters apparently.
1
wh4tth3huh Mar 22, 2026 +1
Now now now, we all know that Israel wants **The US** to fight it's battles. They don't want to risk their pampered uniformed murderers in an actual war against an actual military. They've got starving civilians to shoot and old ladies to run over with bulldozers or something.

Your still ignoring a continuing genocide & the best you can come up with is to try deflect.

Did you see the line of MAGA patriots outside the recruiting station this morning lining up to die for a pedo and Israel? Yeah? Me neither.

Southern_Bicycle8111 Mar 18, 2026 +6
I did overhear some magas complaining about trump at the gas station “Mr president asked us to sacrifice…. Well… What is HE sacrificing!”
6
JaronJervis Mar 18, 2026 +13
I'd say f*** them. F*** all MAGAs , conservatives and Republicans. they wanted Trump, demanded him, tried to pull an insurrection over him. They did this, and now our economy is going into the shitter more everyday, with no end in sight. Fiscal Conservatives is just a few words, it means nothing.
13
Southern_Bicycle8111 Mar 18, 2026
I’d say you missed the point. Have you actually talked to maga people. There are hateful racist sure, but most are highly manipulated normal people who are bad at critical thinking. We are being manipulated by the rich because they know humans are emotional decision makers.
0
JaronJervis Mar 18, 2026 +5
>but most are highly manipulated normal people who are bad at critical thinking Total bullshit. Being bad at critical thinking has nothing to do with accepting lie after lie for years on end. [During Trump's 1st regime he made over 30,000 false or misleading statements , this just covers a 4 year period](https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/01/24/trumps-false-or-misleading-claims-total-30573-over-four-years/). He was proven in a civil court to be a rapist and liar, another civil court in 2016 with Trump University when he settled and closed the school proving him to be a scammer. To top it off, 6 months before the 2024 election, Trump becomes a convicted felon. After getting into office again, we find out Trump's all over the Epstein files and suddenly didn't want to release them. These are not errors by people who lack critical thinking skills, these are cultists, dedicated to Trump and the MAGA movement. They buy his merchandise as much as they buy his deceptions. Nothing about a MAGA is normal, only hateful.
5
Southern_Bicycle8111 Mar 18, 2026 +3
MAGA is the result of 80+ years of propaganda from the rich. People are just people, it’s hard to fight that level of disinformation and manipulation.

>What is HE sacrificing!” Little girls, as usual.

suggestion - try reading an article before deciding from a headline that it must just reaffirm your own (obviously correct, obviously) personally held beliefs from your safe 8000 mile away vantage point and one where not a single \*actual\* Persian or Iranian individual was consulted in forming. Highly suspect that those with the most confident, strongest and loudest opinions have ever even personally met someone from this country. Ill try to help make some of the issues reported slightly less complex so that even the expert level headline readers may possibly have a better fuller understanding of what this article reports. *Like so many young Iranians, Baran saw her hopes of change devastated in recent months. Thousands of people were killed in a crackdown by regime forces in January after widespread demonstrations demanding change* *The official narrative is the only one allowed. State television broadcast footage of demonstrations and funerals are the only ones allowed for release. Interviews with pro-regime officials that offer repeated denunciations of America and Israel allowed only. Regime propaganda pushing the narrative that all Iranians are ready and willing to suffer martyrdom only* *Independent journalists try to gather testimony of the alternative views, but they run the risk of arrest, torture and possibly execution when they do. The official narrative is the only one allowed* *said on condition of anonymity "It's not that we are supporting America or Israel, but hoping simply that for one moment, something might happen that ends the current Iranian regime, and that the people will be able to create change."* This is NOT a one victim one villian situation. It is extremely fraught and complicated. To have these silly one note uneducated opinions is an insult to all those who have already laid down their lives to try and secure a brighter future for the people they love.

> Baran thinks the war may go on for years, and that its psychological effects will last even longer. "This war will not end soon, because this war is inside our homes, inside the families…The war has entered our blood and has entered our lives." America has made even more enemies that will hate us their entire lives, and they'll pass on this hatred to their children. The damage we're doing is generational, and it not only endangers us now, but it endangers future Americans as well. All because, what, Trump (pedo) wants to distract from the fact that he's a pedo? Any tragedies that stem from this, either abroad and even possibly on our home soil, now and in the future, is on MAGA and non-voters who didn't even do the bare minimum of filling out a ballot to help stop this, across all elections.

The great thing about killing civilians. The ones who survive will never forgive you. Man we suck at propaganda wars

We spent like 7 trillion in 20 years, and not a single terrorist movement went down in size. Two of them even got big enough to have an entire country.

There is something seriously wrong with this war.
4
invalidpassword Mar 18, 2026 +2
Then their leaders shouldn't have bombed us even though we weren't an immediate threat to them. Or was it the polar opposite of that? Seriously though, my heart bleeds for the children who now (and in the past) live under constant fear of death coming from the sky. And why did Trump start a war? It's because our inept president had a "feeling" it was time to destroy Iran before they hit us. Besides, Netanyahu wanted us to bomb them. What Israel wants, it gets. This, what Trump likes to call an "excursion", will tarnish America's presence in the world possibly forever.

Iran's economy was already experiencing a total implosion and they were apparently ready to agree to sign a new nuclear inspection deal. It's fully possible we would have seen a Ukrainian style popular revolution within the next few years. Instead, this war was assessed by the Pentagon to STRENGTHEN the position of the extremist government in Iran, and set back or eliminate any possibility of the Iranian people overthrowing the regime. That is the assessment of the US military intelligence apparatus. This war was about Trump distracting from the Epstein files, about Israel protecting it's 'value' as a check against Iran in the region by doing everything possible to keep Iran hostile and prevent a popular revolution, and about giving Russia and China a massive strategic win by bogging down the US in it's own unforced error and burning through strategic stockpiles. If someone were TRYING to destroy US global power projection, destabilize the US economy, distance the US from it's allies, and strengthen it's geopolitical adversaries, this is *exactly what they would do*.

Then why are their people still celebrating? The Palestinian people and the Iranian people are roughly suffering the same, but the difference is the Palestinians have been lied to about who the real cause is, and Iranians haven't been.

Maus666 Mar 18, 2026 -9
WILD take. Gaza was already an open air prison - Iran is a developed country. These are apples to oranges and comparing "suffering" between completely different populations experiencing completely different things is not helpful whatsoever. Show us Iranians celebrating American imperialism.
