I’m seeing these protests in rural west central Texas today. They’re not huge but they are for sure visible. I have seen them in 3-4 towns between Eastland and Brownwood which is not exactly a highly populated or progressive area so to see any at all is a big step.

I seem to recall a historical legend about someone saying let them eat cake. And I understand that there's a little bit of creative license with that story but the general idea that the dismissing of the poors is a bad idea.

Remember, normal people respond to these protests with "This is great, **and you should also do XYZ.**" Normal people don't say these protests do nothing unless they have a harmful agenda to push.

the thing is, this is probably the truth. And that's why a lot of people feel like protesting doesn't accomplish anything. In reality, it seems most of what it does is demonstrate to others, both domestically and abroad, that the citizenry does not agree with the regime. This has value for sure, but it doesn't directly cause change. If you want to directly cause change, you need to do things besides protesting. If all you are willing to do is protest, you need to do it beyond these state-approved single-day events and be willing to have that experience be uncomfortable and inconvenient for you. If ALL you can do is protest, it would take weeks of constant, unbroken mass protest to move the needle.

Then why are you even acknowledging that there are protest?

If they dont care about people peacefully protesting maybe its time to nix the peaceful part.
