Are they seriously suggesting that they can declare it over one day, then just continue it the next day and that "resets" the 60 day limit? That's so brazenly f****** stupid I'm almost impressed. Of course, the GOP congress will let them continue the war without a peep so I'm not sure why they're even bothering with such idiotic theatrics.

You cannot simultaneously say the war is over and the Strait is still closed without conceding that the closure is something the United States has accepted rather than something it is working to resolve through the application of military force. By that argument any time you are not actively shooting or dropping bombs is a "pause in hostilities" that can stop the clock. That's not how real life works.

Not really sure it matters: our congress is about as useless as a c*** that doesn't extend past the balls. They could absolutely hold Trump accountable for the war, or demand it be disengaged, or any number of other things to check his power. But they won't. And as long as that's true, it really doesn't matter what excuse he provides for not following the law.

None of this smoke and mirrors bullshit matters, because the Republicans are never going to hold this administration to account. So, with no checks and balances on the Administration, this deadline is moot. The best the Democrats can do is to keep yelling about this, but no one's mind is changing.
