> JD Vance has said the US version of TikTok is valued at about $14bn, meaning the fee taken by the government is closer to 70% of the deal. The f***? > Trump himself launched his own cryptocurrency coin while in the Oval Office, with investors in the venture recently offered “guaranteed direct access” to the president in return for $5m. The f***? > the Atlantic reported that Trump’s private telephone number is being sold to chief executive officers beside crypto investors – and journalists are trading the number for that of other world leaders. The f***?

Anybody who believes this is the dumbest m*********** on the planet. Not only do they not see billionaires continue to hoard wealth despite having more money than they could use in 100 lifetimes, they believe billionaires when they say anything at all.

You guys he's obviously going to give it away just like his presidential salary. Probably will give it away to his charity, wait he can't run a charity why not?!

This is, unequivocally, in no way the same union my state joined when we ratified this shit. I'm sick of paying for all of this. Why the f*** should we pay for states that actively wants to round up left wingers, transgender people, and anyone who looks different in camps?
110
Evoluxman Mar 15, 2026 +10
Thing is, isolation wont save you. On top of condemning tens of millions living in these states now without any hope of having at least the chance of a federal government leaning left of the far right to protect them. Leave the Nazis their own country and you will have a Nazi country neighbour.

ilovefacebook Mar 15, 2026 +218
he didn't HAVE to sell it. he just did, because he didn't want to appear to have any conflict of interest. you know, morals? (although he did put it in a blind trust). this mf gives 0 shits because no one is stopping him.
218
fall3nang3l Mar 15, 2026 +252
CHOSE to sell it. He didn't have to. He wanted to avoid any potential conflict of interest from it while he was president. US politics rode on the fickle beast of virtue for too long instead of inscribing it indelibly into law.
252
toolatealreadyfapped Mar 15, 2026 +88
I guarantee you, Trump thinks he invented corruption. He's patting himself on the back, convinced he's the only human smart enough to use the office to earn billions. All the other presidents before him absolutely would have, if they were only as clever as him. It's the same shit for everything. Remember Sharpiegate? Trump will go to his grave convinced that he fooled everyone, because no one was ever smart enough to lie about something before he created the concept.
88
BlightedPath Mar 15, 2026 +25
He's the only one smart enough to figure out no one would be brave enough to make the president face consequences, I'll give him that.
25
dolfan1 Mar 15, 2026 +19
I don't think "smart enough" is the right idea, for him. He fell back-asswards into a situation fueled by Republican hate, coupled with a need to gain votes by uneducated people and catering to their ideology (Christianity, racism, bigotry, etc). There are more uninformed and uneducated, but passionate, Americans than there are educated and passionate. Unfortunately. We are probably in a brain drain and nobody has said a word about it.
19
BlightedPath Mar 15, 2026 +3
That's fair, lucky enough works better

i-just-thought-i Mar 15, 2026 +3
More and more people who I personally know are considering positions in places they never would've seen as an option before. China is hiring enormous quantities of math professors (other fields too, just can't speak to those). This itself isn't unusual, they've been doing that for decades. It's just that larger swathes of people are looking at it as a real option despite the problems/cultural and language barriers/many real issues (what's in the contracts is often 'adjusted'... depending on the institution, varying levels of corruption... etc). But it's no longer a "clear no" for many. Most westerners still prefer a professorship in their home country or somewhere they're fluent in the lingua franca. But for a lot of people they're having to think about going places they wouldn't have considered. My perspective might be biased because I already live among people who have left their home countries and are unsure about their next steps ('expats', even though I cringe at the term, there really isn't a better one to describe the exact dynamic), so it's people who were willing to leave to begin with.

21

No he put the farm into a blind trust when he entered office but mismanagement and drought caused significant losses so he sold it in 1981 shortly after leaving the presidency, to pay off over $1 million in debt.

Because they rigged the election.
39
Shinjischneider Mar 15, 2026 +36
Not sure about the rigging part. They just had a great 3 prong attack plan. Get right-wing voters by being as racist, fascist, sexist as possible. Get "undecided" voters by paying the media to keep posting articles about how old Biden is and how Harris is a woman. Keep left-wing voters from voting the "lesser evil" by instrumentalising influencers who convince dumbasses that "not voting" or "voting third party" was morally and ethically better and also the smarter decision for the people in Gaza than voting for the candidate who's not a literal Nazi with literal Nazis backing him.
36
AdFlaky9983 Mar 15, 2026 +8
I’ve never been able to get behind the “he stole the election” stuff. I personally know PLENTY of people that love that dumbass and voted for him. There’s enough idiots in this country for him to get elected.

I think if you compare it to corrupt governments around the world on a absolute dollar basis it's probably the 2nd most corrupt ahead of Russia. On a per-capita basis it'd probably be Nigeria or something like that. So Trump's government still has ways to go before they catch up.

DoneBeingSilent Mar 15, 2026 +49
*"Trump isn't racist, he just sincerely believes that races are genetically hierarchical, with races being genetically inferior/superior to each other."* A reminder that Trump has previously and *repeatedly* said that he *literally* views some people (immigrants to be specific) as "animals" and "vermin". "No, they're not humans, they're animals." is an actual public quote of the current President of the United States, Donald J Trump. For context, he was talking about how "Democrats" had previously asked him not to refer to human beings as animals. That's right, he had *already* called immigrants "animals", said he was called out for his dehumanization of immigrants, *and doubled down* on his belief that certain humans are "not humans, they're animals."

Saying they “brokered” the dEaL is a bit deceptive, too. They basically **forced** the sale and influenced it towards their preferred investors. I can’t imagine anyone intentionally staying on there and enriching that crowd.

Whether it is legal for a U.S. President to make money off TikTok is a subject of significant legal, ethical, and political controversy, with experts questioning the legality of financial arrangements surrounding recent, complex ownership deals . While politicians are generally prohibited by TikTok from using creator monetization features, the government, through, for example, a "golden share" in the new entity, may receive financial gains

> Trumps pocket you mean. Can’t take it with him. I genuinely think he believes he can put all of this money into some offshore account and take it with him overseas when his term is over. He literally does not know how the role of President works. For the rest of his life, he can't drive, he can't relocate overseas, and there will be Secret Service following him every hour of every day for the rest of his life, just like every previous, still living U.S. President.

The president is no longer a democratically elected position. It is the CEO of the country. The capitalistic takeover of this country has finally been completed in body and soul.

What does that mean? Like where does that money actually go (or where are they saying it’s going)? Directly in Trumps pocket? To some weird government fund? Somewhere else?

Republicans are absolutely outraged by the brazen corruption. Many are saying, “Enough is enough. This is the final straw. It’s self-enrichment, and it has to stop!” /s Just kidding. No Republican has ever said that or ever will. There is an o*** of corruption happening in DC. Everybody knows it. Republicans just cheer. It’s mass treason.

“Trump administration.” You mean $10bn straight into Trump’s pockets? American people won’t see a single nickel of that money help them in any way.

Lincoln said it best; “Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a mans character, give him power.” “Character is like a tree. Reputation is its shadow. The tree is reality. The shadow is what we think about it.”

“Trump administration to be paid $10bn” — Where does this money actually end up? One of Trump’s offshore accounts? Divided up among current cabinet members? Are any law-abiding Treasury officials left who might track this?
