Yeah; people (on the maga side) don’t seem to understand how bad and long term this thing is.
There’s no TACO taking it back Like normal, gas prices are fubar for the long term. Even if the war were to end today, Iran would almost assuredly keep the straits closed out of spite to the US. Not to mention how much oil infrastructure has been damaged that will take years to rebuild.
This is a long term problem, that will take long term solutions to even begin to sort out.

I don’t think Americans are fully aware of the damage this is doing worldwide, including to their credibility.
Pretty much every country is suffering a fuel crisis because of this. It’s not just prices at the pump - it’s the economic impact of reduced farming, production, and transport capacity. And it’s likely going to mean reduced tax take to fund projects because fuel tax cuts are the easiest way to ensure affordability.
And let me be clear: everybody is blaming America for this. The entire world knows that this is a pointless and unjustifiable war waged by a lunatic.
523
Limo_Wreck77Mar 29, 2026

Aussie here.
Yes, we are blaming Trump/America for this.
Fuel has skyrocketed over here and is running out because everybody is panicking and buying up all the fuel in jerry cans. Service stations are running dry and our country areas literally have no diesel. No diesel, no farming equipment being used.
The state I live in has had to make public transport free for the next month to get cars off the road, so that will add to our states debt, and the flow on effect will be that grocery prices, which are already high, are going to go up as well.
The majority of Aussies oppose this pointless war and are dead against sending our troops to assit.
I'll never, ever forgive the 73 million morons who voted this idiot back into office.
The entire world is suffering because of this dementia ridden psychopath. The US will never, ever be trusted again.

It's kind of complicated to prevent a VP and cabinet led coup, but that's the only mechanism relevant for the POTUS to be removed by the 25th.
The majority of Republicans *could* get their shit together and impeach Trump, but that will never happen.

The system that allowed it to happen is the issue. The cultural building blocks that lead to a literal megalomaniac child rapist being elected president - that's what needs to change. You can't control the external factors.
Here are four things I think need to be understood better:
1. The power of free speech comes with a responsibility to treat lies and other abuses of free speech with swift and total condemnation.
2. Education is more important than anything else. An informed population is mandatory if you want to ensure free speech and democracy are not used against you. Freedom is the way, but it comes with risks. Education is what eliminates those risks.
3. Something cannot be considered "wrong" unless you can show - with evidence we can all agree on - that it causes more harm than good.
4. People are the goal, not the means to an end.

Truth of the matter is that there isn't much we can do that doesn't cross into the illegal territory. The people are out there and protesting. Lawsuits are going on. Voting seems to be turning in the dems favor but not nearly enough. There are areas of hope in the grand sea of news where citizens are really doing their hardest to turn the ship around. But until November 3rd turns around, the vast majority of us are going to have to be sitting on our hands.
Til then? News will be slow. We can flip what we can. Yes, I know, you can point to sixty different things that are going on and plot out a path where voting doesn't help, but this is the most realistic path forward that we have today.
All I can say is that the maga side of the family has gotten real fuckin quiet lately. I don't think they're regretting their vote. But at least it's quiet so that's something, maybe.

Predicts? If? This country is currently a total f****** disaster. And this war will, in fact, escalate bc we have a dementia riddled lunatic playing president while simultaneously pursuing a career in ugly interior design no one asked for.

I feel for every soldier that has been dragged into this and my soul aches for their families and my heart breaks for the people In Iran who have been harmed or killed or about to be killed. There is no reason to be there besides doing the bidding of another country and to grift as much as they can. It's ridiculous - what the hell does drump have on everyone in the Republican party - that none of them have a spine to stand up to him or are they truly in full agreement because they think a holy war will bring about the end of times and it will force Jesus to come? Every day is more and more insane!

Thats the thing; you could've asked that question in trump1, but by now.. the GOP \_is the party of Trump\_; they are \_all that evil and corrupt\_ now
They basically need to eject like half the GOP and get elected in a pile of new people, who actually have brains and spines, to stop the GOP from just being the Nazi party by another name.

I think they actually hate trump but they are scared of him and the repercussions of his crazy ass followers. Some of them go along because of one thing they agree strongly with like anti immigration, anti woke anti lgbtq, etc. some of them use him to advance their own ideologies à la Stephen miller. and another group is the religious folks encompassing everyone who thinks he advances their views despite being the antithesis of them, aka weirdos like Mike Johnson, to the second coming lunatics who think he’s gonna bring about the rapture by starting the next crusade. Oh and I almost forgot some are just straight up grifters trying to make buck and dgaf about any ideology, like there was some 20 year old doge kid that used chat GPT to figure out who to fire. Just opportunists who wouldn’t get that type of opportunity in a normal world bc they’re not smart enough

It's always a disaster when the US fucks around in the Middle-East, which it seems to do on a 20--25 year cycle. Then when it inevitably goes to shit, they leave Europe to deal with the millions of people who have had their lives shattered and are now refugees.
And then of course there are US officials who have the gall to criticise how Europe handles the refugee situation.
I'm so f****** tired of this shit now. Decades of needless wars.

He. Does. Not. Care.
He's hoping to suspend the midterms and future elections so he can stay in power. The longer he stays in office, the less likely he is to go jail for the Epstein files. He's hoping he dies in office, instead of breaking rocks in Club Fed.

The Vietnam war lasted 20 years and claimed the lives of over 58,000 Americans (and millions of Vietnamese).
Iran today has around 10x the landmass and around 6x the population that North Vietnam had when that war kicked off. If we see American soldiers fighting on the ground the cost will be terrible

>Erik Prince, a Republican mega donor, former U.S. Navy SEAL officer, and founder of the private security firm Blackwater, said he counseled the administration “as loud as possible” not to get involved in the first place, knowing it would be deadly for troops, financially costly for the military, and politically challenging ahead of the midterms.
The Blackwater guy pulled out the reverse psychology card here. Whats next Halliburton tell them "DO NOT award no bid contracts, that would be unethical".

Ive come to believe that the US military is only "strong" in the sense that it can maintain a global presence and has high level technology. Fighting an actual war on the other hand? I dont think the US has truly won a war since WW2.

“… predicts there will not be a peaceful end to the Iran war”
Come again? Please define “peaceful end” to any war, let alone a war of aggression killing thousands of civilians launched treacherously during negotiations? A peaceful end? Man I knew TheDailyBeast was garbage, but this takes the cake…

One of Donald Trump’s "key allies predicts" there will not be a peaceful end to the Iran war and has warned that Americans could soon see images of U.S. ships being decimated if the administration puts boots on the ground.
The Daily Beast quotes only Erik Prince here and apparently sarcastically. I also believe that the outcome of the war will not be positive for America. But the majority of Americans who voted believed that Trump was a suitable candidate for the office of president.

“If?”
It’s too late, trump wasnt held accountable over the 2020 election, covid19, Puerto Rico relief, with holding weapons to Ukraine. Instead he just kept lying, the Iranians want “compensation.”
Look the thing everyone is missing this past fall when trump was killing fishermen in Caribbean, countries like UK admit “we aren’t giving the USA intelligence.” That was it, not 3 weeks ago last year! Because they want to pretend, “there’s so much news you will become numb, and they can get away with anything.” Not really already hes being removed from world groups from his violence.
And even now the whole Cuba, Cuba has the best Medical system in the world. The usa is preventing gasoline which would generate their refrigerators for vital medicine and equipment. They have blood on their hands already! The fact we aren’t acting is why there is no “if.”

We are sitting on a precipice right now.
You know Trump wants a way out, im hoping he will just bluster his way through saying "we settled with Iran" and just pull out.
But thats not working. So Trump is buying some time to figure out how to get out of this f****** boring (his words apparently) disaster but he cant do it.
His ego wont let him just say "i fucked up, lets end this now"
One boot on the ground and its f****** over, the US will then be in yet another unwinable war, an illegal war that he will get him impeached for sure, the markets will crash and we will end up in a recession.
