Sanctions do nothing for tariff revenue though. He sees line go up for his friend in the tariff recovery service industries. There are companies who navigate the tariff recovery process for a chunk of the tariffs recovered. Sometimes, they just even buy the debt for c****. The question for his decisions is not "What's the reasoning" but rather "Who bribed him".

He didn’t have authority to issue blanket tariffs as a means of revenue since that is the job of Congress, however he can enact limited tariffs if it affects national security. So he can impose these.

Because tariffs are capped at 15% if I recall.

Yeah, there's No agreement. Both are posturing like they won, and they're still very far from one another.

But if you say you're using 10 items as a framework for negotiating then immediately violate that framework before negotiations even begin, you're not honoring the framework at all. That's just plain bad faith negitiations.

That's just completely wrong if you talking about the recent case. The Supreme Court ruled that the law Trump used to impose world wide tariffs doesn't allow tariffs by the letter of the law. Not that he had to reach an underlying thing then he can impose tariffs using said law but that under no circumstances can he use that law to impose tariffs. Any other law has a max of 15%- 25%of general tariffs. For other types he has to target particular products covered under a law in the name of national security to do those tariffs. There is no law that I know or that lets the president blanket tariffs countries in the name of national security.

People call him to say "Sir, Mr President, those are the best tariffs, tremendous tariffs, it's like the nobel prize of tariffs"
