Trump criticizes European allies for not helping fix the damage his war against Iran has caused
President Donald Trump entered his war of choice against Iran without consulting global allies. But as he weighs an exit from the conflict, he’s making it clear that he’s expecting the world to help him fix the unintended damage it’s caused.

You can't start something then expect others to clean it up...that's a pretty bold ask given the situation.

Trump, leck Eier. Seriously, f*** this fool. > Europe, in its effort to persuade Trump, could do well by keeping its focus on the economic consequences of the war, pressing diplomacy and a maritime stabilization mission tied to a ceasefire, and building “an off-ramp that flatters Trump’s vanity,” > > that flatters Trump's vanity yeah, do more to suck up to this pedophilic rapist... Trump cares about one thing, and one thing only - himself. Appeasing him wont make anything better. He'll just continue to throw people and whole nations under the bus.

The people of America gave him the reins of the world's largest military. We are all going to have to pay the price for this propaganda induced error of judgement.

Well, seeing as their leaders are totally incompetent and the USA havent really proven their supposed might in decades, I'm still hopeful. The Iran situation is a shitshow, Iraq was a shitshow, Afghanistan was a shitshow. Yes, if they wanted to, they could bomb the whole world into a parking lot, but since thats not their objective, I'm holding out hope for them to fail and fail again until someone smarter than Trump is in power again (anyone, really).

Isn't he taking massive dumps on the UK right now? The European country that helped the US by far the most during all of their previous wars? The one with the "special relationship"? If that's how America's biggest ally in Europe gets treated, then why should anyone else try to play nice with Trump? Makes no sense imho.

It makes perfect sense from his perspective though. He doesn't care whether anyone joins his war. He simply wants to deflect the blame to someone else. So he loudly denounces the USA's (by now nominal) allies for doing nothing even as he constantly insults and berates them. They are counting on the xenophobia and general malice of their supporters. They know that they would blame anyone so as to not take responsibility for their own choices. They are afraid that those supporters would blame them rather than blame themselves, so they are preparing a narrative where it is the dastardly foreigners who "betrayed" the USA in its hour of need. This line of thinking would be particularly acute among Trump's henchmen, because he of course is an exaggerated version of his own supporters, and as such he too is surely looking for someone to pin this all on. If they can't shift the blame outwards, then they are the obvious choice and when it comes to that Trump would stab them in the back without a second thought.

A very nice explanation, thank you. I can absolutely see the logic behind it – because I can also see that the deflection is working with some people.

I'm not sure it will work though. The optics are just too bad even to the committed fascists among his followers, let alone the hangers' on who just voted this way because they thought they would get something out of it. His war is transparently being waged either for no reason at all or at the behest of another country. It is costing his supporters a fortune. They don't care about all the people getting killed, of course, but when they have to pay more money at the grocery store or at the gas pump? That could very easily be the straw that finally breaks the camel's back, not because they have some kind of moral awakening, but because his selfishness and egotistic need to deflect responsibility for his choices will increasingly conflict with theirs. This war is not going to change their mind politically, but it might prompt them to just disengage like they did after the failures of his first term, narrowing his party's political support.

Europe might as well accept that their going to get pulled in and start planning for it. No need to rush in. Take your time and lay the foundation for a strategic victory. Leave Trump hanging out to dry until you're good and ready.

Or they could just pay for the oil in yuan and do none of that.
