Trump Has Detained the Parents of More Than 11,000 U.S. Citizen Kids

The cruelty is the point. This Administration is fueled by hate.

This is where immigration enforcement stops being an abstract policy debate and starts having very real consequences for citizens themselves. Once families are mixed-status, actions aimed at one group inevitably spill over to another.

Children have a right to access their parents.

The GOP, the “family” party. And you’re not family!

Leave it to Conservatives to figure out how to use an already broken foster care system as a way to traffic children.

We just got custody of one such child. An extended family member was deported leaving his son in the system. They didn’t notify anyone. One day the child showed up to school and told them they didn’t know where their father was.

I mean I don’t think it is fair for them to have an exception just because they have kids. If it’s cruel, it’s cruel regardless of family status. If it is okay for people without kids, it is okay for those with kids to experience too. It can’t be both ways. Either discrimination based on family status is bad or it isn’t. If it is, it is for everyone regardless of family status.

Terrorism. That's what it is. Call it what it is.

Which means many of them are in the custody of child protective services. Which means they're in foster care. Since an overwhelming majority of foster parents are white conservative Christians, this means they're continuing a long tradition of familial/cultural erasure, I.E. genocide.
