Market manipulation. Swampy behavior.

Sweatytubesock Mar 23, 2026 +24
Trump was always the grossly bloated poisonous toad sitting in the dead center of the Swamp.

DeMarcusQ Mar 23, 2026 +12
This is exactly what it is. Basically signaling all his constituents to sell. There haven't been any (as of right now) credible sources saying these "talks" are even taking place. Plus, there is nothing to stop Iran from keeping the straights closed if or when the US pulls out. He's just saying things to get a lower floor for all the oil markets.

>The timing of the earlier volume spikes across both equities and crude caught the attention of traders, particularly given the absence of an obvious catalyst at the moment they occurred. >Early-morning futures markets are typically less liquid, which can make short bursts of buying and selling more noticeable than during regular trading hours. Still, the trades raised some eyebrows because whoever purchased a large amount of stock futures and sold or shorted crude futures at that moment made a lot of money just minutes later. https://www.cnbc.com/2026/03/23/volume-in-stock-and-oil-futures-surged-minutes-before-trumps-market-turning-post.html

The stock crash and high gas prices were killing him. This is not unexpected that he had no concept Of the ramifications of his actions.
2
BAF_DaWg82 Mar 23, 2026 +6
Do you want him to actually do this?
6
Hellstorm901 Mar 23, 2026 +1
To be fair this was more a case of his own allies including the Shah's son telling him to calm down the latter because bombing that infrastructure at best means the Us would have to pay to rebuild it when he took over or at worst would kiss any prospects of a revolution goodbye

Why Tuesday it if you can TACO every hour!
0
AustinRatBuster Mar 24, 2026 +1
stop saying taco unless youre suggesting him following through with these things is good

Throwaway1920214 Mar 23, 2026 -24
So if he strikes he gets criticized as a warmonger and if he doesn’t he’s a chicken? Typical delusional liberal logic right here
-24
Mataelio Mar 23, 2026 +15
He was the one that said he was going to do it, don’t b**** and wine because he’s being called out for once again backing out of something he insisted he was going to do. It’s just further proof that no one has any reason to ever negotiate or bargain with Trump, because he will just flip flop from one day to the next. You can have an agreement but then he’ll randomly decide to pull out of it. He might make a threat if you don’t do something, but then decide not to go through with it despite his demands not being met. So let me ask you, why the hell should anyone believe anything this man says?

Did you read it? >However, Iran's parliament speaker denies discussions have taken place, saying "fake news" is being used to "manipulate" the oil markets
8
Throwaway1920214 Mar 23, 2026 -12
Yes but im assuming Trump didnt just pull that out of his ass. Its obvious Iran has to deny the talks to save themselves from embarrassment for trying to negotiate.
-12
Mataelio Mar 23, 2026 +9
Trump pulls the vast majority of everything he says out of his ass. If you ask him the same question on two different days he’ll give three different answers. I’ll ask again: why should we believe anything he says, especially if Iran is directly refuting it? I would like specifics of what Iran agreed to.
9
Throwaway1920214 Mar 23, 2026
Okay so we are supposed to believe a terroristic regime over an American president. You think they have more credibility. This is absurd
0
Mataelio Mar 23, 2026 +8
Yes, at this point Trump does in fact have less credibility than Iran. Even absent Iran saying anything about it, why should we believe what Trump has said? What evidence can you point to that Iran has agreed to do anything, what did they agree to, and how do we know if they have violated that agreement?
8
Throwaway1920214 Mar 23, 2026 +1
There are news outlets reporting U.S is negotiating with Iran and certain conditions the U.S has rejected. That is very consistent with what Trump said and discredits Iran. Not sure how much more evidence you want
1
Remarkable_Spite_209 Mar 23, 2026 +3
Yes, I believe literally anyone over Donald Trump. The man is a notorious criminal and pedophile
3
Throwaway1920214 Mar 23, 2026 +1
Let me break your brain. Do you believe netanyahu over trump?
1
imoftendisgruntled Mar 23, 2026 +4
Spoiler alert: Trump does nothing except pull stuff out of his ass. There is no plan. There’s just what will get him through the day. And the rest of his entourage just manipulates the outcome to their advantage. His administration is the swamp.
4
CamRoth Mar 23, 2026 +5
>but im assuming Trump didnt just pull that out of his ass What a stupid thing to assume. We see him doing that on a daily basis.
5
bedrooms-ds Mar 23, 2026 +3
Off-topic, I'd agree with you in normal times, but guy's flip-flopping so fast that even such a usually fair argument (to me) doesn't slack it. Which is, frankly, amusing if it weren't a war.
3
antaresiv Mar 23, 2026 +1
No one should listen to his temper tantrums.

This is how you bankrupt 6 casinos. The USA is his 7th c*****.
183
Bobby12many Mar 23, 2026 +22
His plans are going well. Unfortunately there is no consideration for our country and it's people within those plans. Just like his casinos, they worked great for him as laundering and financial gaming.
22
Coconutrugby Mar 23, 2026 +15
Remember that trump personally pulled large sums of money out of those casinos then closed them. same thing he is doing to the usa. It wasn’t just nosedive. Trump got his first.

darknekolux Mar 23, 2026 +11
The MF is disrupting the whole world economy for his own enrichment, seriously F the USA for unleashing that plague

Am I UnAmerican for believing the Iranian government over my own president /s
29
sowhat4 Mar 23, 2026 +5
Maybe if you define a 'Smart American' as 'UnAmerican'. I mean, if lies and stupidity are the norm and the 'usual' for our countrymen and ruling class, then, yes, you are. So am I.
5
Available_Border1075 Mar 24, 2026 +1
I definitely believe Iran over the POTUS on this point
1
robexib Mar 23, 2026 +4
On the one hand, it's bat shit to believe Trump would seriously offer one. On the other, I trust the Iranian government about as much as I trust Trump, which is to say, I don't.
4
Pale_Sell1122 Mar 23, 2026 +6
Trump is trying to do market manipulation as usual
6
Defiant_Wasp1928 Mar 23, 2026 +6
Trump backed himself into a corner like he always does, and then chickened out. He lies about talks that didn't happen to make himself look better.  TACO!
6
MichaelHunt009 Mar 23, 2026 +3
Pump & dump the market for one day and a temporary bump in his dismal approval rating.

DuskGideon Mar 23, 2026 +1
tried to google recent news on that, could you link to what you saw please?
1
Fragster2020 Mar 23, 2026 +38
He's flip-flopping as usual cos he doesnt have any idea on how to get out of this mess now. "Iran is flattened out ..all leaders are dead. There's no one to talk to us anymore". "Iran is negotiating with me and I'll determine the terms and we might open the Strait". "We want Europe to step in to protect the Strait" "We don't need the Strait nor Oil from Middle East and we DON'T need Europe" "I've given Iran 48 hours to open up Strait" "Oh...I've extended the deadline to one week now".

tweeglitch Mar 23, 2026 +42
Hovers finger over the Armageddon button. Markets panic, stocks dive, Trump/Epstein cabal, buy buy buy. Sometime later. Markets about to open. "You know, since the talks with Iran are going so well..." Shifts finger away from the button. Markets breathe a sigh of relief. Stocks surge. Trump and his Epstein cronies sell sell sell. Meanwhile, Iran is like, "Who you talkin to?" His only objective, by reverse pump and dump, is to squeeze as much out of the economy as he can while he's still the Pedoscent.
42
sowhat4 Mar 23, 2026 +3
The problem is that people tend to take Trump at his word. Don't pay any attention to that as he cannot, will not, and has not told the truth. Ever. Pay attention to his actions.
3
Spire_Citron Mar 24, 2026 +3
Problem is he will also sometimes just do the stupidest possible thing so you can never be quite sure.
3
Th1rte3n1334 Mar 23, 2026 +17
The only real reasons for this are: Market manipulation and because Iran threatened to start bombing everyone else’s Energy Infrastructure if Trump kept attacking theirs.
17
Momoselfie Mar 23, 2026 +15
Until Friday when markets are closed again?
15
WeakCartographer7826 Mar 23, 2026 +6
Yerp. Create a problem on Friday, sink the price, buy low, open the straight on Monday, sell high.

I have postponed the war crime that were scheduled to be committed today.

Rich_Consequence2633 Mar 23, 2026 +6
We are at a point where it is very likely the Trump administration is just making shit up and not actually talking with anyone.

Iran just came out today saying it was all fake news - just Trump manipulating oil futures.
4
NorcalGGMU Mar 23, 2026 +4
Good, but why even create an ultimatum you can’t stick to? Don’t you think talking to the countries who are mostly our allies and would’ve been affected by the Iranian strikes would’ve been the first step? If we attack Iran’s power plants and they attack your desalinization plants and your power plants what’s the effect for you? Can you defend against 15-20 drone attacks per day? Dementia Donny and Whiskey Pete showcase amateur hour and go straight to last resort

msr42day Mar 23, 2026 +7
Given pre47's glee in/desire to manipulate/dominate the newsmedia cycle and to provide profit taking in the oil and stock markets for those who can afford those gambles, SKEPTICISM is necessary. There is also a report (hard to verify in English) that pres47 also contacted his Arab allies, asking for trillions to stop or more trillions to keep going.

sowhat4 Mar 23, 2026 +1
And just like that, the Trump-Epstein Files are pushed to page 10 of the newspaper and below the fold.

They've probably already been carried out and he just can't remember it...

But he lied about negotiations with iran. This was 100% market manipulation.

Given how fucked up the last few weeks have been , the dementia riddled rants, the ridiculous posturing. I can't help but get the impression that two rooms away the sanest clowns in the clown-cart and some CIA operators pretending to be Iranians and translators who's names we'll never know impersonated the Iranians just so the President could "negotiate" with them , and praise him in a way the Iranians clearly would not. Meanwhile Secretary Rubio or whomever conjured this fiasco will actually be speaking with the Iranians to settle a cease fire and end the situation.
3
Spamgrenade Mar 23, 2026 +3
I bet the Iranians never imagined in their wildest dreams how well a war with the USA would go for them.

SwitchedOnNow Mar 23, 2026 +2
I thought they had 48 hrs to surrender? Someone must have told him that it would be a war crime to bomb civilian infrastructure like he suggested.
2
DurielInducedPSTD Mar 23, 2026 +8
The American public gives no fucks about war crimes. It isn’t even their extraordinarily corrupt dictatorship that, you know, triple tapped a school. Call anything they do a war crime and the yanks come out of the woodwork to be all “uhh it isn’t a crime if there’s no one to enforce it, what are you gonna do, send a strongly worded letter?”. Everything they do is to get richer or to hurt others without being personally affected . They don’t give a f*** about anything else.
8
icepush Mar 24, 2026 +1
Yes. Crime. That thing which he is notably famous for not doing.
1
kolkitten Mar 23, 2026 +2
Iran showed they can retaliate and whipe Israel's power plants out.
2
RichardEpsilonHughes Mar 23, 2026 +2
I'm absolutely not going to complain about us **not** destroying a bunch of power plants that civilians need to preserve food and medicine, pump water, and run air conditioning to survive Iranian summer.

Its Tuesday, TACO Tuesday, where I live
2
Positive-Room7421 Mar 23, 2026 +3
It's unclear whether this is TACO or market manipulation. One thing we know, there are no peace talks going on right now.
3
vulcan7200 Mar 23, 2026 +3
Its almost certainly market manipulation. While I think a small portion of it is Trump just backing down once he realizes his "tough guy act" wasn't working, its clear as day market manipulation. He announced it not long after stocks opened on a Monday morning, just like whenever he does something stupid he waits for 5pm on a Friday.
3
dubbleplusgood Mar 23, 2026 +1
That makes no sense. Trump recently established the board of PEACE and Jared Kushner solved the mideast troubles a few years ago. So everything must be fine because Trump said so and he never lies....

Those are literally listed as [war crimes](https://www.amnesty.org.au/usa-iran-trumps-warning-that-usa-will-attack-irans-power-plants-is-a-threat-to-commit-war-crimes/).
