I view this as trump ATTEMPTING to TACO. So far, Iran is denying they are in talks with the US. This might be simply that Iran is parsing their words carefully, because while they haven't been in talks with the US, there have been communications via other countries. Will there be an actual agreement that actually brings substantive change? Or will it be that we act like there's an agreement but in reality nothing has changed except Iran has a new leader, it's even more energized to find a way to commit terrorist acts against the US, and oil prices are significantly higher for years. Oh and we now buy Iranian oil, so that we actually help fund Iranian terrorist acts committed against us.

All this tells me is that investors are as stupid as voters. The source of instability and risk is still in office.

Good time to short the market. There is a chance that the war halts soon, but Iran confirmed that there were no communications and that Trump chickened out. Smart money says that Trump escalates the war soon when he starts seeing people call him weak for trying to back out.
