Trump is doing structural damage to everything he touches.

MAGA lowers the average IQ in the US by at least one or two standard deviations (15 points)
Oh, I guess we weren’t talking about that kind of intelligence. Whoops.

It's not just Trump. It's the republican party. It's the GOP. They've been working toward this moment for decades.

Presidents have always differed in how they use intelligence. Some devour briefings, while others prefer to read and be left alone. That, by itself, is not new. What is new in the Trump era is something more consequential and dangerous—not mere indifference to intelligence, but a broader contempt for the institutions and professionals whose job is to tell presidents what they do not want to hear.

At the Presidential Daily Intelligence Brief ...
DNI: "And magnificent Sir. The NSA intercepted intelligence that the Hungary Prime Minister, who you know admires your intelligence so much, said that you have the finest taste in Corinthian Leather that he's ever seen."

The article title hooks by giving Trump too much credit. TL;DR Trump is dismantling the intelligence community. The only "shaping" that is taking place it the sort of thing that happens when you pour water over a sandcastle until it's reduced to an amorphous lump. It's been a central policy goal since his first term, brought on by Bannon's obsession with destroying the 'deep state,' aka disempowering counsel, regulators, and whistblowers to allow for unimpeded grift and plunder.

I mean, when the people asked "Is he allowed to do that?" both Congress and the Supreme Court just nodded in agreement.

Do the men and women in the unionized trades want some plumber to come in and tell the sparky what to do, and the sparky then tells the boilmaker, who tells the lather who explains to the tiler what he should be doing.
That’s the shitshow we have now, except none of the people in power are experts in their own field.

That image? A golden toilet bowl overflowing with a large mass of digested KFC and some chicken bones.

Well maybe American intelligence should’ve arrested the spy before he became president if they truly cared about national security?
