Trump is forcing coal plants to stay open. It could cost customers billions
Emergency orders issued by the Trump administration to force a series of retiring coal plants to stay open claim that the grid is at risk of energy shortfalls. State officials say that’s not true.

Clean beautiful coal! We're going to scrub it with Dawn like those little ducks that get covered in oil. Oil right? Like from Iran, you know, they call it the Strait, the Strait of Hormuz many people say its closed but we opened it and we Won, people never talked about Iran until now, now theyre a hot country, not as hot as us and they wont stop bombing with no ships or missiles left someone figure that one out.

The administration is citing data center growth as the reason, but you can't power 2030 tech with 1970s coal plants that break down every other week. One of the Indiana units has been offline since July 2025 despite the "emergency" order. We’re paying for "capacity" that doesn't even exist. We should be fast-tracking nuclear or massive battery storage, not huffing the fumes of a plant that was scheduled for retirement for a reason.

Beautiful clean coal!  One of australias previous prime ministers brought a LACQUERED piece of coal to parliment to prove how clean it is. Corperate shills eveywhere when it comes to coal/oil encumbants.

I remember when Trump tried this last time he only gained 3200 jobs at the cost of billions of dollars in subsidies and losing way more jobs.

Renewables are literally factually cheaper than fossil now and just need investment and infrastructure. But by all means yes invest in the dinosaur industries on the way out, while the rest of the world passes you by, just cause these guys are “triggered” by the words green.

theyre not triggered by it. theyre getting massive campaign contributions from coal/oil and gas.

Yes definitely that too. Sad that we are mortgaging our future, not just the planet but the country for these shits to line their pockets. It’s always been that way but never this blatant and not at a time when it made the least f****** amount of sense too. We finally have the tech and the economies of scale to make the shift to renewables, and now is the crunch time environmentally too, and it makes sense not just from a green but also economic sense finally too!

Funny fact: I was like, "That picture looks familiar." \*beat\* "Oh that is one mile away."

How's your town feel about the plant? Do people have bad health problems in town?

half the USA just experienced summer temperatures in March. but yeah keep the coal flowing. “That unapparent of summer air in early Spring. The quiet comprehending of the ending of it all Hey what can you say, we were over due. It’ll be over soon…..just wait”

Interfering with free market supply/demand? Sounds like Trump might be a commie.
