Australia needs an off-ramp from AUKUS and must carefully seek alternatives as the US degenerates further into a rogue, dysfunctional failed state.

Australia has deployed a Royal Australian Air Force E-7A Wedgetail surveillance plane to the Middle East (likely based in the UAE) together with 85 ADF personnel for an initial four-week period to assist with the defense of Gulf nations against Iranian missile and drone attacks. Iran knows Australia is assisting the US and its allies, with one of the most effective contributions we could make. Yet, somehow, the US doesn’t? Recently Trump described Australia’s response to his pleas for assistance as ‘not great’. Alabanese should bring that plane home. It, and the ADF people supporting it, are being risked so the USA can insult us.

Labor needs to turn this catastrophe into an opportunity. Ween Australia off of foreign fuel, double down on local green energy, and reinvigorate and expand public transportation.

Is it not a crime against humanity- a war of aggression? Who would want to join that?
