Coward Republicans won't bring a bill to the floor because it would force Trump to veto it. What a bunch of weak losers.

NoSwimmers45 Mar 23, 2026 +254
Do you think any are smart enough to realize that if they did bring it to vote and Trump vetoed then it becomes Trump’s shutdown not a Democrat or Republican issue?
254
Proper-District8608 Mar 23, 2026 +113
I think they figured that out but are too scared to be responsible of having put him that position, expecially b4 midterms
113
citizenjones Mar 23, 2026 +53
He'd freak out at them and focus on how it set *him* up to *take the fall*.
53
mandelbratwurst Mar 23, 2026 +69
And he would cave and sign it anyway like he did with the Epstein Transparency Act. This is so frustrating that all of this is preventable if we could just as a country STAND UP TO THIS ONE STUPID MAN BABY

Splat-a-pus Mar 23, 2026 +19
The Republican Party and sadly a good chunk of the Democratic Party and it seems like our government whole has been corrupted by an institution or another outside body. Something has compromised our government and especially our legislative branch.
19
MudLOA Mar 23, 2026 +14
It’s called corporate donations plus stupid voters.
14
GenghisConnieChung Mar 24, 2026 +1
It’s also called The Heritage Foundation and The Federalist Society. And oh yeah, f****** **fascists**.
1
ThinMint70 Mar 24, 2026 +1
What about AIPAC??
1
K10RumbleRumble Mar 24, 2026 +1
Yep. We’ve been the allegory of the cave for… I dunno… at least a good half century or more.
1
NoSwimmers45 Mar 23, 2026 +17
You’d think most would realize they’re losing midterms either way. We’ve seen VERY red seats flip in special elections which typically have much smaller voter turnout.
17
BorntoBomb Mar 23, 2026 +12
I think theyll use ICE to curtail voting in the midterms regardless of the SAVE act passing or not. Easier just to send them in and claim ignorance in court later, the damage will be done
12
rvretiredlife Mar 23, 2026 +2
They are getting voted out either way, either by us or by Trump not backing them
2
fross370 Mar 23, 2026 +5
Its a cult of personality so i dont think it would matter that much
5
Training_Medicine_49 Mar 23, 2026 +4
Alternatively, they could make sure they pass a what are we making bill that enough Democrats would sign onto it to override a veto. When you’re in a losing position, or don’t have the cards to play, you gotta do the next best thing. And if they actually cared about solving this issue. They should just go ahead and work with the Democrats, get an overwhelming majority, past the bill, make it veto proof and we move on.
4
dcoats69 Mar 23, 2026 +4
It doesn't matter because trump will go on fake news social and blast them for it and hurt them more at mid terms because the cult only listens to him and will blame them over him every time
4
FIContractor Mar 23, 2026 +4
Also that if they just brought something to vote that democrats would support (which they have 7 examples of from recent democrat bills) they could override the veto.
4
jwr1111 Mar 23, 2026 +25
Trump and the GOP are clearly to blame now for the TSA workers not getting paid.
25
RealGianath Mar 23, 2026 +7
They'll make up for it by offering a tiny bonus to the TSA agents that didn't call out sick during the shutdown. That was a big hit last time.
7
Broken-Digital-Clock Mar 23, 2026 +7
Or they will do f*** all and blame it on Dems.
7
NeverLookBothWays Mar 23, 2026 +3
What if they are not interested in a solution here and instead plan to profit off collapse?
3
rodimusprime119 Mar 23, 2026 +1
Yep. They could bring it to the floor vote then override Dumps veto. Make Dump veto the bill
1
Tokie-Dokie Mar 23, 2026 +238
Other people suffering is a sacrifice Trump is willing to make.
238
AnamCeili Mar 23, 2026 +72
I don't believe in hell, but I swear that donald trump makes me hope there is one, so that he will end up there.
72
_Panacea_ Mar 23, 2026 +23
We _do_ still have Guantanamo.
23
FantasticJacket7 Mar 23, 2026 +20
I think it's way more likely that hell exists than it is that Trump receives any meaningful consequences. And I'm an atheist.
20
Catodactyl Mar 23, 2026 +3
All in favor of forcing the orange piss baby to eat c*** meat sandwiches every day in Guantanamo, say aye!
3
BadahBingBadahBoom Mar 23, 2026 +3
Don't even need that headache. Hague Invasion Act says US would invade if he's brought to the ICC. Doesn't say shit if Iran's got him.
3
LaMelgoatBall Mar 23, 2026 +4
Send him there and make him eat c*** meat sandwiches
4
Independent-Bug-9352 Mar 24, 2026 +1
My fantasy is his ass being dragged to The Hague where Jack Smith (who once worked there before) is waiting to finish the trials Aileen Cannon and the crooked SCOTUS helped obstruct.

Republicans’ entire job as a political party is to ensure maximum suffering for anyone and anything within our borders, so misery accomplished.
1
TheKingOfSiam Mar 24, 2026 +1
If people get to vote he's one step closer to being convicted as a pedophile.
1
Miserable_Pie_8337 Mar 23, 2026 +225
...proving that Trump is 100% to blame for the long lines & chaos at our nation's airports.
225
lowsparkedheels Mar 23, 2026 +87
And the ATC shortage. There was a fatality last night at LaGuardia, largely due to overworked ATC.
87
SodaCanBob Mar 23, 2026 +48
That's also still Reagan's fault too. Hasn't there been a shortage of them ever since he fired all of them in the early 80s?
48
Reshar Mar 23, 2026 +24
And for the fact that they don't hire any controllers older than 30 years old. If you're over 31 then you're shit out of luck. For perspective, you can't even run for President before you're 35.
24
TheSavouryRain Mar 23, 2026 +1
That's not as insidious as you think. They have mandatory retirement age of 56, so in order for retirement benefits they have a maximum age they can be to start.
1
Miserable_Pie_8337 Mar 23, 2026 +2
Thanks, Trump.
2
nownowthethetalktalk Mar 23, 2026 +3
There was a plane and fire truck destroyed, two pilots killed and many injured. Not just a fatality.
3
apoca1ypse12 Mar 24, 2026 +1
Hes to blame for all of the bad shit thats been happening
1
Miserable_Pie_8337 Mar 24, 2026 +1
Pretty much. I warned everyone of all the terrible things he'd do & they said I was being an alarmist... turns out it's even worse than I thought.
1
Toadfinger Mar 23, 2026 +87
> In a post on Truth Social Sunday, Trump wrote that he wasn’t interested in making a deal with Democrats “unless, and until” they vote to support the SAVE America Act. Hell no! Stand up against tyranny! Do not fear the cult of traitors! They are on their way to extinction!
87
patentattorney Mar 23, 2026 +30
these dudes are generally nuts. When they are not in power they SCREAM about how there shouldnt be bills with multiple issues, and every issue should pass on their own. When they are in power, they have absolutely no issue with saying the other is to blame - while including deeply unpopular items in an omnibus bill
30
Money_Percentage_630 Mar 23, 2026 +10
I'm still curious why the Democrats submitted and bent themselves over during the last Government shutdown. Nothing says leadership, strength and commitment like surrendering to a bully than asking why they want more.
10
HyruleSmash855 Mar 24, 2026 +1
My guess is people were getting checks from SNAP and those people would be directly affected and would get angry due to how disruptive it would be, so there’s more pressure to not shut it down since it hurts people a lot more than DHS being shut down
1
Lonely_Noyaaa Mar 23, 2026 +74
>Trump blocked a Republican bill to fund TSA as airport security lines worsen nationwide, claiming the agency doesn't need additional resources. So there's a legitimate airport security crisis with TSA understaffed and lines getting worse, Republicans actually tried to fix it, and Trump killed the funding because... why exactly? He's deploying ICE agents to airports instead of just funding the agency that actually does airport security.
74
JournalistRecent1230 Mar 23, 2026 +34
Either he wants his "guys" to have more power or he wants to strong arm democrats into giving his "guys" more funding. Either way he sees it as a win for the MAGA-verse not to fund TSA. You know, until the shit hits the fan and he learns the hard way why goons doing the job they weren't trained for causes huge issues and he has to back peddle and then find a scape goat in his administration to pin it on.
34
BlacqanSilverSun Mar 23, 2026 +7
It's almost like we know what's gonna happen by now. Big Turd sees turd sandwich. Big Turd slips n falls in turd sandwich. Big Turd blames turd mess and smell on someone else.
7
ninja-squirrel Mar 23, 2026 +4
Its almost like it was written in a project plan that started in 2025.
4
DistractedPhoenix Mar 23, 2026 +22
It’s not just a security crisis and ruining spring break travel. Two pilots died yesterday due to critically understaffed ATC at LaGuardia. Air safety under Trump is an unmitigated disaster
22
dcoats69 Mar 23, 2026 +5
The atc issue isn't necessarily due to this shut down, because only tsa is unpaid. But it has definitely been getting worse under him
5
DistractedPhoenix Mar 23, 2026 +4
ATC’s across the country have been understaffed since the start of his term
4
SidewaysFancyPrance Mar 23, 2026 +3
Yeah, why is this not bigger news? I would not want to fly right now.
3
Frequent-Turn-9346 Mar 23, 2026 +15
He’s trying to strong arm this save America act which he’ll use to invalidate the midterm elections which he’s hoping will keep him out of prison. He’s playing checkers.
15
Vio_ Mar 23, 2026 +15
Because he wants to goal post shift ICE from working directly over immigrants to working directly over American citizens.
15
rzenni Mar 23, 2026 +6
He wants to see how much he can get away with before he says "ICE are going to be 'protecting the polling stations' during the elections".
6
Swimming-Fan7973 Mar 23, 2026 +9
He's not going to sign anything until the Democrats help pass the SAVE Act, because Republicans won't eliminate the filibuster to pass it on a party line vote.
9
idontagreewitu Mar 23, 2026 +3
Meh, TSA security is about on par with no-TSA security.
3
timmyintransit Mar 23, 2026 +34
Remember that time he helped torpedo a bipartisan immigration bill because it would be more advantageous for him to win the election?
34
JakeConhale Mar 23, 2026 +23
Remember when he torpedoed a perfectly serviceable agreement involving Iran's nuclear capability with no cause?
23
Nessy_monster36903 Mar 23, 2026 +1
There was a cause tho, the brown guy who used to be in charge but should never have been because he wasn't a white guy negotiated it. Therefore it was bad.
1
JakeConhale Mar 24, 2026 +1
Is that the average take across the pond? Thought you folks were past that.
1
Nessy_monster36903 Mar 24, 2026 +1
There probably should have been a /s on my comment. You missed the sarcasm
1
t23_1990 Mar 23, 2026 +6
The media did a good job of making people forget it
6
DistractedPhoenix Mar 23, 2026 +29
Does Congress know they can override their dear leader? It’s called “checks and balances”
29
Ok_Character_5532 Mar 23, 2026 +12
“I am the Senate”
12
HotDogFingers01 Mar 23, 2026 +23
They should ground all flights, including Air Force One. If Trump can’t get to his golf course I’ll bet this situation gets resolved really quick.
23
HousingOk6362 Mar 23, 2026 +17
Trump probably needs to have Ice in the airports to successfully pull off a false flag event. So nothing to worry about guys.
17
GarbagePailGrrrl Mar 23, 2026 +16
They’re trying to privatize TSA it’s in project 2025
16
mlorusso4 Mar 23, 2026 +6
I mean fine? Of all the un American things in that horrible manifesto, this doesn’t even register. Go to the SFO model. In fact, at least it would make it so whenever there’s a shutdown the airports don’t get fucked
6
eLCeenor Mar 24, 2026 +1
Yeah I love traveling through SFO specifically because I never spend more than 10 minutes in security. Just went through it last week for an international flight and same deal.
1
cinxgi Mar 23, 2026
It’s already outsourced to a third party govt contract.
0
DocM123 Mar 23, 2026 +9
I don’t understand their continued obedience to all things Trump. He’s wildly unpopular. He’s losing popularity, even among his own base. Every metric says that they’re going to lose badly at the midterms. Why not show a little bit of backbone against Trump?
9
Nessy_monster36903 Mar 23, 2026 +6
Because they know if they stay on his good side, when he rigs the midterms he'll help them stay in power. If they upset him now, when he rigs the midterms he'll choose someone to replace them
6
DocM123 Mar 23, 2026 +1
But if they actually stood up to Donald Trump, he couldn’t do anything to rig the midterms and he could finally retire to Florida and live out his days claiming how good he was. I mean it’s a problem of their own imagination. The 25th amendment exist for a reason.
1
Agnostros Mar 24, 2026 +1
And that would mean they wouldn't be the unquestioned rulers of America. Which is what they want.
1
Konukaame Mar 23, 2026 +9
>Senate Majority Leader John Thune approached Trump Sunday with a plan for Republicans to agree to fund all agencies under the banner of the Department of Homeland Security, with the exception of Immigration and Customs Enforcement Note how all the media outlets are now framing one of the baseline Democratic offers as a "Republican plan"
9
sxyaustincpl Mar 23, 2026 +5
The Democrats offered the opposite, to only fund TSA while negotiating over the rest and ICE reforms. That way they couldn't use reconciliation to pass it. This plan is Republicans trying to do an end run and avoid having to negotiate anything.
5
SeniorFlyingMango Mar 23, 2026 +7
And the right will still blame the left
7
MentalTourniquet Mar 23, 2026 +5
"What is 'a headline that will never be seen on Fox', Alex."
5
erasmus_of_edhar Mar 23, 2026 +6
as much as I'd love to see the Democrats and the Repbulicans come together and override a Trump veto, we all know it's never going to happen.
6
Heliosvector Mar 23, 2026 +4
Silver lining, with trump making fuel so expensive, soon flights will be so expensive, that no one will want to fly, so the lines will take care of themselves! :)
4
randomwords83 Mar 23, 2026 +4
Email your senators people. Get it on record that you want TSA paid without increasing funding for ICE and that you do not want the SAVE act passed.
4
FlexFanatic Mar 23, 2026 +4
Republicans always talk about bringing a clean bill to the floor. Voting to fund TSA would be a clean bill but they want the Democrats to blink because agents are not getting paid and lines are long. How long before there are more ad campaigns being played at airports blaming the Democrats for this nonsense.
4
rvretiredlife Mar 23, 2026 +7
Remember this is Trump and his Republicans when we vote in Nov. Trump is causing this not the democrats
7
DramaticWesley Mar 23, 2026 +3
We really need a separate funding bill for all the agencies that directly bring money into the country, like TSA and air traffic controllers. Those need 5 or 10 year funding bills because they keep America moving and help generate a bunch of revenue. I would also say USPS provides a tremendous service to the American people, but sadly it doesn’t turn a profit doing so.
3
Training_Medicine_49 Mar 23, 2026 +3
When will the GOP realize that Trump doesn’t care about the party or the brand of the party, he doesn’t mind sacrifice in the whole ship and watching it all sink. And I’ve been so surprised that they are just willing to go along with him in this trajectory that is a train wreck. When are they going to exert a backbone?
3
jimbobwalton2030 Mar 23, 2026 +3
Why aren’t the airlines paying for security ? Instead of the taxpayers.
3
sayn3ver Mar 24, 2026 +1
Because most airports are international points of entry or can be secondary points of entry if it's an international flight layover? Do other businesses not call the local police when they need assistance and pay for their own law enforcement? I'm typically not on the side defending law enforcement but border crossings and points of entry should be manned by the federal government as it is their job.
1
semibiquitous Mar 24, 2026 +1
Trump wants his brownshirts everywhere: airports, disneyland, parks, highway patrols, etc. How hot does the water need to be for you to realize you're in a boiling f****** pot ? Nobody is going to announce "We're living in Nazi America now". Because Trump would remove that media company before such announcement even happens. The more places ICE can be deployed, the more budget that they will suck away from legitimate agencies. I guess lets all just wait and complain about it
1
Aretirednurse Mar 23, 2026 +2
It’s all his fault as usual.
2
KnotSoSalty Mar 23, 2026 +2
O I guess I’ll just drive… …maybe I don’t need a retirement fund.
2
MiloGoesToTheFatFarm Mar 23, 2026 +1
The fact that Republicans want to resolve this proves Dems are winning.
1
Mad_Ronin_Grrrr Mar 24, 2026 +1
This country is fucked.
1
Black-Zero Mar 24, 2026 +1
The DNC just needs to ride this out. Do not back down. Let King Trump break the airline industry and make sure he gets full credit for it. When the enemy is doing something stupid, do not interfere.
1
Horror_Zone_1327 Mar 24, 2026 +1

1
RociBuldidi Mar 24, 2026 +1
Trump, the expert at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Even h******* Republicans were on Fox today saying it was a bad decision and they do t know why the President did it. Democrats were starting to take more and more heat for the shutdown. Trump just claimed full responsibility.
1
jupiter783 Mar 24, 2026 +1
Funny air traffic controllers and pilots have mandatory retirement ages due to their line of work. Apparently being president is not as hard a job since there’s no mandatory age requirements.
1
studiocleo Mar 24, 2026 +1
Why don't the house and senate get together, listen to their constituents, and overrule 47?
1
krispru1 Mar 24, 2026 +1
Andm yet t,he government website blames the democrats. Shocking that they lie
1
Intentionallyabadger Mar 24, 2026 +1
Damn does congress have no power at all
1
SoCali_Dude Mar 24, 2026 +1
Republicans control both Senate and the House and they follow DJT's orders. Supreme court have more conservative judges and seemed to avoid conflict with DJT, in my view. As of right now, DTJ is in control.
1
rainman_104 Mar 24, 2026 +1
Except the senate needs 60 voted to pass appropriations. So they're deadlocked.
1
kevendo Mar 24, 2026 +1
How wise is he going to justify ICE agents at airports as a precursor to ICE agents at polling stations in November? It's so so obvious and out in the open. We're sleepwalk towards autocracy.
1
cynicallow Mar 24, 2026 +1
I am to poor to fly. So for me this is just entertainment. And in a way if enough people feel some pain just just maybe they will put a stop to Some of the horrible shit America has been up to in the last 15 months. Probably expecting to much of my awful countrymen.

Airports locked up. Gas prices skyrocketing. Travel is essentially halted.
