My malignant narcissist of an ex-wife was like this. Holy smokes, was she a tornado of problems. Anyone who ran into her, she would have some sort of feud with. Just problems upon problems. She was always in fight mode. It was exhausting to hear her talking about the enemies she had made at work or the petty arguments she had won. Once she was done telling me all that, attention would go towards fighting me for whatever idiotic reason she could find. There is no logic with them. Things will not make sense and they are never guilty of anything. Everything is someone else's fault. Edit: I'll add that her best friend would do anything she would say. One day the friend told her she wanted to do something else and that challenged her in a weird way which resulted in an argument to the point that they stopped talking to each other for a while. It's really my way or the high way. Interestingly, if someone she argued with would somehow bend the knee to her, despite having insulted her in the past, she could easily switch to having that person be their friend. As long as you complied with what she wanted, she would be happy and that was it. Zero compromise.

Luckily, I remarried to an angel of a woman who always smiles when she sees me. She just dropped off the kids at camp and we're about to GET IT OOOOWWWWN.

i know someone like that. the blame shifting and mental gymnastics come so easily and naturally its scary. Yet they can turn it off long enough and hide it well enough, to con someone into a loving/caring relationship before they turn on them.

A lame duck Trump will be scary with what damage he decides to do on the way out. Someone has better start reinforcing now that he doesn’t need to worry about legacy. His mark on American and world history is already indelible.
59
Ikrit122 Apr 13, 2026 +27
We already saw a glimpse of the damage he can do in Jan 6. And if he genuinely feels threatened by a Democratic administration following him, then he will absolutely do everything he can to protect himself.

13
two_to_toot Apr 13, 2026 +58
Do you really believe he and MAGA will be gone in 3 years? I'm not American but I'd be pleasantly surprised if that was the case.
58
lunes_azul Apr 13, 2026 +24
Trump will be gone, yes. MAGA? That’s gonna be the tricky bit.
24
two_to_toot Apr 13, 2026 +36
This is why I'm not convinced. 1. He's a convicted felon who's shown to have no respect for the law (I don't understand how a felon can be President). 2. He's a alleged child molester. Desperate people do desperate things to avoid consequences.
36
Vyzantinist Apr 13, 2026 +23
>(I don't understand how a felon can be President). I've wondered this before. Apparently there's nothing stopping convicted criminals from running, and becoming, POTUS to prevent candidates from being convicted on trumped up charges to effectively negate the will of the people and automatically disbar them from an election. The only one that counts is a treason conviction from the 14th amendment. It's one of those gentleman's agreement things that has revealed something should have been codified. The understanding was supposed to have been that a candidate who was a convicted felon would be so odious to the people they'd never have much support. Yet here we are...
23
Legio-X Apr 13, 2026 +21
>I don't understand how a felon can be President Because there’s nothing in the Constitution that says a felon can’t be President, and barring felons from office would incentivize weaponizing the justice system against your enemies. It’s the duty of voters to vet candidates, and they pretty clearly failed in that regard.
21
unfnknblvbl Apr 13, 2026 +9
The whole damn *system* failed. Delays in charges being laid, political interference in said charges, delays in trials, delay delay delay oh no how could he possibly have become president?
9
Villag3Idiot Apr 13, 2026 +11
The thing about MAGA is that it's a cult of personality. It might well implode after Trump dies since they joined because of Trump and there's no clear successor.
11
TheVideogaming101 Apr 13, 2026 +22
its really this, MAGA knows the Trump brand is what keeps them in power. They'll just try and setup another Trump to take his place.
22
gimmethemshoes11 Apr 13, 2026 +13
Yes, he is MAGA, dies with him, nobody else can carry the mantle as has been proven. (Thankfully) They will slowly lose traction and be a left to history like the whig party.

>“Pope Leo is WEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy,” the president wrote on social media. >“He’s a very liberal person,” Trump said of Leo, before adding, “I’m not a fan of Pope Leo.” I may not be religious, but I have read the bible and been to my fair share of Sunday School classes. Enough to know that someone saying a religious leader of a Christian church that says they follow the teachings of Christ is "weak" on crime does not understand a single thing Jesus Christ said or did.
183
ladyperfect1 Apr 13, 2026 +96
Jesus: “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they—“ Trump: “BOO! WEAK on crime and terrible for Foreign Policy.”

997
banditta82 Apr 13, 2026 +486
His die hard Christian supporters are mostly evangelicals who generally do not like Catholics. If anything this will help him with them. Now if he outright attacked Jesus then he would actually lose them.
486
completeturnaround Apr 13, 2026 +316
I don't think he likes heroes who get crucified. He prefers people who weren't crucified. I am sure his followers will be willing to go along.

Evangelicals don't like anyone that isn't an Evangelical or a variation on Evangelical. Catholics, Lutherans, Mormons, etc, Evangelicals are absolutely the ones who would happily join with Christian Nationalists to force their version of Christianity down everyones throats.
63
Pepsi_Popcorn_n_Dots Apr 13, 2026 +29
No joke: It seems like a lot of Evangelicals are trying to distance themselves from "woke" Jesus to instead focus on the Old Testament which is full of foundational texts they can mine to fuel their hate
29
inquisitorautry Apr 13, 2026 +15
Just the parts of the Old Testament they agree with.

Evangelicals are Christian nationalists
47
ThrowTron Apr 13, 2026 +23
The KKK went after Catholics back in the day. Conservative Catholics have largely forgotten that little nugget. Many Evangelicals don't believe Catholics are real Christians.
23
jscummy Apr 13, 2026 +23
Honestly doubt it at this point. As long as he veiled it a little bit as "woke liberal" versions of Jesus they'd be fine with it. Plenty of them already hate the idea of loving your neighbor or helping the poor and needy.
23
Neat-Slip4520 Apr 13, 2026 +32
Can confirm. I was raised evangelical and believed Catholics were utter heathens in a dark cult. Again, talking to his base of white supremacists and evangelicals.
32
judgingyouquietly Apr 13, 2026 +29
The…dark cult that predated Protestantism and therefore evangelicalism? How did your church square that circle?
29
Neat-Slip4520 Apr 13, 2026 +22
There was no squaring of circles, friend. These were proudly uneducated “hillbillies” concerned more with the “End Times” narrative than anything else. Chills me to the bone how my parents were able to stomach raising me in this cesspool of ideology.
22
lucasd11 Apr 13, 2026 +7

I watched Nuremberg recently. The part where Goring was basically going to get away with it until he had to choose between maintaining his loyalty to (now known to be deceased) Hitler or being executed was….very timely. All he had to do was say hitler was wrong, but he refused. We are living it.

He talks about 'fear' of the Trump Administration, but doesn’t mention the FEAR that the Catholic Church, and all other Christian Organizations, had during COVID when they were arresting priests, ministers, and everybody else, for holding Church Services, even when going outside, and being ten and even twenty feet apart, I like his brother Louis much better than I like him, because Louis is all MAGA. He gets it, and Leo doesn’t!" >”I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s terrible that America attacked Venezuela, a Country that was sending massive amounts of Drugs into the United States and, even worse, emptying their prisons, including murderers, drug dealers, and killers, into our Country," Trump added. "And I don’t want a Pope who criticizes the President of the United States because I’m doing exactly what I was elected, IN A LANDSLIDE, to do, setting Record Low Numbers in Crime, and creating the Greatest Stock Market in History." >”Leo should get his act together as Pope, use Common Sense, stop catering to the Radical Left, and focus on being a Great Pope, not a Politician. Other people have tried that in the past, and all of them failed. Anyway, I don’t think they make papal garments in his size.

I'm not Catholic but loved what the Pope said about Leaders..... God rejects prayers of those whose hands are full of blood.

Didn’t think the antichrist will be a big fat idiot.
17
paperboy82 Apr 13, 2026 +14
Trump is no Christian, hell, he’s only identifying as republican because he was rejected by the democrats, and knew he couldn’t win as independent. Republicans love to label others as sheep, when they are the real sheep; fooled by a moron that’s still smarter than them, because he knows he just needs to be a fascist bigot to get their vote. Edit: spelling.

A few hundred years ago an attack like that directly against the Pope would result in your realm being placed under interdict

The Pope should just reply to every barb with "I forgive your transgressions"... Might give him an aneurysm
5
KinkyQuesadilla Apr 13, 2026 +9
Trump is putting so much more energy into attacking the Pope than he is trying to reduce inflation that it is comical.

Catholics have had a lot of friction with Trump for a long time. It's the Protestant evangelical Christians who love Trump.

The hardline anti abortion Catholics tended to like him
10
osumatthew Apr 13, 2026 +92
Not for me at least. Trump's policies and behavior have always been antithetical to authentic Catholic teaching. Pope Leo had every right to call him out on his evil behavior.

He has [under 50% approval with catholics](https://www.ncregister.com/cna/poll-catholic-support-for-president-donald-trump-drops-below-50-amid-iran-war), so probably not all that more difficult than any other faction of trump supporters that are being forced to constantly contradict themselves in their support of him
22
pepperino132 Apr 13, 2026 +8
That's American Catholics specifically, for clarity
8
Amonamission Apr 13, 2026 +16
I grew up Catholic. Trump’s a false Christian and doesn’t speak for any Christian. He’s just an a******.
16
Numerous-Ad6460 Apr 13, 2026 +23
Not really? Real Catholics didn't vote for him.
23
razor21792 Apr 13, 2026 +6
Not really. American Catholics are usually split pretty evenly between Republicans and Democrats. Trump saw big gains with Catholics in 2024, but he made gains across pretty much every category, so that's not surprising.
6
TonySu Apr 13, 2026 +3
Look on one hand Trump is the living embodiment of the Seven Deadly Sins, but on the other hand he is also hurting a lot of immigrants and poor people. He’s also the only one willing to defend the second commandment right to own guns, as Jesus (non-Hispanic) Christ intended.

Let me guess, Vance will have no comment on Trump attacking the leader of his religion...

I think I just figured out why Trump dislikes the Holy Father. ‘Da Pope’ was born in Chicago, and guess which other famous person that Trump dislikes is strongly associated with Chicago? Mr Obama himself. Edit: both Pope Leo and Obama are fans of the White Sox lmao
6
luisa65-L Apr 13, 2026 +6
A sitting US President actively beefing with the first American Pope reads like the plot of a completely unhinged HBO drama.

It sounds like a satire... like something *The Onion* would write. No? Not a satire?!!! I stand corrected, it came from AP News. This is for real. God help us.

Seems like something the anti-christ would do
5
psyduckhunt Apr 13, 2026 +9
Did everyone also see the post immediately after this where he depicted himself as Jesus? It's the most blasphemous, sacrilegious thing that I've ever seen. My Trump supporting mother in law is currently in tears about it apparently.

5

How is his next post portraying him as Jesus not the headline??? Guy is the antichrist.
4

I mean... If starting a feud with the pope - after all the unspeakably evil shit he has done - doesn't make people think "perhaps he's the Antichrist"... what will?!

Imagine b*tching endlessly about not getting a Peace Prize and then attacking the Pope.
8

Anytime he talks about the pope all that plays in my head is Dragon Age ‘Now we threaten priests, what fun!’
3
Koenigss15 Apr 13, 2026 +3
Does he want the trifecta of being the Pope, Iran's Supreme Leader and Leader of the Free World? I think the thought probably crosses his addled brain.
3
dunkindonato Apr 13, 2026 +4
During the conclave last year, Trump actually posted an AI generated picture of him as Pope. His followers waved that off as him making a joke, but I wouldn't put it past his dementia-addled brain.
4
LosinCash Apr 13, 2026 +3
When will Trump threaten him, that's the real question. I give it about a week.
3
imanchats Apr 13, 2026 +3
So MAGA is at war with Islam and Christianity?
3
bradbull Apr 13, 2026 +3
I'm not going to be saying anything new by addressing this madness but what I do want to say is that it shocks and saddens me that true American patriots haven't gone after the media companies which helped facilitate this situation they (USA) are in.. well.. that we're all in I guess.. by spewing lies to the most mentally vulnerable. I'm assuming they think these companies/stations are 'too big' to hurt and their studios/offices aren't flammable or something. Maybe they're just not angry enough yet. Kumbayahs aren't seeming very effective is all I'm saying. These companies just keep rolling on by knowingly lying for and promoting a government which is murdering Americans (and others overseas), stealing from Americans and lying to Americans. I do wonder if they'll get angry enough if this traitorous regime does manage to suppress its citizens most important and powerful right, to vote. Maybe then some of the hundreds of millions of Americans will fight for their country. If it doesn't risk their comfortable situations in any way. If there's nothing good on TV that day. I'll take your "what are YOU doing about it?" comments below.

Badgerman97 Apr 13, 2026 +3
Moron, there are 1.4 billion Catholics in the world. Why should he give two shits about why you were or were not elected in one country out of hundreds?
3
Negafox Apr 13, 2026 +3
“Praise to be Allah” - President Trump on Easter, the first president to decline taking the oath on a Bible during inauguration in over 60 years.. *twice* (Meanwhile you have MAGA acting like this guy is the second coming of Christ)
3
dhaliman Apr 13, 2026 +3
Doesn’t Trump understand that he’s the problem?
3
Venat14 Apr 13, 2026 +4
No, he's a malignant narcissist. It's literally impossible for him to ever believe he's the problem.
4
macross1984 Apr 13, 2026 +3
Trump just love create more problems of his own making. Past US presidents would have just shrugged if they were criticized but Trump has very thin skin easily annoyed and angered if it doesn't jive with his idea of MAGA.
3
iCowboy Apr 13, 2026 +3
Reminder, that somehow he got 55% of the Catholic vote in 2024 when he was running against a devout Catholic.
3
Venat14 Apr 13, 2026 +5
To clarify, Kamala is a Baptist. Biden is a Catholic. So Trump was running against a Baptist Christian while blaming all the country's problems on a devout Catholic. And he still got 60% of the Christian vote, including 80% of Evangelicals and more than half of Catholics.
5
InsanelyAverageFella Apr 13, 2026 +3
Picking a fight with the pope. I'm disgusted but not even surprised at this point.
3
MommersHeart Apr 13, 2026 +5
Pope: Calls for peace and says war is bad. Trump: Says he’s the reason the Pope was chosen and posts an image of himself as Jesus Christ. Evangelicals: The Pope is the Antichrist.
