in my humble opinion dems should not cave on this

ChocoboAndroid Mar 23, 2026 +4261
He's taking something that could arguably be blamed on Dems (DHS shutdown) and making clear he's to blame. Great move!

Moon_Rose_Violet Mar 23, 2026 +522
Siccing ICE agents on regular airline travelers is also just woefully bad politics! ICE is like 700 points underwater with the average American right now. Believe it or not, I don’t think this guy gets it!
522
AHans Mar 23, 2026 +202
>Siccing ICE agents on regular airline travelers is also just woefully bad politics! Strongly agree. If you're not in a liberal city Trump has decided to declare war on, you have (hitherto) been insulated from the disaster that ICE is. This is going to result in his brownshirts in conservative states as well as liberal states. Their chronic "snafus" are going to impact far more people. ICE wasn't adequately trained for immigration administration, they certainly will be *less* prepared for airline security. This will probably be another complete disaster. I'm just glad I don't fly very often.
202
ttvlolrofl Mar 23, 2026 +62
Yeah this will disproportionately affect Americans that are wealthy enough to fly. And since wealthy Americans have all of the power, they need to experience this clusterfuck.
62
OldButHappy Mar 24, 2026 +1
Right? They’re insulated from worrying about having enough to just cover fuel, food, and utility bills. This should get their attention, at least
1
shurfire Mar 23, 2026 +1703
I wouldn't hold your breath. Last shutdown the population mostly agreed it was the Republicans causing it and the Dems caved in.
1703
KakarotSSJ4 Mar 23, 2026 +115
We do have to remember that they were holding SNAP benefits over their head and were willing to let people starve. The Dems have no reason to “cave” this time, especially when the Republicans keep rejecting funding to everything but ICE.
115
Plants-Matter Mar 23, 2026 +60
Yes. I'm so sick of hearing how the Dems "caved in". People were literally starving to death because trump was illegally withholding SNAP payments, which judges ordered he had to release. Their plan was otherwise solid, they just didn't factor in the possibility of trump illegally starving people to death. I know some of it is bots spreading propaganda ahead of the midterms, but a lot of real people, not very bright, are taking the bait and spreading a false narrative.
60
Randomman96 Mar 23, 2026 +25
Not to mention, them "caving" also didn't include the provision they attempted to put in that would treat TSA differently and exclude them to the limited funding the rest of the DHS would get as Republicans refused to allow it. Which of course brings us to the issues around TSA right now and their manpower shortage in airports around the nation as DHS is shut down and they're included in it. The Dems gave the Republicans a very easy out to what would inevitably happen from not passing any new DHS funding, which would also inevitably occur as air travel would begin picking back up. But go on, tell us how the Democrats completely caved to everything the Republicans wanted then.
25
Kind_Man_0 Mar 23, 2026 +1305
If there is anything you can rely on the DNC for, it's that they will find some way to f*** it up for themselves. I can't wait to hear Chuck Schumer brag about how democrats held out and won the battle for a Republican Pinky Promise.
1305
NaPaCo88 Mar 23, 2026 +559
I read recently that “every time Chuck Schumer takes the gloves off (with Republicans) it reveals another pair of gloves underneath.” Perfect description
559
TheMadChatta Mar 23, 2026 +255
He pushes back harder against progressives in his own party than Trump and the GOP.
255
SelfAwareAl Mar 23, 2026 +84
I mean, that's the entire point and exactly how corporate Dems operate. They're Republicans in everything but name.
84
alejo699 Mar 23, 2026 +64
Well, except when it comes to corruption. And balancing the budget. And pedophilia. And protecting pedophilia. And stripping rights from minorities. But otherwise yes. Exactly the same. (To be clear, I am not a fan of either party, both of which are controlled by corporate interests. But let's be realistic here.)
64
sloppy_rodney Mar 23, 2026 +109
Yeah, but even the Democratic leadership is smart enough to know that the Save Act is bad for them. It’s specifically designed to disempower them. I don’t think they will cave on a direct challenge to their power.
109
Kqtawes Mar 23, 2026 +36
The last shutdown fight people's food stamps were at risk. Even with court decisions against them the Trump administration was threatening to withhold all food stamp funding and people would have gone hungry. I really wish people would recognize that reality.
36
rvretiredlife Mar 23, 2026 +24
Let's not forget nixing Obama care subsidies that has now cost people medical insurance. Which is now too high so people are going without. Remember Republicans said let's stop the shutdown and we'll revisit Obama subsidies - nope . Once the Dems caved on the shutdown Republicans moved on and never voted for the subsidies. So over 50% of people want changes to ICE and we don't want voter suppression and we want medical care for our trans kids. Everything Trump wants hurts people. We need to stay strong 💪 and not gave to trumps demands!!!!
24
voodoodahl Mar 23, 2026 +12
*Were* going hungry. The democrats 'caved' when people were starting their second month without food assistance. That includes WIC (baby formula).
12
Nop277 Mar 23, 2026 +16
It was the democrats in a couple states that were the reason more people didn't go hungry. My state (Washington) and Oregon too I think worked night and day to send out food stamps when there was a window due to Jackson's ruling. Trump was pissed, they ended up threatening us over it.
16
Sparkyisduhfat Mar 23, 2026 +60
Who will blame him? Certainly not his goal post moving sycophantic cultists.
60
blackstone17 Mar 23, 2026 +57
I came to say the same. Sure. Go right ahead and hijack the shutdown for the SAVE act that is never going to pass. I hope the airport workers strike nationwide to force his hand, so he'll lose the shutdown stalemate, the SAVE act, and funding for DHS. He's also going to cave on the Iran war, which he should and should've never started, but he's about to rack up so many losses that he may just resign if JD Vance can make him believe he'll get a pardon for the raping children in the files. If he stays in office past the midterms, he's going totally attempt the insurrection act lmao Edit: Also, I love how immediately obvious it is that Trump is being advised by either someone who doesn't give a f*** about him or Americans or he's so cognitively melted that it's impossible to advise him and he's making his own decisions. Hell, his handlers might get rid of him themselves just to rid themselves of the biggest, stankest headache they've ever had.
57
Grizkniz Mar 23, 2026 +11
Exactly! Dems don’t need to cave here. Everyone knows this is all Trumps fault. Hold the line. I would also rebuttal with will pass the save act but only stripped down version, down to only showing ID at the poles part. Which happens already. Basically spit in their faces at the Save Act.
11
regeya Mar 23, 2026 +18
Yeah. Please, Mr. President, do this right after a plane crash. Please make it clear that forcing Americans to have a Real ID to vote, is more important to Republicans than safe air travel. Please. Keep it up!
18
doom_slug_ Mar 23, 2026 +335
Right - Trump just took undeniable ownership of the shutdown. Let him ride that to the midterms.
335
hungryasabear Mar 24, 2026 +1
Just like the last shutdown, they'll cave again. Spineless fucks.
1
ChicVintage Mar 24, 2026 +1
If the cave on this they lose every election
1
Frozen_Esper Mar 24, 2026 +1
Quite possibly both because of lost support *and* the actual effects of the bill. 🙃
1
Churchbushonk Mar 24, 2026 +1
Yep. Let him own it. Dems need to be on the TV, radio, and Manosphere c*** saying three things: 1. We have given Trump and Congressional GOP members 7 different bills to fund TSA, they keep voting them down. 2. Epstein Files being covered up stinks to all heaven. 3. Iran is a f****** shit show. No plan, no goals, and it was either Israel that forced Donny to take action or it was some viral dumb TIK TOK feed. Cause it wasn’t based on intelligence.
1
HanginOn9114 Mar 23, 2026 +277
The last shutdown was much worse as people started missing SNAP payments. In this case the Democrats literally have nothing to lose except delayed air travel which is another marker of the complete failure of this administration. If Trump wants a complete freeze on everything until midterms it's only a win for Democrats.
277
theVoidWatches Mar 23, 2026 +101
And as a note - they held the last shutdown until they got gains from the election, and when they caved they got SNAP payments assured for longer than the rest of the government. As many people said at the time, it meant that the next shutdown wouldn't have SNAP as leverage for the GOP - and indeed, there hasn't been a worry that anyone will starve because of missed SNAP this time.
101
Plants-Matter Mar 23, 2026 +51
Correct. The Dem strategy has been a lot smarter than the average commenter on here realizes. There's very little they can tangibly do when our electorate gives them zero power, so the moves they do make, have to be extremely calculated to be effective.
51
Billyosler1969 Mar 23, 2026 +63
Under no circumstances should Democrats vote for SAVE act. It would be akin to signing your own death warrant.
63
aaronhayes26 Mar 23, 2026 +130
If the dems cave on the SAVE act there’s literally nothing left after that
130
Dry_Accident_2196 Mar 23, 2026 +33
There always something left for Dems to give to Republicans
33
phoenixmusicman Mar 23, 2026 +24
There won't be Dems after the SAVE act, American fascism would have been implemented, complete with a veneer of Democracy
24
FreeEdmondDantes Mar 23, 2026 +33
At the risk of sounding unrealistic, this will be the one they don't ever cave on. They caved on the other because they feared losing goodwill with the people as the Republican blame game was strong against the Dems. This time, the goodwill of the people or popularity won't matter at all, ever again, if they cave. This isn't the final battle, but if we lose it, it will be.
33
Raspberries-Are-Evil Mar 23, 2026 +18
I don't think they will. There is nothing to gain by caving. TSA is annoying yes, but the vast majority of Americans do not fly anywhere.
18
BeastInDarkness Mar 23, 2026 +114
I hope not but I have zero faith in Schumer.
114
francis2559 Mar 23, 2026 +48
Warren and others making noise about replacing Schumer. It’s not likely to happen, but the secondary effects are likely the point. They’re making a threat about his spine, which pressures him to stand up. Glad to see it.
48
demonmonkeybex Mar 23, 2026 +17
Time to retire Schumer whether he wants to or not.
17
ItsTimetoLANK Mar 23, 2026 +120
They will. They always do. There's not spine among them all.
120
NotEveryoneIsSpecial Mar 23, 2026 +99
I actually don't think they will cave. The SAVE act could end up hurting them pretty badly so it is in their best interest to fight it as much as they can. I think self preservation wins out over spinelessness in this case.
99
Sea_Green7967 Mar 23, 2026 +102
The SAVE act will hurt everybody. Only half will actually realize it.
102
belbivfreeordie Mar 23, 2026 +13
Yep. It’s VERY shortsighted to throw away democracy because your guy is on top at the moment. The people in charge change very quickly and they’re not going to be doing stuff you like forever, especially when they’re not accountable to voters anymore.
13
TheBalzy Mar 23, 2026 +26
Agreed. I don't see the Dems actually caving on this, like at all. They have nothing to gain by opening the government fully again because it makes Trump look bad, the Iran war is making Trump look bad...the SAVE act itself looks bad to the voters you need to showup in 2026. I just don't see any motive to vote for the SAVE act. Unless, like, Israel military spending was somehow held up because of it...but then again, that would fall on Trump if it didn't pass because that would be something he and Republicans also want.
26
strangelyliteral Mar 23, 2026 +20
They also have a lot to lose by voting for the SAVE act. Like their jobs when the new provisions ruin their midterm chances.
20
TheBalzy Mar 23, 2026 +12
Bingo. At this Point the Democrats just have to sit on their hands and do nothing and they Should take the house by a rather large margin (as things look right now) and will likely take the senate (Maine, North Carolina, Alaska, Ohio with Texas, Nebraska (I), Montana (I) all on the table as well).
12
Hammunition Mar 23, 2026 +9
It’s weird to see the revisionist characterizations and in only a few months… you remember people were going hungry because of the last “stand”? Obviously it was because of the sociopathic Republicans, but if having a “spine” means starving people, then I am glad they chickened out. Their fight should have come long before then, and punishing poor people for their oversights is worse. Check your own privilege while you’re at it. This time, there is none of that though. TSA doesn’t work, oh well. If only they were fighting for more than basic morality for ICE. Also the position on the right is even more insane this time. The only thing they are refusing is to..have ICE follow the law in order to fund the other agencies? It’s absurd to force a shutdown so that ICE can continue to be lawless and that is not a hard point to make.

ecafyelims Mar 23, 2026 +112
Even if IDs were free and easy to get, the problem is much worse. The ID requirement is unfairly levied, where the poll worker might not ask for an ID if they see the voter is registered Republican. Even when a Democrat has an ID, the poll worker might be extra particular if the ID looks like it might be of a different person. Or maybe the voter name doesn't exactly match the ID, such as a different last name or middle name. The ID requirements are not equally applied to potential voters, so more often the "wrong party" voters are not allowed to vote.
112
chadius333 Mar 23, 2026 +24
Standard IDs, like a driver’s license, would not be an acceptable form of ID if this passes. You would need a passport, birth certificate, or similar.
24
phyrros Mar 23, 2026 +12
I never understood why the USA is so.. backwards in many regards.

The founding fathers probably dreaded this moment and did everything in their power to put as much roadblocks as they could.
15
ColdBru5 Mar 23, 2026 +6
Well seeing as it took almost 200 years from the founding to get past the Jim Crow era I don't think they would have been too mad about it. Let's not forget our first pedo president was Thomas Jefferson. MLK would have been pissed though.
6
MostCandid5082 Mar 23, 2026 +7
That’s what I’m saying. I don’t give two shits about the founding fathers. They were not progressive and were perfectly fine calling my people “3/5s of a person.”
7
N_Who Mar 23, 2026 +2080
Proving once again that Republicans are perfectly willing to hurt Americans, if that's what they have to do to get their way without compromise.
2080
Snagglespoof Mar 23, 2026 +387
Blame the minority party while you're in charge!
387
DeuceGnarly Mar 23, 2026 +117
Be careful though - the GOP has mastered grinding government to a halt when they're in the minority. It's always possible for bad actors in government to f*** things up. The difference here is that dems just want a lawless pack of assholes reined in, as do almost all Americans. Republicans though, insist they can have a gestapo force, unconstrained by law. So the GOP has taken TSA hostage... And they're blaming the Dems for expecting negotiations around ICEs conduct.
117
deesta Mar 23, 2026 +23
And when that same minority party was in power, they got all the blame that came with it (as they should). GOP's MO is heads I win, tails you lose.
23
ReklisAbandon Mar 23, 2026 +6
The suffering is their kink.
6
StanDaMan1 Mar 23, 2026 +1465
Republicans have majorities in the House and Senate, and possess the White House, so… …Who here is supposed to open the Government? Actually, correction: who here is supposed to pay the TSA? Because that’s apparently the only thing that shut down: TSA.
1465
Predator_ Mar 23, 2026 +934
Democrats have put forth 7 proposals to fully fund the TSA via suspension of Senate rules, while separating the rest of DHS funding bill. Republicans have blocked each of those 7 proposals.
934
TranquilSeaOtter Mar 23, 2026 +379
And on social media, the Epstein class is pushing propaganda blaming Democrats for the chaos at airports.
379
Predator_ Mar 23, 2026 +85
Sure, if Republicans can't gain politically, then they don't care. They only "care about the people" when it benefits them somehow.
85
whatproblems Mar 23, 2026 +23
well yeah they never care about reality just the perception of it.
23
alienbringer Mar 23, 2026 +45
Then Ted Cruz proposed the exact same thing as Dems did and the news is acting like it is some new thing.
45
signgain82 Mar 23, 2026 +38
It is new. Republicans are now saying ok we can fund TSA now, but Trump said nope.
38
SnowboardSyd Mar 23, 2026 +8
Its probably going to take a veto override to get passed. Unless Trump simply refuses to sign the bill, then it basically is ratified at that point.
8
burlycabin Mar 23, 2026 +14
>Because that’s apparently the only thing that shut down: TSA. I work in the maritime industry and all "non-critical" Coast Guard functions are shutdown. It's a huge pain in the ass for us. (But the Dems better not cave anytime soon)
14
thishasntbeeneasy Mar 23, 2026 +12
Fun fact, you get charged for the TSA fees with your plane tickets even during a shutdown. The money is there, they just aren't paying out
12
redditreveal Mar 23, 2026 +10
Let the country shut down, money talks, and if money isn’t flowing, then Trump will cave because business people will be all over his ass and one thing we know about Trump is that he caves.
10
Xullister Mar 23, 2026 +468
Congrats Trump, now you own high gas prices *and* long lines at the airport.
468
xicor Mar 23, 2026 +117
His cultists all believe the dems are at fault for the tsa delays
117
ohlookahipster Mar 23, 2026 +61
Yep. The reductionist rhetoric is super pervasive now on Insta and FB that “the Dems can fund TSA whenever they want.” Any comments pointing out how there have been proposals rejected by the GOP or how the GOP controls all branches of government is simply met with a “no.” They’ve got their talking points and no context to elaborate further.
61
HoldingForGenova Mar 23, 2026 +24
Because you're fighting a deliberate lie with fact checking. They know it's a lie. It's performative dishonesty. The whole purpose is to separate "us" from "them" and you're volunteering to be "them." Stop playing their games. Just start replying with "he/she/this person is lying." Don't entertain the lie - just point it out. "That's a lie. You're lying. Stop lying." It drives them nuts because you see through the game, and it makes them look stupid (they are.)
24
donkeyrocket Mar 23, 2026 +19
Honestly at this point, who cares? This doesn’t need to be said every single time. Those morons are going to eat whatever they’re fed. We should really stop caring what they’ll believe. They won’t vote for Democrats so their opinion is completely irrelevant. And anyone who is “undecided” is just an embarrassed Conservative so also irrelevant.
19

199
Moveyourbloominass Mar 23, 2026 +49
That bureaucratic sinkhole should have never been established in the first place. Under the Bush/Cheney Cabal there was countrywide opposition. There were protests everywhere for months. They stole funding for firefighters, even they were out protesting. It was just a horrible horrible Republican f*** up. It was so bad, the rotten Republicans finally got the bill passed for DHS's under the cover of darkness and behind closed doors at 3 am in the morning. This was all Karl Rove's doing. Tom Ridge, who was its first leader, barely made it a year at DHS. He even knew what a f*** up it was. I'm truly amazed how so many Americans have forgotten the battle to keep it from happening. It was brutal.
49
dogbite22 Mar 23, 2026 +15
Not to mention, Al Gore was cheated he won and they had the Supreme Court manipulate. The Chad’s I’ll never forget it.
15
Moveyourbloominass Mar 23, 2026 +11
The "the hanging chads." Holy c*** so much bad shit & corruption seems to originate from Florida. We're dealing with more origins of c*** from Florida. When will it end. That is where Roberts sold his soul and this country for a Supreme Court seat.
11

Lol dems get no benefits from funding DHS, and get winning the elections by not supporting that BS law, so.
422
hskfmn Mar 23, 2026 +284
He's banking on Dems caving...which, let's just honest, is not entirely impossible. I'm hoping that they'll all hold strong...but we've still got \~8 months until the midterms.
284
Flamboiant_Canadian Mar 23, 2026 +55
It's only DHS. Pass the "millions can't vote Act" to fund 70k jobs lol.
55
Makenshine Mar 23, 2026 +117
Dems cave is essentially their mantra. Just look at the overwhelming support they got during the last shutdown, only to cave 2 days later. I would not be at all surprised if the Dems say, "fine, we will let the courts shut this down." Establishment dems are very reluctant to take a firm stance on things.
117
spazz720 Mar 23, 2026 +49
The last shutdown involved all govt employees not getting paid. This one only involves the DHS. The collateral damage is a lot less.
49
cmcdonald22 Mar 23, 2026 +15
All it's going to take is flight delays and air traffic impacting profits enough for the majority of democrats to get calls from like 5 millionaires, not even billionaires, threatening 'donations' and Schumer and Jeffries will whip enough number of sacrificial lamb voters to pass it.
15
Xethos Mar 23, 2026 +6
Easter travel is going to be a mess. Good thing senators don’t have priority in security lines anymore they need to suffer with the rest of us.

We're one step away from "I will hold my breath and stomp my feet until I my plan to suppress voting goes through" which wouldn't surprise anyone at this point even if Trump literally resorted to that. Amazing how anyone could ever fall for the ruse that Trump was a master negotiator as opposed to an amoral stooge who managed to fail his way up in life.
104
NoSwimmers45 Mar 23, 2026 +32
Someone really needs to tell him Obama could hold his breath for 5 minutes.
32
ElysiumSprouts Mar 23, 2026 +41
Republicans can have their cake and eat it too. Charge Trump from the Epstein files and remove him from office. Then they can keep the policies they like and get back to normal governance. Everyone knows he's dragging down the GOP. Might as well stem the bleeding and try and get to fixing things sooner than later. (Spoilers: they won't)
41
ElectricalFinance963 Mar 23, 2026 +15
6 months ago maybe. But the Repedocan party is dead. Literally the only way they will hold any power ever again is by stealing the 2026 midterms. The cat is out of the bag, they will never be trusted again.
15
ElysiumSprouts Mar 23, 2026 +16
Unfortunately, too many Americans live in constant survival mode and literally can't pay attention. They're extra susceptible to propaganda.

I think brainwashing/propaganda have more to do with it. There's still idiots that think Obama is a secret Kenyan Muslim.

Fine. No shutdown deal. Democrats need to hold the line. I don’t care what the Orange Muppet does—let him own it. He is counting on Democrats being appalled and caving to his demands because they care about others. The fact is that Democrats aren’t hurting people here; Republicans are. Democrats offered to keep the TSA funded. Republicans refused because they *want* travelers to be upset. Trump *wants* ICE to torment people. They know Democrats care. They are using innocent people—tormenting them at the airport—for their own political desires (and those desires are to disenfranchise voters, obtain a permanent Republican majority in Congress, and secure the White House for their own party long into the future). Do. Not. Cave. Losing here means losing for the next decade or more.

Republicans control both chambers. Proceed.
225
Kilane Mar 23, 2026 +37
Don’t be shy about their control, they control both chambers for the country, the presidency, the Supreme Court, the majority over governors, the majority or state chambers.
37
BigHungryFlamingo Mar 23, 2026 +94
That’s fine. Keep the government shut down until the traitors are flushed down the drain.
94
SeriousObjective6727 Mar 23, 2026 +29
"A government shutdown is a failure of presidential leadership" Guess who said that?
29
Evilhenchman Mar 23, 2026 +23
They should have called it the "We know we'll lose the midterms so we need to cheat" act
23
Mountain_Reveal7849 Mar 23, 2026 +21
The President of the United States is currently holding democracy hostage. Pass the word.
21
wurtin Mar 23, 2026 +42
Cruz already said he wants a bill just to fund the TSA, see if he’s willing to separate from Trump and sponsor a simple bill.
42
spazz720 Mar 23, 2026 +17
Thune did too…I think they are going to bypass Trump and make him veto it.
17
FickleSystem Mar 23, 2026 +8
They could Veto proof the bill which I think they would in the Senate but punk ass Mike Johnson probley wouldnt even bring it up for a vote in the house because hes such a f****** p****

Social media companies don't amplify Dem voices the same way they do Republicans.
95
FrogsOnALog Mar 23, 2026 +32
Amazing how these people are probably hyper aware of billionaires owning the media but then can’t put together the next part in why democrats struggle to get their message out lol
32
BatManatee Mar 23, 2026 +27
Republicans own basically all the media. They control which voices get amplified.
27
spazz720 Mar 23, 2026 +56
They are…the media is controlled by the right wing. They are not airing it.
56
dino-sour Mar 23, 2026 +31
It's controlled by the right and then they claim it's the "liberal media" anytime it's not 10000% favorable to Trump. I truly don't understand how so many people can be so dumb.
31
hskfmn Mar 23, 2026 +16
So, basically holding the country hostage.
16
Timeformayo Mar 23, 2026 +13
So, no shutdown deal. I'm sure a bunch of shit trained ICE thugs terrorizing airline passengers will do wonders for Trump's support. Dumb a******.
13
SpraykwoN Mar 23, 2026 +12
Dems should NOT cave on this. At all. That SAVE act is going to screw voting forever. F*** that
12
MeatMullet Mar 23, 2026 +11
Don't give into the Pedophile President Trump's voter suppression bill. I will wait in longer lines and pay more for gas to see this ass hat kicked out of office.
11
Del292 Mar 23, 2026 +9
For the love of god Schumer please don’t fold like a limp noodle
9
fuck-nazi Mar 23, 2026 +10
Ok. Guess airports are going to shut down. Dems need to be hitting the airwaves with downsides of voting act
10
Pokerhobo Mar 23, 2026 +11
Trump \_should\_ be scared of midterms. The "SAVE" America Act isn't the only thing he's trying to suppress voting or outright steal the election. He's already suggested: \- ICE at polling stations \- federalizing state elections \- canceling elections (I'm sure he'll create another "national emergency") The DOJ has already taken voting data so don't be surprised if they step into some swing votes to tip it in MAGA's favor.
11
dektheeb Mar 23, 2026 +10
Man who is asking for 200 billion to fund his unpopular war with Iran tries to strong-arm his opposition into passing a bill they don't like by withholding money from a department they also don't like...
10
OldRain5261 Mar 23, 2026 +10
Our democracy is dying, and these are the final nails in the coffin. Time for a bigger response to the SAVE act.
10
VulfSki Mar 23, 2026 +9
Alright shut it the f*** down then. Stopping the SAVE act is really really important
9
JohnTheResistant Mar 23, 2026 +17
You're not rigging the midterms, a******. 🖕
17
phoenix14830 Mar 23, 2026 +10
Remember the last shutdown, where the Democrats caved and the country got worse? Here we go again. You need to register to vote. Illegals can't register to vote. You don't need an enhanced ID to do it. Every Republican in office was voted in using the current system, but they think the system is broken when they lose. This isn't about making voting safer or more secure, it's about alienating some of the voters who are legally able to vote because they feel it will favor them come election time.
10
Raspberries-Are-Evil Mar 23, 2026 +8
The Senate this morning was about to get in and pass a bi partisan deal to get TSA funded and Trump just fucked that up. Personally, I think the Senate/House should pass it, and force Trump to veto it.

"You will all continue to suffer until you grant me the ability to make your suffering permanent!" \- Donald J. Trump, 2026
8
sxyaustincpl Mar 23, 2026 +8
Guess the shutdown is lasting until the next democratic administration then 🤷🏻‍♂️
8
MisterWanderer Mar 23, 2026 +7
Shut the government down or allow reps to rig elections? The answer is clear, shut it down.
7
Jareddiesattheend19 Mar 23, 2026 +5
So he wont make a deal unless he gets handed the midterms, f*** trump and if you voted for him f*** you too
5
HarunAlMalik Mar 23, 2026 +6
Dems should never cave again. It has never gained them anything in the past.
6
JayTNP Mar 23, 2026 +8
ok then the shutdown never ends, that’s fine
8
a_niffin Mar 23, 2026 +7
The SAVE act is already dead, Dems absolutely cannot cave on this.
7
MasterBlazt Mar 23, 2026 +8
If the Dems cave, America is lost.
8
CraigonReddit Mar 23, 2026 +6
Hey TSA workers, how do you like this A hole using your and your family's lively hood as a paun in his scheme to stay in power and out of jail. Sounds like the kind of guy you should vote for /a
6
Wolfman01a Mar 23, 2026 +7
Shut it all down.
7
BrookeBMa Mar 23, 2026 +4
The art of No Deal.
4
CrossBamboAtTen Mar 23, 2026 +5
Holding America hostage so he and the GOP can continue to cheat in elections.
5
Prince_Marf Mar 23, 2026 +5
"I won't end the shutdown that makes me look bad until you agree to throw the midterm and basically end democracy." It's a proposal so stupid that only democrats would consider agreeing to it. I hate them so much.
5
hoffman4 Mar 23, 2026 +6
“Unless you make it impossible for the majority of married women to vote, I will destroy our travel industry. “DJT “I took away your reproductive rights and looking forward to stripping women of voting”
6
marshallaw215 Mar 23, 2026 +5
Then no f****** deal F*** you for all eternity …. Dems better die on this f****** hill
5
FingFrenchy Mar 23, 2026 +6
It really pisses me the f*** off when they come up with these names for bills that are just straight up bullshit. And this one is even more insane because it makes major and restrictive changes to the voting system for a problem that DOESN'T F****** EXIST.
6
Z0idberg_MD Mar 23, 2026 +7
No TSA until we disenfranchise millions of voters to rig an election!
7
GeistMD Mar 23, 2026 +6
F*** Trump and Republicans for trying to take America's right to vote! F*** all those traitors!
6
Phog_of_War Mar 23, 2026 +7
Lol, call TACOs bluff.
7
the2belo Mar 23, 2026 +6
I don't know about you but this sounds a hell of a lot like extortion to me, not a deal.
6
LeonardSmallsJr Mar 23, 2026 +5
If you don’t let me play with matches, I won’t run around the house breaking things! /toddler
5
Intro-Nimbus Mar 23, 2026 +5
So the genius negotiator can't negotiate a deal? All he's got left is an ultimatum and a failed government.
5
ManagementNo1293 Mar 23, 2026 +5
The final season of America is insane. Hope Paramount replaces it with something better next year.
5
Black_magic_money Mar 23, 2026 +4
Somebody stop that girl from New Hampshire
4
RadicalOrganizer Mar 23, 2026 +5
Umm. Ok. We accept this deal. No disenfranchisement of millions of voters in exchange for nothing. Sounds great
5
_Miss_Eclipse Mar 23, 2026 +4
Dudes holding the government hostage so that the government will help him destroy democracy. Truly dark times
4
J-the-Kidder Mar 23, 2026 +5
Then keep it shut down. If he wants something this bad, you know it's THAT bad for us. Keep it shut down and keep proposing stand alone bills for TSA and other departments.
5
-Mage-Knight- Mar 23, 2026 +3
Lol. Keep the government shut down then. Stopping the SAVE act from passing is good enough reason to shut diwn the government all by itself.
3
Suspicious-Steak-335 Mar 23, 2026 +7
shut it down until mid terms. in absolutely no way can any Dem vote for the blatant disenfranchisement caused by the shoddy and poorly written bill.
7
Lostsailor73 Mar 23, 2026 +5
Dems, please remember the TACO principle as you build your strategy to combat this absurdity.
5
FangornLeghorn Mar 23, 2026 +6
Hold the line. F*** him and his fascist f*** friends.
6
SR337 Mar 23, 2026 +6
So the White House social medias are blasting out propaganda multiple times a day about how the dems are 100% to blame for the shutdown, and then Trump opens his mouth and takes the full blame. Keep it up Donnie!!!
6
capz1121 Mar 23, 2026 +4
Schumer and Jeffries will be on any minute now telling us why they’ll have to “cave to save” America.
4
rafits Mar 23, 2026 +4
Yeah he gonna lose this one
4
purplebrown_updown Mar 23, 2026 +4
so tying something completely unconstitutional (getting rid of mail in voting) to funding TSA. Schumer better play hardball. All this chaos is seen as Trump's doing right now and it will continue. He doesn't know how to govern.
4
justinkasereddditor Mar 23, 2026 +3
Please dont approve the save america act we will be so fucked
3
rsmith72976 Mar 23, 2026 +4
Excellent! Greatest gift Dems could get from Trump! Hang this around trumps neck at midterms and squeeze him and every maga traitor till they Kirk!
4
holbourn Mar 23, 2026 +4
Oh no - please don’t cave dems! We cannot give away voting rights these cannot be negotiated. Remember TACO
4
reddit_understoodit Mar 23, 2026 +4
He is running scared!
4
ImOldGregg_77 Mar 23, 2026 +5
Both houses have the ability to pass a veto proof bill bypassing the president if they work together.
5
ImpressiveMethod8624 Mar 23, 2026 +5
Democrats need to start calling it the save trump from prison act. Loudly
5
Jumpy_Fly_1975 Mar 23, 2026 +4
All that to blame Democrats for everything.
4
DrRealName Mar 23, 2026 +5
Ok cool. Republicans essentially are neutering themselves for the next three years. I don't want them to get anything they want so yeah. Keep it shut down forever for all I care.
5
ferrets4ever Mar 23, 2026 +4
I think it should be called the SAVE Pedophiles Act as it’s clearly designed to steal the midterms.
4
HausuGeist Mar 23, 2026 +4
We need freedom more than vacations.
4
mrhooha Mar 23, 2026 +4
F*** this! Leave it shutdown. Everyone knows the “save act” is just a GOP power grab.
4
Hillbilly_Boozer Mar 23, 2026 +4
'Support this Act that will forever hand power over to us or you won't have a shutdown deal, and while it will be our fault, we'll blame it on you even though that's what we'ddo anyway.' -Republicans
4
villalulaesi Mar 23, 2026 +4
If dems cave on this, there is no point to any of them being in office.
4
DrusTheAxe Mar 23, 2026 +4
No SAVE Act until impeachment and conviction See? 2 can play at this game
4
trystanthorne Mar 23, 2026 +3
The SAVE is basically designed to prevent the Dems from ever having any power in Washington again. They would be fools to cave on this.
3
nerdomaly Mar 23, 2026 +4
This has to be the line in the sand. The Dems absolutely cannot cave on this and maintain any believablity that they are a strong party. Give this up and it's game over.
4
spondgbob Mar 23, 2026 +4
Please don’t cave democrats. I hope to god they see the swell in all the special elections
4
Jedi_I_am_not Mar 23, 2026 +3
Don’t you worry Schumer will be on at minute to tell tell us why the dems back down. It will be along the lines of “ I called the president on a Sunday afternoon and you know how he does not take anyone’s call on Sunday afternoon, but I have that kind of friendship with him. I called and said look you tell me what you are thinking and he told he planning on saving America. So of course I believed him “
3
Yahobo420 Mar 24, 2026 +1
This proves it is not the Democrats keeping the government shut down, he is a buffoon.
1
tapwater86 Mar 24, 2026 +1
If history has taught me anything Schumer will cave on the SAVE act to get a deal for TSA and then no TSA deal will actually happen.
