I hope the airport workers strike nationwide to force his hand, so he'll lose the shutdown stalemate, the SAVE act, and funding for DHS. He's also going to cave on the Iran war, which he should and should've never started, but he's about to rack up so many losses that he may just resign if JD Vance can make him believe he'll get a pardon for the raping children in the files. And as a note - they held the last shutdown until they got gains from the election, and when they caved they got SNAP payments assured for longer than the rest of the government. As many people said at the time, it meant that the next shutdown wouldn't have SNAP as leverage for the GOP - and indeed, there hasn't been a worry that anyone will starve because of missed SNAP this time.

I actually don't think they will cave. The SAVE act could end up hurting them pretty badly so it is in their best interest to fight it as much as they can. I think self preservation wins out over spinelessness in this case.

It’s weird to see the revisionist characterizations and in only a few months… you remember people were going hungry because of the last “stand”? Obviously it was because of the sociopathic Republicans, but if having a “spine” means starving people, then I am glad they chickened out. Their fight should have come long before then, and punishing poor people for their oversights is worse. Check your own privilege while you’re at it. This time, there is none of that though. TSA doesn’t work, oh well. If only they were fighting for more than basic morality for ICE. Also the position on the right is even more insane this time. The only thing they are refusing is to..have ICE follow the law in order to fund the other agencies? It’s absurd to force a shutdown so that ICE can continue to be lawless and that is not a hard point to make.

Standard IDs, like a driver’s license, would not be an acceptable form of ID if this passes. You would need a passport, birth certificate, or similar.

Dems cave is essentially their mantra. Just look at the overwhelming support they got during the last shutdown, only to cave 2 days later. I would not be at all surprised if the Dems say, "fine, we will let the courts shut this down." Establishment dems are very reluctant to take a firm stance on things.

All it's going to take is flight delays and air traffic impacting profits enough for the majority of democrats to get calls from like 5 millionaires, not even billionaires, threatening 'donations' and Schumer and Jeffries will whip enough number of sacrificial lamb voters to pass it.

Easter travel is going to be a mess. Good thing senators don’t have priority in security lines anymore they need to suffer with the rest of us.
