It’s the most honest thing he’s ever said. He’s not looking for a cabinet, he’s looking for an audience. To him, governing is just a residency at a bigger venue.

That’s a very astute observation in all honesty

From the article
President Trump on Friday evening joked that he surrounds himself “with losers” because he “like[s] people who listen to my success” in public remarks at a Saudi-backed investment conference.
I don't think he was joking. Frigging dip shit

He definitely wasn't. Although I have to admit that's a very logical thing to say, for once. "When I surround myself with people I think are generally worse off, I don't feel so bad." I mean, sure.

I mean, yeah, there's a reason why
>"I used to be on TV you know"
>"Of course grandpa, now let's get you to bed."
is such a cliche exchange. It's just that usually the care home volunteers aren't the entire United States government.

>“I always like to hang around losers actually because it makes me feel better,” he continued. “I hate guys that are very, very successful and you have to listen to their success stories. I like people that like to listen to my success.”
is he saying that those in the White House are losers?

Yes. They are losers, but any successes that do have while on his team, are in fact his successes, not theirs.

Although I am still surprised, there is a part of me that is truly not shocked by it. I think how everything went down during covid, how people behave, it gave us all insight on just how ignorant people can really be.
So to me, it is believable only because I've realized just how many people out there that are truly intellectually deficient and truly evil to the core. It also has shown the US really does not have sufficient mechanisms in place to properly hold people accountable that wish to trample on the constitution and the mechanisms of government.

Don’t worry, given enough time it’ll happen across the pond too.
Democracy is wonderful, but the price we pay for it is eventually someone who has no business being in office will convince enough people otherwise.

It’s the most on brand thing he’s ever said. Most politicians try to pretend they're humble servants of the people, but he’s basically just admitted that the Presidency is a giant residency at a gold plated arena. He’s not looking for a cabinet, he’s looking for a fan club.
