This is officially the Trump shut down as he has rejected not one, but multiple bipartisan bills that would end the shut down

Was the Trump border too when he got republicans to kill the bipartisan Biden bill. They blamed it on Harris anyways even though she was raising billions to address root cause issues of migration. Shame about her laugh /s

And saved the Dems from their leadership that caved again.

iuieioiai Mar 28, 2026 +1
Dems got zero and agreed to give up their leverage is a “win” apparently
1
Lithaos111 Mar 28, 2026 +1
What? They literally got what they wanted. Clean bill for funding TSA and Border Control but no money to ICE and no SAVE act pass.
1
TimeProfessional7120 Mar 27, 2026 +59
He owns this mess now.

Patarokun Mar 27, 2026 +12
I'm sure he'll feel that suffering as he waits in a 3 hour TSA line.
12
beadzy Mar 27, 2026 +6
only if his dementia got bad enough that he demanded to fly commercial airlines

Cmon now, he's never flown commercial in his life. Spoiled ass b****

Miserable_Pie_8337 Mar 27, 2026 +31
Trump is 100% to blame for the chaos at our airports & for government workers not getting paid... remember that when you stand in line for 9 hours.
31
MegaPlane2 Mar 28, 2026 +1
They want the TSA to collapse and be converted to private. It's in their little nazi play book.
1
Acceptable-Bus-2017 Mar 28, 2026 +1
Hasn't this been true for every shutdown in the last 11 years?
1
raleighfsufan Mar 28, 2026 +24
Trump has no idea on how to negotiate. He just barks orders with no thought or plan and when the world rejects he he pouts and keeps the country shut down just because he is a lousy negotiator to go along with being a lousy businessman. I have enjoyed watching his DJT stock drop from $66 to $8.50. Looking like another bankruptcy
24
Annwn45 Mar 28, 2026 +1
His plan is to inflict as much suffering as possible til it can’t be taken anymore so people will cave and give him what he wants.
1
LADataJunkie Mar 28, 2026 +1
And the Democrats will gladly cave in when it gets to that point.

He really needs the voter suppressed. Has too. Otherwise the Republicans will be absolutely destroyed. Hold the line. Having your vote >>> flying.

Holy shit Coma Trump was awake long enough to make a decision. Unfortunately it was still dumb as f***.
10
ProdoRock Mar 28, 2026 +9
Of course. He wants funding for his paramilitary.

5minArgument Mar 28, 2026 +7
His gross mismanagement is so painfully gross. Yet supporters all insist he is a brilliant president .

Doubtful 2/3 of house would override despite unanimous senate passage. Also doubt even senate would get the same 100 votes if it were to override a veto
1
Worth-Tank336 Mar 28, 2026 +4
Kind of insane...he gets a small win. Then Republicans pass ICE funding with reconciliation.
4
Tart-Pomgranate5743 Mar 28, 2026 +5
Trump only wants TSA funded as a win for him… rejecting the Senate bill, encouraging the House GOP to hold out until his god-awful SAVE Act passes, then signing an EO to use funds from ICE to pay TSA agents? All about the optics for himself, not even his puppet of a party…
5
MurderBeans Mar 28, 2026 +1
He doesn't want it funded at all, they want to replace it with a private contractor.
1
mrgraff Mar 28, 2026 +1
Because it doesn’t include money for ICE? What happened to the eleventy-trillion from the BBB?
1
throwaway_ghast Mar 27, 2026 +7
>“Well, it wasn’t good. It wasn’t appropriate. Now what they should do is they should terminate the filibuster,” he told the outlet’s Jacqui Heinrich. Something tells me the Senate will "magically" come to a deal before ever letting the filibuster die.
7
JoanOfSnark_2 Mar 28, 2026 +8
It's the House that needs to come to a deal now.

Reagan did stuff like this during his whole presidency. Shut down the government or create a recession so he could “cure” it or make ordinary people pay extraordinary out of pocket costs solely for the benefit of the rich. And he was praised for it by the WM-dominated press. It was extraordinary how he was praised. Now Trump (who, like Reagan used to be, is a cult figure) does it and everybody hates it. Why is that? Because people have changed. Everybody’s too poor to want to fund rich people’s lifestyles anymore. People are too unhealthy to want to forgo medical insurance. Women, people of color, gay people and other minorities get fucked over every day by white men who regard them as inferior and take opportunity (money) away from them and insult them because of the way they were born. Yet Trump and the Republicans keep acting like it’s still the 1980s. The ‘80s was a different time in which people were more “traditional” (provided more free or low-paid labor to the white man). Not anymore. We’ve got the willpower to kick him and the GOP out from here to eternity, let’s put it into action.

If Johnson put the Senate bill up for a vote under a suspension of House rules, it might get enough votes to pass.

Separate branches of government for a reason.

crossdtherubicon Mar 28, 2026 +1
It's not Trump's job, and is actually unconstitutional, to conduct Congress business. However, I don't blame Trump for trying... I blame Congress for allowing it, and subverting their responsibilities and duties, and for continuing to be derelict in upholding the constitution.
1
Junior_Doubleday Mar 27, 2026 -1
He doesn't get a vote.
-1
km89 Mar 27, 2026 +12
He literally does, though, which is the frustrating part. If it's passed, he can veto it. Even odds on whether he does because it's not winning-y enough for him, or he does not and puts up some bullshit about the Republicans convincing the Democrats to fund the rest of the department.

If the Senate wants it passed they need to follow Trump's requirements and stop making this about politics
1
ThaiJohnnyDepp Mar 28, 2026 +1
Or ... they could make it about the Constitution, stick to their guns to get the right people paid and Trump can give up on his feeble attempt to suppress the vote.
