Trump says he has "no problem" with Russian tanker bringing oil to Cuba despite blockade
When asked if a New York Times report that the tanker would be allowed to reach Cuba was true, Mr. Trump said: "If a country wants to send some oil into Cuba right now, I have no problem whether it's Russia or not."

Supreme logic: prevent Mexico, an ally, from helping Cuba, but let Russia, the "enemy", help
744
JKorv Mar 30, 2026 +405
Nah. To Trump Russia is an ally and Mexico is the enemy
405
BeingHonestWithYou Mar 30, 2026 +138
This is so obvious. It baffles me that people are still questioning this

But Russia is helping Iran. So nothing makes sense anymore

Trump views Russia as an ally, not as an adversary. In the Ukraine war, he has put enormous effort into trying to paint Ukraine as the aggressor and the problem, and Russia as the victims trying to be reasonable
33
Facktat Mar 30, 2026 +19
Trump made it pretty clear that he considers Russia the only real ally of the US and NATO it‘s enemy.
19
Chessh2036 Mar 30, 2026 +37
Trump considers Russia an ally and Putin a dear friend.
37
Kinenai Mar 30, 2026 +15
Yeah but this way daddy Putin can e***** the tanker with nuclear submarines just like in the 60s. SMRT.
15
unusedusername666 Mar 30, 2026 +17
Look, I have no problem with a Russian tanker bringing oil, okay? People hear “oil,” they panic. I say, what kind of oil are we talking about? Olive oil, very healthy. Canola oil, also very popular. People are cooking, they’re sautéing, they’re doing tremendous things in the kitchen. And if it’s going to Cuba—Cuba Gooding Jr., by the way, great actor, fantastic energy—if he needs oil, you let him have the oil. You don’t stop a great American talent from getting his olive oil. That would be ridiculous, frankly. So no problem. Let the tanker come in, let the oil flow—preferably extra virgin, the best kind. Everybody wins.

Does Mexico have oil though? Serious question. Is the reason the US hasn't taken over Mexico because they don't have natural resources the US can exploit? Or do they give the US their resources at a discounted rate? Because to me (Aussie) it seems like every war the US has ever waged was because that other country has oil. And they want a regime that contracts their natural resources for a lower rate than the current.
3
Blofish1 Mar 30, 2026 +12
Mexico is a very big oil producer
12
Rhymeswithfire Mar 30, 2026
Thank you, I didn't know that. It's strange to me Trump isn't waging war on his closest neighbour though. What are your thoughts on that? I did a cursory google search (probably wrong?) that said Mexico doesn't have nuclear weapons. So what's the deal? Is this America's main source of oil/c**** oil everyone keeps talking about? How America isn't affected by the Hormuz straight oil tankers not being able to pass?
0
Blofish1 Mar 30, 2026 +2
America is the number one producer of oil in the world. The US both imports and exports different types of oil so it's not so cut and dried. IIRC the US imports from both Mexico and Saudi Arabia but could weather being cut off from MidEast oil better than most countries. Of course, even with American production, the US economy is greatly affected by the price of oil in the world. If oil hits $110 dollars a barrel than that's what American consumers are going to pay no matter where the oil is produced.

Check out the overall trade numbers across all products and services with Iran as compared to Brazil and Mexico. It’s very simple answer.
0
HumansHaveSoles Mar 30, 2026 +1
I legitimately can't tell if you're deliberately pretending to be naive to troll, or cannot comprehend that your assumption("US only attacks countries that have oil to buy it at a lower rate") is wrong.
1
TheAngryGoat Mar 30, 2026 +7
> to me (Aussie) it seems like every war the US has ever waged was because that other country has oil That's a gross and unfair oversimplification. This latest one for example was to distract from the Trump/Epstein files.
7
GeekDNA0918 Mar 30, 2026 +3
Very big oil deposits in Mexico.
3
lnth1 Mar 30, 2026 +1
>every war the US has ever waged was because that other country has oil Not sure if the US was the one who "waged" the Vietnam war. But no, our country (VN) did not have oil

Logic: Trump is also the enemy
1
ex0e Mar 30, 2026 +1
Mexico successfully sent humanitarian aid to Cuba via military ships. Either Trump is afraid of Mexico or he is in love with Russia, after removing Russia's main overseas allies.
1
Enitnatsnoc Mar 30, 2026 -6
It's not about permission. It's just that the Russian Federation had the courage to send humanitarian aid to Cuba even at the risk of losing a tanker, but Mexico refused to carry out such actions. They preferred to listen to the instructions, although they verbally stated their opposition to such a policy.
-6
Free-Way-9220 Mar 30, 2026 +6
Of course its about permission. What do you think a "total pressure embargo" means. Trump relentlessly seeks vladimir Putin's approval and validation. Putin gets a free pass
6
Enitnatsnoc Mar 30, 2026 +1
It's about listening to Daddy Trump, and kissing his ass. There are simply no balls to send a tanker with humanitarian aid. Take that risk and see what happens.

They do have loads of material. Just not known if specifically from Epstein sources. >... that Trump was vulnerable to blackmail from Russian authorities[76][237] for paying bribes and engaging in unorthodox and embarrassing sexual behavior over the years,[141][245][248] and that the authorities were "able to blackmail him if they so wished".[141][245][248][249] (Reports 80, 95, 97, 113) >... that the Kremlin had promised Trump they would not use the kompromat collected against him "as leverage, given high levels of voluntary co-operation forthcoming from his team".[237][250] (Report 97) >... that Trump had explored the real estate sectors in St. Petersburg and Moscow, "but in the end TRUMP had had to settle for the use of extensive sexual services there from local prostitutes rather than business success".[246][247] (Report 95) >... that witnesses to his "sex parties in the city" had been "'silenced' i.e. bribed or coerced to disappear."[246][247] (Report 113) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steele_dossier

Trump is a bloated, sick old man who was never very bright to begin with. His brain is essentially oatmeal now. Has no more power to stop Bibi or Vlad from doing a damn thing.
19
Firstnaymlastnaym Mar 30, 2026 +14
He's 100% completely unqualified to be president of f****** anything whatsoever. It will be extremely hard for me to forgive the people that put him in the White House after everything. Those people are dangerously stupid and/or ignorant and I wouldn't trust them to choose their favorite color. It's genuinely f****** INSANE the timeline we are living in.

7

If it wasn't crystal clear before.. The US is Russian owned
7
tazmanic Mar 30, 2026 +8
I’m not American so please forgive me if I’m drawing lines incorrectly here or have my history wrong but wasn’t the whole “Cuban Missile Crisis” a big scare because Russians could set up a base there which was dangerously close to the US? It was the closest we got to World War 3 during the Cold War. Now Trump is freely allowing Russian presence there and opening up that threat again. Time and time again, Trump has shown he’s a traitor to the US. Its honestly surprising to me this clown hasn’t been overthrown yet
8
Bet-looking-Cat Mar 30, 2026 +1
This Russian tanker can bring iranian-type drones capable of flying 1000 km, as we can see. What if Cuba decides to attack the U.S. with them? What if Russia decides so?

I’m surprised no one in the West hasn’t given Ukraine a submarine to let them blow up Russian tankers. It would end the war and Putin’s reign real quick.

Stop blaming a senile old man and start blaming those who elected him and those who still support him. Without his followers and an obedient congress he has no power.  Instead of "Trump says..." the title should read "Endorsed by the majority of the american Congress and a large part of the population, Trups says..."

As an American who remembers the Cuban missile crisis; I think it would behoove the U.S. to allow it but to check the cargo first. Russia is in a desperate spot right now with the prosecution of its ports by Ukraine and the fall of Syria and perhaps eventually of the IRGC alongside sanctions. Putin loves to repeat history.

Let me get something straight, there never was a blockade, there was an embargo, which are different. USA simply refused to trade with any company trading with Cuba. I work for a tanker company and remember some Cuba embargo checks US was doing when arriving in the USA. Chinese and Russian companies were always welcome to trade with Cuba, that’s why the only new car you can buy there is Lada.

Sadly, the world(particularly third-world countries) will have to put their hopes on Putin to help alleviate some of Trump's excesses. Such as the blockade of Cuba.

So are we supposed to act shocked by the end of the week when it comes out that Don took a personal bribe from Putin to let Russia sell oil to Cuba? Then watch every single person capable of doing something about this literal crime do nothing about it except "Slam" Old Donnie Diapers on Social Media? I'm really tired of this cycle of blatant soulless corruption followed by ineptitude and performative opposition.
