Because their situation doesn’t improve through continued fighting. The US is bombing the shit out of them.
Cease fire legitimizes their regime. The US would be walking alway with nothing.
The idea that the US is going to cede control of the straight and pay back reparations is listnookor fantasy.
The US can’t knock out the regime. But it can indefinitely make their economy collapse and continue to kill senior leadership.

Trump just needs to stall for a bit longer for his troops to arrive, since he forgot to position them prior to the war. He needs the markets to be calm and let him cook. He needs to be able to escalate this into a ground war without allowing the American people time to ack that and respond in time to stop it, and he does this the way he does everything else: lie, lie, lie.
Once we are on the ground, we're looking at a very long engagement and Trump gaining war powers for a long time, and every MAGA yelling at us that we have to "support the troops no matter what." He just needs to get across that finish line and have people lie and run interference for him.
And when it is done and we all see that he lied, we'll be told it was a necessary deception to "surprise" the enemy.

“Iran asked for a ceasefire” means “Iran doesn’t want a ceasefire after we asked them”.

Let me get this straight (pun intended):
Step 1 - Start an unprovoked war against a major oil producing country that controls a major oil transport lane.
Step 2 - They close that strait in retaliation (obviously)
Step 3 - We get them to re-open the strait that only closed because we attacked
