Didn't Trump say the pause in bombings/ceasefire, whatever they are calling it now, would go on only as long has serious negotiations are going on?
If negotiations are not going on does that mean the bombing is back on? I don't see how Trump gets out of this without either capitulating in a major way and taking the humiliation or escalating and making good on his threat to target dual use (civilian) infrastructure.
The stock market seems to think this is all about to be over, it'll nosedive if it isn't since escalation would be disastrous for the global economy

Well first it was a 2 week ceasefire. Then before that ended he extended it. Then threatened them again. Now he’s stonewalling but not really, because his negotiation is like:
Iran: what’s wrong?
Trump: *nothing*, God!
Iran: want to talk?
Trump: No!

I wouldn't bet on the Ayatollah actually. The latest rumor is he is waiting for a prosthetic leg and plastic surgery. He needed multiple lifesaving surgeries that he's still recovering from.
edit: lol lifesaving injuries, I should go to bed

I still think Trump would be the worst in terms of mental, mobility and stamina. They could each turn up in a modified wheelchair but I see only the Ayatollah doing so.

So, I think such duels with proxies, not the leaders themselves, have some merit. Volunteers are plentiful, most won't believe they'll lose, you just have to select the best among them to represent you. If it's actually replacing warfare, it's an ethical improvement despite being to the death, you've successfully limited the casualties to at most two combatants and no civilians.
The real reason it won't work is that most world leaders won't abide by the results, if proper honor or at least sportsmanship can't be relied on then there's really no point, you're just killing someone and doing what you were going to do anyways.

Was always curious about this in history. If Hector had beaten Achilles would the ‘Greeks’ really have packed up and gone home? What’s the benefit here for the larger or better army to engage in duels?

There's no point in bombings if Iran isn't restarting the fighting and all the major military targets that were out in the open have been hit.
At this point, the blockade is doing 100x more damage than any bombing campaign could.

He's counting on Americans and our famously short attention spans getting bored and forgetting about it. And he's probably right, unfortunately. I'm a few weeks he'll do some new horrible thing and we'll have to just add Iran to the pile.

They’ve been trying to get it to look like the ball is in Iran’s court so hard to make them look indecisive and incompetent- like this is their fault entirely, and the only problem forward is them.

Putin's words having meaning is definitely the take of the century for Listnook. I don't even know where to begin. Whether it be the "denazification" of Ukraine literally the day after saying he won't attack Ukraine...or the repeated threats of nuclear annihilation.

I wonder why there's been a shift away from talks - it seemed Trump pulled the plug right as Vance and co. were headed back to Pakistan (and the Iranian delegation was effectively left twiddling their thumbs). Recent news all suggests that Iran is becoming more desperate to deal. Perhaps that's why: Trump knows he has them under the pump now that there isn't a direct, ongoing military threat for the various factions to rally around the flag with. The blockade is doing the job.
Dunno if effectively saying 'come to my house and beg' is a particularly diplomatic track to take, but Trump does appear to have all the 'cards' right now.

The Americans said tgat they were sending the son in law and real estate negotiator back to Pakistan .
"it seemed Trump pulled the plug right as Vance and co. were headed back to Pakistan (and the Iranian delegation was effectively left twiddling their thumbs). "
The Iranian negotiator in Pakistan said we're only here to talk to Pakistan.
Then Trump said 'we're not going, they can phone ' , and cancelled, to make it look like the Americans canceled it.
After the Iranians said that they're not negotiating until the U.S Navy withdraws , before and during the Iranian visit to Pakistan.
