It's a big enough card that it could be the thing that actually leads to him getting impeached. Either from republicans turning on him in a desperate attempt to not get destroyed in midterms, or a big enough blue wave due to trump f****** everything up so much that democrats get enough of a majority to impeach him

They also have the card that they can destroy oil infrastructure all over the middle east. Both achieve the same goal, higher oil prices / global shortages.

MetalMoneky Apr 11, 2026 +23
I mean having like 20k shaheds you could launch in a 5 minute window would probably achieve the same level of detterence. But if I were the Iranians I'd bet talking to the North Koreans now about striking a deal for a couple warheads.

And more importantly for Iran , intense domestic political pressure on Trump. He made gas-prices his thing.

Don’t forget fertilizer! Food is pretty important, many crops in the northern hemisphere are already planted and yields will be way down with out fertilizer

wswordsmen Apr 11, 2026 +22
The oil infrastructure can be rebuilt, desalination plants will kill millions and basically make the whole ME uninhabitable because your life line is one bombing away from being destroyed.
22
FinndBors Apr 11, 2026 +50
Iranians know that most westerners don’t really care about brown people dying on the other side of the world, but they do care about gas prices and inflation going nuts.

PM_ME_UR_CREDDITCARD Apr 11, 2026 +11
Europe will very much care about the resulting waves of refugees.
11
FinndBors Apr 11, 2026 +13
Europe isn't the one making poor decisions here so there isn't much they can "undo" to prevent this, unfortunately.
13
Texuk1 Apr 11, 2026 +18
Even if desalination plants are not touched oil infrastructure cannot be reconstructed in the time scales relevant to the economic effects of its destruction. *this is the crucial problem* Trump is an actual idiot (which almost everyone who has ever worked directly with him has said) and focuses on the straight, even if it opens to free trade if you can’t load the boats because nothing is working then you have the same problem. We are basically in that limbo period similar to before Covid where no one really understands what’s about to happen. A lot of suffering by people who cannot pay for expensive fuel and fertilizer is about to occur. Trump is speed running the predicted post fossil fuel collapse of civilisation.

Oh that Strait of Hormuz card.... only controlling 20% of the global oil supply... Jesus f****** christ Trump is a f****** idiot.
159
k_realtor Apr 11, 2026 +15
Also the plan B was Trump to basically carpet bomb everything but realised that it would also destroy oil production because oil catches on fire. Also if he did, countries with Nukes will aim that direction because a crazy guy is not following protocol. Why the US Generals aren’t bending over backwards to break engagement rules.

He made them use that card. they weren't asking for toll before the US attacked, now they do.  if they asked for toll before, they would've been coalitioned so bad but now, no one sane can really blame them.
16
Boatster_McBoat Apr 11, 2026 +6
If only someone had known that they had that card so that it could have been factored into the strategic decision-making that went on before the US attacked
6
FinancialReserve6427 Apr 11, 2026 +4
I think he assumed it'll be like Venezuela that if they removed the leadership, the government collapses and he gets a Nobel gifted to him.  at best they tried to paint Hormuz as everyone's problem so they have to pitch in, only to get a cold "no".

Xtort_ Apr 11, 2026 +55
They've got a few cards.  They've got the straight of Hormuz. They've got enough oil infrastructure in their cross hairs that they could wreck energy markets. They could also attack the water desalination plants of the GCC  and smash their economies.  Once that money stops flowing into the US stock market, the AI bubble burst and you have a full on US recession.  They could also get the Houthis to attack tankers coming out of the Red Sea to further squeeze energy prices. Their last card is that their adversary is a massive idiot who should have never been put back into power.  Its gotta be truly delightful watch your enemy consistently make the wrong decisions and dig themselves deeper into a quagmire.

If your only card is an Ace in a high card game, what's the point of mentioning you only have 1 good card. If that 1 good card is enough to get your demands met, I'd say they are winning that exchange. Mind you, they didn't have this Ace card until Trump attacked them. Talk about giving them shit for free.

7
nomad_805 Apr 11, 2026 +6
I think the hardest part for Americans is they are utterly defeated. America has no leverage. Americans will bomb and break things for weeks to come but the result will be the same. Iran controls the Strait and they will dictate who comes and goes. Meanwhile, everyone that was an American ally will rethink its position and not rely on the American military muscle as a deterrent. Trump is done. People can write his political obituary now. We just need to move on to criminal proceedings with him while he’s still alive.
6
TheMightySet69 Apr 11, 2026 +6
For a country with no cards that was defeated in the first hour of operations, they sure know how to drag out a war.
6
KiLLiNDaY Apr 11, 2026 +6
And yet it’s the only card they really need.

grasshopper239 Apr 11, 2026 +4
Trump says Iran has all the cards
4
dkillers303 Apr 11, 2026 +3
Maybe this idiot just doesn’t see the following cards that Iran has on the table? * controls strait of Hormuz, but more broadly energy markets now * has highly enriched uranium * has and can continue destroying oil infra in the ME * is now capable of charging tolls for Hormuz * has demonstrated the effectiveness of their low-cost arsenal * geographic resilience if a ground invasion were to occur * regional influence of Hezbollah, the Houthis I mean, it is fair to say that anyone literate should be able to understand that the US has completely fucked everything up. Hell, there’s nothing that we can even point to in history that is even remotely similar. Trump has two options: he can accept failure or continue escalating further for an even bigger defeat.
3
Kumomi_Kid Apr 11, 2026 +4
Remember when he said Zelensky held “no cards” dude is still smoking the Russians to this day. Trump is a used cars salesman’s who pitches his ideas and thoughts using this same keywords and references

PrefersEarlGrey Apr 11, 2026 +3
Pretty big card if you ask me. A magical raise gas prices worldwide by $2 card that only cost a few drones to enact. Friendly reminder none of this had to happen, but Kamala had a weird laugh and she wasn't hard enough on Israel so here we are.

KerryWood34 Apr 11, 2026 +3
They've got a strait flush while we've got a high King. I'm no world p**** tour announcer, but them odds are pretty one sided.
3
Specialist-Garbage94 Apr 11, 2026 +3
That feels like the entire deck
3
AnOkayTime5230 Apr 11, 2026 +3
They have no cards beyond the one big card they have!!
3
1badh0mbre Apr 11, 2026 +3
Sounds like they have the winning hand.
3
raerae1991 Apr 11, 2026 +3
Trump didn’t think Ukraine had any card either, and they haven’t folded either
3
jacksaff Apr 11, 2026 +3
What do you mean? They are holding a straight.
3
nthpwr Apr 11, 2026 +3
...that is the game winning card
3
JerHat Apr 11, 2026 +3
It’s a pretty dang effective card, bro.
3
Basketseeksdog Apr 11, 2026 +3
Stop with the cards already!
3
King_Fisher99 Apr 11, 2026 +3
Again with the fucken cards. Peedo
3
J0E_SpRaY Apr 11, 2026 +3
That’s a big fuckin card
3
Adventurous-Jump-370 Apr 11, 2026 +3
So apart pretty much been able to bring Western civilisation to it knees they have nothing. Well done Mr Trump.
3
shiokuo Apr 11, 2026 +3
The best card that any trump opponent has is Trump coz he always chickens out
3
Kauri1 Apr 11, 2026 +3
Possibly true but it’s a fairly good one and is maybe a Trump card.
3
borderless_olive Apr 11, 2026 +3
My idiot in christ, these are the only cards that matter here. Holy f***...
3
Acceptable_Taste9818 Apr 11, 2026 +3
The Hormuz card is why no president in 50 years went this far. That’s it, the Hormuz shit was that formidable. I’m honestly worried everything is going to permanently inflate up to 3 maybe 4 percent. And Trump meanwhile will declare the straight “partially opened” and say f*** it. I think that’s what these negotiations are going to boil down to- how much throttling/limits will you put on the channel.
3
Secret_Account07 Apr 11, 2026 +3
It’s a big f****** card. Its cost billions and billions and billions and…
3
-HealingNoises- Apr 11, 2026 +3
That's like saying "you have no cards other than the gun switch to the explosives in my house" it's a pretty effective card.
3
voyagerdoge Apr 11, 2026 +3
The truth is, Trump has no cards. He lost the war.
3
Floyd_Pink Apr 11, 2026 +3
And what cards does the US hold, exactly?!
3
zekoslav90 Apr 11, 2026 +3
Only time in history that a single card results in a strait flush.
3
Davosz_ Apr 11, 2026 +3
No cards except the "destroy the world economy" card... Goddamn it America... why the f*** did you let this guy back into office?
3
Ok_Wall_8267 Apr 11, 2026 +3
Says the man who holds no cards
3
wsrs25 Apr 11, 2026 +3
Trump also thought we defeated and “destroyed” Iran within hours of the first attack. That was five weeks ago. The only thing that exceeds Trump’s stupidity is his legendary awful judgment.
3
jmens14 Apr 11, 2026 +3
The emperor truly has no clothes
3
JazzRider Apr 11, 2026 +3
That’s one pretty big card. It amazes me that the instigators of this tragedy didn’t see that one coming.
3
Evil_phd Apr 11, 2026 +3
It's a really strong card, it seems, considering the US is backing down every 15 minutes to 24 hours.
3
Utterlybored Apr 11, 2026 +3
So, Iran’s only card is having a complete chokehold on the global economy? That’s all?
3
OverallElephant7576 Apr 11, 2026 +3
Seems like until he has Hormuz, Trump has no cards
3
Xivvx Apr 11, 2026 +3
They have a very defensible position for their country and no one likes Trump enough to help. Those seem like good cards.
3
Artistic_Buffalo_715 Apr 11, 2026 +3
That's a pretty f****** significant card, you geriatric f***
3
DaMongooseJooce Apr 11, 2026 +3
So many people DO NOT understand that this is going to also directly cause food shortages and famine in the US due to lack of fertilizer shipments. I guess the preppers were right all along.
3
Certain_Librarian373 Apr 11, 2026 +3
Why does Trump think he’s always playing cards
3
smiama36 Apr 11, 2026 +3
Strait was open. Trump bombs. Strait closed. Trump gives Iran frozen assets and lifts sanctions on their oil to get Iran to agree to reopen the Strait. USA gets nothing. Trump claims victory. Do I have that just about right?
3
BarelyAirborne Apr 11, 2026 +3
So they just hold all the aces. Gotchsa, chiefie. So glad this man is my commander in chief, he's right on top of things. Sharp as a bowling ball.
3
New_Junket4211 Apr 11, 2026 +3
Except Hormuz is their trump card and they can play it all day long and as long as Trump is still around.
3
Nomaddad55 Apr 11, 2026 +3
Iran can keep the strait closed and cause a worldwide economic catastrophe. Seems like they’re playing “P****” and Trump is playing “Go Fish”
3
kinkinhood Apr 11, 2026 +3
That control is a very strong card
3
Ok_Pomegranate_5748 Apr 11, 2026 +3
That’s a pretty big card.
3
Ferrocile Apr 11, 2026 +3
It’s a pretty good card…
3
CertainHeart2890 Apr 11, 2026 +3
Seems like that's the only card they need, Donpedo
3
AdhesivenessCivil581 Apr 11, 2026 +3
So 4 aces but no other cards.
3
xyloplax Apr 11, 2026 +3
They currently have a strait
3
WastingTimeIGuess Apr 11, 2026 +3
Wasn't it 2 years ago he told Zelensky he had "no cards," and Ukraine has since killed hundreds of thousands of Russian soldiers and basically held Russia to a standstill? I don't think Trump is a good card player.
