It’s important for the world to understand that Trump is a GLOBAL THREAT

Iran is also a global threat. But in this case the moron who stirs up a hornet's nest with absolutely no plan whatsoever is the bigger threat. Or maybe there was a plan considering how much and how perfectly Russia has benefited from this in terms of both oil prices and the US' increasing isolation from its closest allies - it's just definitely not the bumbling idiot's plan.

dynosia Apr 17, 2026 +23
Iran isn't a global threat. The world is much bigger than the US and Israel. The US has done far more damage to the world than Iran ever could.

jugglerofcats Apr 17, 2026 -10
Yeah the country that attacked all its neighbours within range (Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, etc.), shut down oil shipping routes and attacked oil pipelines on land to the point where most of the globe is now struggling to meet its energy needs doesn't qualify as global threat. Also their decades of "Death to the west" ideology, funding of terrorist attacks across Europe and alliance with Al Qaeda were all done in jest.

That‘s a foolish stance. 90 % of your argument just disappears as soon as we acknowledge that all of this happened **after** the US and Israel started their war. The let‘s go into the remaining 10 % hypocrisy. North Korea regularly threatened the West in the same way. Did something happen to them that I‘m not aware of? No, because they actually have the bomb. Al Qaeda was also funded by Saudi Arabian extremist supporters. Did the West, namely the US, ever do something against them or Saudi Arabia? No, because in geopolitics we weigh the same principles on different scales depending on **who** violated it. So, all your moral and ethic arguments are out of place to begin with - simply based on the regular modus operandi in geopolitics. At its core those are just convenient talking points to get people like you to support their **war of aggression**. It’s propaganda, our propaganda, but still propaganda.  Every expert in geopolitics under the sun agreed that attacking Iran is a bad idea because no one would benefit from an increased instability in that region. And? Their evaluations were spot on.

>as soon as we acknowledge that all of this happened **~~after~~** **because** the US and Israel started their war. FTFY.

The pope already knows the Trump administration is a global threat.

pixeltackle Apr 17, 2026 +65
Anyone else looking forward to Vance standing barefoot in the snow outside the Pope’s castle for three days, begging forgiveness?
65
Winter_Body4794 Apr 17, 2026 +32
I'd settle for excommunication
32
BobcatOk7492 Apr 17, 2026 +13
Hes killed one pope already....
13
Manos_Of_Fate Apr 17, 2026 +4
I think this new Pope can take him
4
SlumdogSkillionaire Apr 17, 2026 +5
Excommunication only works as a punishment for people who actually value church membership.
5
Hikingcanuck92 Apr 17, 2026 +3
I learned today from my Catholic coworker that excommunication is still pretty darn common. It’s totally possible haha.
3
_nepunepu Apr 17, 2026 +2
Of course. I am baptized and confirmed Catholic and also a schismatic, because I now attend a church that is not in communion with Rome. I have been excommunicated automatically from the Catholic Church.
2
Tyran_Mysz Apr 17, 2026 +4
How did the Catholic Church find out you were attending other services?
4
_nepunepu Apr 17, 2026 +3
Latae sententiae excommunication is based on the act itself, not the Catholic Church’s knowledge of it. I am of sound mind, I know what the penalty is and I committed schism. Therefore I am excommunicated. It does need all these conditions to be true to take effect, so it’s not like people get automatically excommunicated all the time for trifles. You have to know it happens if you do the thing for it to happen. If I cared enough to return one day, conscience would dictate that I be honest and ask for the excommunication to be lifted before returning to communion and partaking in the Catholic sacraments. After all, that’s what true repentance would require.
3
Tyran_Mysz Apr 17, 2026 +3
Curious because I asked the local archdiocese to excommunicate me and they refused.
3
HeftyArgument Apr 17, 2026 +1
probably didn't think you were worth the pomp and paperwork
1
Mrfish31 Apr 17, 2026 +1
It's very easy to get automatically excommunicated. If you materially support an abortion for example (so even just donating to a fund), IIRC that it grounds that you are automatically out of the church.
1
Objective-Clue5087 Apr 17, 2026 +1
They all sure act as if they don’t really believe in Christianity. Excommunication will mean nothing to them.

_nepunepu Apr 17, 2026 +8
I’m late on this tomfoolery, but I just heard of the conference at which JD Vance warned the Pope to be careful when speaking about theology. Dude, it’s the Pope’s job to talk about theology. It’s a pretty ballsy for some convert to « warn » the Pope about doctrinal errors. Apparently he hasn’t heard of religious submission of intellect and will. Hopefully that came out at confession.

TraditionalAppeal23 Apr 17, 2026 +31
I feel like there's a bit of a streisand effect going on here and the best tactic for Trump would've been to ignore the pope rather than beefing with him.
31
EatinSumGrapes Apr 17, 2026 +29
Trump cannot brush anything off, he just can't. Public figures absolutely need to have thick skin, people will threaten to kill you if you suck at a game online... if you're famous people *will* harass you whether you are perfect or terrible. The shocking part is Trump is the most pathetic childish adult on the planet but the "tough crowd conservatives" love him. Makes sense though, every bully's ego is fragile.
29
TraditionalAppeal23 Apr 17, 2026 +8
Yeah I mean I feel like a lot of people might've chalked it up to a relatively liberal pope and eventually forgotten about it and moved on to the next thing in the media cycle, but I think him beefing with the pope just seems disrespectful to a lot of catholics and is just giving the pope's comments more media time
8
ApesAPoppin237 Apr 17, 2026 +1
I never thought we'd see Trump do something disrespectful either, but first time for everything I guess.
1
ketimmer Apr 17, 2026 +9
That's true. By highlighting what the Pope said and broadcasting it everywhere he is forcing the billions of people worldwide to chose either him or their faith.
9
LiquidPuzzle Apr 17, 2026 +1
Right, like he isn't gaining any followers and by forcing to chose, he can only lose support while hemorrhaging the anti-war crowd.
1
skibbin Apr 17, 2026 +3
The world makes a lot more sense when you realize Trump treats everybody like an employee he can fire
3
Brilliant-Emphasis43 Apr 17, 2026 +1
Yes.  I feel like he really should keep feuding with the Pope all year.
1
Moist-Fortune6277 Apr 17, 2026 +65
I think the US is the global threat.
65
BlipBlapBloppityBoop Apr 17, 2026 +16
It’s not a one or the other dichotomy. Iran’s regime is awful and evil. But by all real measures, the U.S. is the greater threat to the world and humanity.
16
FedBySheep Apr 17, 2026
> But by all real measures, the U.S. is the greater threat to the world and humanity. Tell that to 30,000+ dead protestors Curious what 'real measures' you're on about.

National-Charity-435 Apr 17, 2026 +11
Except hegseth said Iran's nuclear facilities were completely obliterated...not even a year ago.
11
Suspicious-Bid-53 Apr 17, 2026 +58
Pope hasn’t threatened to annex my country, penalized Ukraine, pretended to invade Iran over killing of protesters only to then say he’d bomb their civilization out of existence… fuckin covid…. Ah god dammit I’m tired boss
58
BlipBlapBloppityBoop Apr 17, 2026 +3
Right? Just please f*** off. Don’t come here anymore. Just leave us alone.
3
HotPotatoWithCheese Apr 17, 2026 +8
Yeah, just like Iraq was a "global threat" in 2003. Most people now see through the blatant lies of the United States military industrial complex. Iran is a threat to world peace, they have/will have weapons of mass destruction, the people need to be liberated from a terrible regime etc. Trump is reading off the same script that George Bush Jr was given 23 years ago.
8
Gecks777 Apr 17, 2026 +6
"Sir, a fairly significant portion of your base is abandoning you because you keep insulting the Pope for some reason...". "Say no more, I hear you. I'll just do it 40 or 50 more times, then I'll stop for sure."
6
I_Got_A_Truck Apr 17, 2026 +5
Bruh, you're the threat.
5
dimwalker Apr 17, 2026 +6
As important as for trump to understand russia is a global threat.
6
jvo203 Apr 17, 2026 +4
It is important for Trump to understand he (Trump) is a global threat.
4
Most-Artichoke6184 Apr 17, 2026 +4
The dope literally said today that the pope wants Iran to have nuclear weapons lol
4
Araminal Apr 17, 2026 +2
His M.O. has always been to attack any person/group/organisation who disputes what he says. He was 'mentored' by a currupt lawyer starting in the early 1970s, and he's done it ever since.
2
Most-Artichoke6184 Apr 17, 2026 +2
Roy Cohn.
2
Melodic_Crow_3409 Apr 17, 2026 +7
So is Trump.
7
EatinSumGrapes Apr 17, 2026 +3
Like it's the pope's job to call for peace and no war, even if the pope personally believes Iran is a global threat, it is still his job to preach the bible... sigh
3
SuperAzn727 Apr 17, 2026 +3
I think he would know best, seeing as he himself is also a global threat 🤔 🙃
3
tecdaz Apr 17, 2026 +3
Pretty sure what Dump thinks the Pope should understand is irrelevant to the Pope
3
forcedfx Apr 17, 2026 +3
Maybe bombing the Vatican would work?
3
MRflibbertygibbets Apr 17, 2026 +2
They would but there’s no oil
2
macross1984 Apr 17, 2026 +3
Iran is a threat but I feel Trump is greater threat to the world.
3
DoxDoflamingo2 Apr 17, 2026 +8
Countries that have been threatened/attacked by the US in 1 year of Trump's new administration: * Venezuela (Attacked already) * Iran (Attacked already) * Cuba (Inhuman blockade, is next) * Mexico * Canada * Greenland * Colombia * Brazil Countries that have been threatened/attacked by Iran since 2025: \- Who did he say was the global threat?
8
footfeed Apr 17, 2026 +4
So is Trump, tenfold.
4
papaHans Apr 17, 2026 +4
I would say as Trump at the helm, United States is the global threat.
4
FourthLvlSpicyMeme Apr 17, 2026 +2
I long for the days when half the things I read don't begin with "Trump says..." for literally anything at all. It's f****** endless, and it is exhausting. I am so f****** tired. We have to figure out if the deranged nutbag is playing with the nuclear football via social media and toilet tweets, for fucks sake. I am waiting for a specific headline, then I hope to never have to pay serious attention to that name in the news again.
2
LuckyWriter1292 Apr 17, 2026 +2
Trump is a bigger global threat, when it happens there will be massive celebrations.
2
Manos_Of_Fate Apr 17, 2026 +2
Trying to sell the Pope on war crimes is certainly one of the strategies of all time
2
xSaRgED Apr 17, 2026 +1
Historically speaking… it normally works.
1
wormki Apr 17, 2026 +2
Even a broken clock is right once in a while. Even though the current US administration is arguably the bigger threat, you simply can't ignore the last decades of Iran funding islamic terror around the Globe, mostly in western countries. The extremists must go, no matter what kind of extremist. They're all equally bad for the normal people who struggle from day to day.
2
ronweasleisourking Apr 17, 2026 +2
Donald J Trump is a pedophile, rapist, global threat who has ordered the deaths of hundreds if not thousands of people
2
dope_sheet Apr 17, 2026 +2
Don still has no good reason for why he chose to start this war now. The best explanation for the timing is still the Epstein files.
2
SwitchedOnNow Apr 17, 2026 +2
Don is the global threat. The pope didn't just cause a world energy crisis.
2
No-Tomatillo-7566 Apr 17, 2026 +2
I think the Pope recognizes a "global threat"when he confronts one.
2
JustlookingfromSoCal Apr 17, 2026 +2
Threatening to destroy an entire civilization never to be seen again is a global threat.
2
10Thousand_Hours Apr 17, 2026 +2
Iran was a threat. The war was still absolutely the wrong decision. Both those things can be true.
2
I-figured-it-out Apr 17, 2026 +3
Yep Iran was a threat the hour after the first bombs drops a few weeks ago.
3
Empty_Put_1542 Apr 17, 2026 +1
The Vatican has a military?
1
sparty212 Apr 17, 2026 +1
"But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute...unless they are a global threat, then bomb the shit out of them" -Jesus
1
FamousLoser Apr 17, 2026 +1
It’s important for Trumps orbit to understand that his dementia is a global threat.
1
SvnSqrD Apr 17, 2026 +1
I think Donnie eyes now for Papal position 😂😂
1
xX609s-hartXx Apr 17, 2026 +1
Should he send the Swiss guard to protect the strait? XD
1
thecloakofignorance Apr 17, 2026 +1
Agree, the pope should understand global threats, and sounds like he already has a profound understanding
1
Objective-Clue5087 Apr 17, 2026 +1
Iran isn’t the only country with the ability to create nuclear weapons. At this point, I am just as fearful of crazy man Trump, sneaky Russia, deceitful Pakistan, … who knows what anyone is planning or capable of doing? The US used to have great surveillance teams. I am not sure if any are left. Even with Iran not having nuclear capabilities in Iran, it would be naive to say they won’t be a threat.
1
charlies_brain Apr 17, 2026 +1
Trump is the antichrist
1
Routine_Path_799 Apr 17, 2026 -4
I've always believed that while Trump wouldn't possess the answers to the questions he raises, he nevertheless would be asking very good questions. I think the Pope himself has been asked a very good one (just by opening his mouth) and instead of condemning Trump, perhaps should retreat in prayer and ask himself (and the church)....very truthful & deep questions. Whatever finger being pointed at Trump, perhaps many more are pointing back at the catholic church. There gets a point where "same old, same old" doesn't work and that takes courage and failth not only to recognize it but ALSO to take action.
