Meanwhile, almost all of the wars we (the US) have been fighting since Vietnam have been in the Middle East and have benefitted Israel. Israel boasts universal healthcare, generous retirement for all citizens. They fund free childcare for 1/4 of their population and subsidized childcare for the rest. Included, of course, is free public education, and highly subsidized college degrees. Yes, Israel heavily subsidizes higher education, treating it as a public good. Universities are largely government-funded, with student tuition only about 25% of the actual educational cost. Tuition at public Universities is relatively low, often around $3,000–$4,000 per year for a bachelor's degree.
