I think most people would agree that only those who can legally vote should. The fundamental question is, "Is it a problem today? And what is the best solution?" There has been no documented evidence of wide spread fraud and certainly not enough to tip a result. If there were, is what is the best form of ID and how would we make sure everyone has easy access? The GOP has a solution looking for a problem IMO.

They all know they are in danger of turning blue, and this will help them make sure that doesn’t happen. SCOTUS will deliberately drag their feet on hearing the case and giving a ruling until after the midterms giving red states all the time they need to disenfranchise millions of democrat voters.
