Jesus Christ this man is a moron. Spends an entire year bashing our allies, constantly talking shit to them, *threatening* them with invasion, mocking their soldiers who died helping us after 9/11. Then forgets all of that when all of a sudden he needs something. The day this sack of lard dies will be such a good day.

I don’t think he’s forgetting, I think that’s just how he treats people and expects them to be grateful. He’s constantly the victim but he’s in a situation where he can’t do that and blame others for fixing his mess.

Isn't this Donald Trump 101? Get people to pay for services up front OR do services up front— then never deliver what they paid for, or pay them for their services. Then drag out lawsuits for 20 years. What are they going to do? He already has huge beef with weapons manufacturers not making enough weapons, and the fact that they aren't going in debt to make tons more has been a personal slight against him, so if these countries don't buy more weapons, it hurts the people he dislikes. The funny thing is, most of these companies probably voted for him. The military industrial complex doesn't run on sunshine and roses.

The_IVth_Crusade Apr 2, 2026 +105
Im not sure any countries are going to be looking at buying American weaponry again any time soon. Trump has been floating the idea of using the money Switzerland paid for Patriot missiles to be used to make missiles for the US to use in Iran rather than giving Switzerland what they paid for. The US has used over 3000 missiles (in a matter of weeks) since the attacks on Iran started. I saw a report the other day stating that Ukraines count of missiles used since Russia invaded is around 600 (Russia invaded in 2022).

the world trusting US tech for critical equipment (military or other infrastructure) is already dead after donnies kill switch announcement. it'll just take a few years for existing contracts/purchases to finish up, and for alternate supply lines to be shored up

I saw his ideas destroy Atlantic City, kick elderly folks out of the only housing they’ve ever known, and stiff contractors or sue them. I will never comprehend why people enjoy him. The stupid show in which he fired contestants should have been enough to realize he can’t run the country.

I saw an article the other year about a journalist who had spent a lot of time with billionaires and was reflecting on how they all had one thing in common: the all felt like they were victims. As if they were doing the world a favor by existing and no one appreciated their service.

Please do not insult lard by comparing it to that man, unlike Trump lard is actually useful and can be used for several things including but not limited to both baking pastries and frying. Our president however is about as useful as an asteroid on the other side of the galaxy is to a f****** four-year-old.

I think you live with the misconception, that we are still your allies. Sorry, but we aren't. You pushed us away. For me personally this point was reached, as you threatened an invasion of Greenland. We rearm. Not against Russia, not China. It's to defend against you.

SlowCrates Apr 2, 2026 +138
As an American seeing the mindless horde galvanized for Trump and his evil bullshit, I cannot stress enough how smart you are and how *stupid* anyone else is for not being *extremely* wary/defensive against the United States. This country is a hairline away from being a full blown fascist dictatorship and no one has touched the brakes yet.
138
jimicus Apr 2, 2026 +62
For a couple of centuries, the US’s biggest strength has been that it’s quite hard to evict an elected president. This has given a level of stability that many other countries simply cannot guarantee. Now it’s looking like the biggest weakness.

It is now at the stage in Europe that most right wing parties that initially supported Trump are having to distance themselves significantly from Trump, if they don't for some parties it is resulting in political decimation.

It doesn't make any sense, Europe buys these weapons, who's going to keep being their stuff knowing Trump might try to use it to coerce them into doing his bidding or just cancel orders in a tantrum?

Mark my words. If he invades Greenland, Denmark will invoke Article 5 and then the shit really will hit the fan.
515
Cuddlejam Apr 2, 2026 +522
He’ll invade Cuba first once the Epstein files begin to fill the news again. This will happen in 2026. After the midterms, which will be tampered, he will look towards Greenland after having pulled out of NATO in early 2027.
522
jimicus Apr 2, 2026 +213
Him pulling out of NATO is neither here nor there. When Denmark invoke Article 5, they're hardly expecting the US to come to their aid to defend them against the US.
213
Geodiocracy Apr 2, 2026 +196
Like the Danish did the last time. They and the EU will make sure there are soldiers present of many different EU countries. Meaning an attack by the US will automatically be an attack on those countries forces too. I.e. getting the strongest countries in the EU involved. That Article 5 will be for everyone but the US. The Trade Bazooka, and other financial and military punishments would follow suit. It would be such a waste of money and power for the US, that I'm inclined to believe there is no world where he does order an invasion. But then I remember he gave the go ahead for the shitshow in Iran.

Trump is a p****. He ain't f****** with anybody that has nukes that can hit Mar-a- lago. He figured Iran was in a bad situation with all of the unrest. He figured wrong. Now the whole world is in a oil crisis. Cuba, another light weight without nukes. But as Russia has found out, people are willing and ready to kick some ass when invaded. He is going to have his hands full for longer than most think in Iran.No navy or air force and they have a good part of the world crippled for lack of oil. The whole thing has been insane.

In the last two weeks he's opened up sanctions on Russia and now he's likely to disarm their enemy. Genius.... I just can't work out for sure if Hanlon's Razor applies here or whether he really is Vlad's puppet. It doesn't entirely matter if of the outcome is the same.

Grey’s law: sufficiently advanced stupidity is indistinguishable from malice. But with Trump, it’s always both.
42
VegasKL Apr 2, 2026 +103
The art of the deal (according to Trump, from how he negotiates historically): - Start from an exaggerated position with insane demands. - Insult and refuse to cooperate. - Lie about the opposition, attempt to make their life hell. - Threaten the opposition if they don't agree to terms. - If they agree to terms, the deal is only good for as long as he wants it to be; he may change terms or rip it up whenever he feels like it. It creates a scenario that once you learn you realize he's not making a deal backed by honor or integrity, it's one that is flimsy at best.
103
jimicus Apr 2, 2026 +42
The astonishing thing is that this is so well known, and yet people keep on doing business with him. I guess if you factor his volatility into the pricing it might work.
42
Nice_Dependent_7317 Apr 2, 2026 +117
There may be plenty of buyers outside Europe, but this kind of move sends a clear message: the USA can turn arms deals into political leverage whenever it suits them. That’s the kind of unpredictability that makes partners rethink long-term commitments. We will see if he follows through with this, he surely is stupid enough, but his donors from the defense industry may pull his leash.
117
Master_Muskrat Apr 2, 2026 +47
If I'm not mistaken, some of the bigger weapon purchases can take up to a decade to deliver. Even once Trump is gone, who is willing to bet there won't be someone like him in power again in that time?

When the dollar collapses, guess what, factory jobs return , yay!? No? You know Republicans will sell it as, "See, we've made every American a millionaire!" They won't just do away with the penny our money will start with 100's.

The only factory jobs there will ever be in the US, are in prisons.
223
IntelligentStyle402 Apr 3, 2026 +43
Republican Reagan did outsource all excellent factory jobs. With the factory unions left, he smashed them. Study people, look it up. The middle class always gets screwed by filthy rich white republicans. Before Reagan, my father worked for the largest paper mill in our in our valley. He made $25ph. 8 weeks vacation, including sick and personal time off. Also a life insurance policy. At the end of Reagan’s term: $10ph, no benefits. Went to visit last summer they now make $13ph, still no benefits. True post! Thats when mothers had to return work, to feed their family and pay the rent or mortgage. A republican did this to you.

Hyperinflation. Good news, the national debt goes away. Bad news? So do all the savings of millions of people. Hedges include foreign stocks, gold, and your home.
31
ScienceBitch89 Apr 2, 2026 +83
Realistically all your savings goes to 0 they denominate a new currency and start all over anything that isn’t a tangible asset is worthless. Goods still hold value but your money doesn’t. There will be crazy volatility in the markets and assets like homes will be rebaselined. Eventually the new currency will just replace dollars but our status as the world’s reserve currency has brought us untold wealth and power. That crumbles and the empire unwinds. We will still be a fairly rich and powerful nation but we loose the ability to manipulate global markets so when stuff like global recessions happen we won’t have the same tools to weather the storm.
83

It’s still surprising to me that the Euro hasn’t already evolved as the international standard with it being the currency of so many countries already. Will be interesting to see which takes over for the USD, Euro or Yuan.
124
Soulsiren Apr 2, 2026 +271
The Euro has several major problems to be an international standard in the way that USD is today. Multiple countries using it is less helpful than you would think because they are still very separate markets, with separate government budgets, and separate debt. If you want to be a global currency, what you want to offer is market depth and stability. Big players want to be able to move in and out of the market in massive ways without disrupting the market itself. The Euro market is very fragmented and already had a sovereign debt crisis in recent history. There is no real common European government debt comparable to US Treasuries. When you buy Euro debt, it is backed by individual European countries. You buy German debt, Italian debt, French debt... and those are individually smaller markets with different risk profiles. The EU has failed to agree on shared debt forever. Countries like Germany and the Netherlands do not want to risk promising that they - meaning their citizens and their taxes - would foot the bill for weaker Euro economies like Italy in a pinch. It is politically tantamount to accepting that the Italian government gets to decide how to spend German money. This is not just a economic question but one tied to strong ideological ideas about how an individual country should be run, cultural stereotypes about financial (ir)responsibility, and the limit of solidarity between countries. The EU would have to take some deeply fundamental steps towards unifying their economies in order to really offer what the dollar offers today.

The dollar was already there is all. And, until recently, it had a long history of stability.
31
yokokiku Apr 2, 2026 +7
The Euro has not proven to be as stable unfortunately. Don’t forget the euro area debt crisis during the last decade. For many years, it really called into question the stability of the euro as a common currency. By contrast, the dollar has not come anywhere close to being “unstable”, not even recently as you imply.

Canada purchasing F-35s in the future was basically guaranteed until Trump started running his mouth about Canada becoming the 51st state. Now it seems like the Gripen from Sweden has about an equal chance of getting the contract.
120
TeamKitsune Apr 2, 2026 +80
Especially with Sweden offering to build them in Canada. Factories and jobs are hard to pass up.
80

Also then they're guaranteed. At the moment the USA as a supplier is giving untrustworthy vibes.
51
callmeishmael_again Apr 2, 2026 +21
Big part of the deal was overpaying for these f35 white elephants so that the USA would keep building them and we would partner on defence of the arctic if needed. Once that's in question, there really isn't much point subsidizing the US military industrial complex and its deliberate inefficiency and need to send jobs to red states.
21
TalisWhitewolf Apr 2, 2026 +19
Better than equal I'd say. Especially after El Taco Trump opened his mouth AGAIN and started talking about 'kill-switches' in military equipment that America sells.
19
AnonymousDork929 Apr 2, 2026 +13
Trump only cares about the appearance of what he's doing as opposed to the actual results or actually accomplishing anything. Because his supporters are even dumber than him so they just look at him pushing around other countries and say "hurr durr 'murica first" but they never look at the details which are way more intricate than they can comprehend. They have no clue the actual consequences of him alienating everyone and it shows.
13
275MPHFordGT40 Apr 2, 2026 +35

Majorapat Apr 2, 2026 +147
I'm generally wondering what his end goal is. Attack Iran is really pushing for an end of the Petro Dollar, and with rumblings over the last load of years about desires to move away from a US Dollar backed trade standard for Oil, I can only see this getting accelerated now. My best guess is the Chinese Yuan as a replacement, which will change the core financial markets irrevokably. Add on top of that, attempting to cooerce / threatening Europe, one of your biggest buyers and sellers for various commodities, who also happen to enact as a singular block because of EU rules, just doesn't make sense. Dementia is something else.
147
LuckyStranger4677 Apr 2, 2026 +77
Legacy. Everything he does comes down to that. There's no big brain plays here. People try to talk in terms of global economies, wondering what strategic play he was trying to get at, and the answer is: none of them. There was no strategy. There was no 5D chess. Everything Trump has done in the past decade has been about hie legacy. His name on buildings. His name in history books. His face on the dollar. He was born in raised in New York City and all his life he's been faced with legacy names like Rockefeller, Vanderbilt, and Winthrop and he's did everything he could to get into the Old Money Billionaire Club and they always shooed him away. But with his name on everything from shoes to hotels to casinos to airports to the Kennedy Center, he's trying to become someone like them. "Conquering" Iran is his latest attempt to secure his legacy. Dementia + shitty 'yes men' + ego = "I can just go into Iran like I did Venezuela and take it over in a week by bombing everything. Then I'll be the President known for peace in the middle east and they'll talk about me for hundreds of years." People give Trump too much credit if they think there was any other thought past this other than him wanting to be idolized.

Weaken US standing in the world, just like Putin ordered
237
KDavidP1987 Apr 2, 2026 +56
This is exactly what I keep saying! in his first term everyone was questioning his relationship with Putin. I don’t hear much about this now… I find it awfully interesting that here in a second term he’s doing everything he can to isolate the US, leave NATO, exploit others within and without the country, and in general show us as an unreliable partner. My only hope is that NATO countries grow significantly stronger as a result of this and can stand on their own, against threats of Russia and China. Not just militarily stronger but economically stronger. Then maybe people will wanna flock to NATO countries as an ideal place to live, work, and study instead of coming to the US. If this happens, the US will lose its standing. To be clear I don’t want this want this, ideally, the US and NATO would both thrive… this just doesn’t seem to be realistic with this administration and 50% of the country believing America should be isolationist.
56
Geeky_Husband Apr 2, 2026 +75
The simple fact that a ship of Russian oil made it to Cuba and Trump just shrugged about it tells you EVERYTHING you need to know about how Trump is Putin's b****.
75
notahouseflipper Apr 2, 2026 +25
You’re right, but there’s another piece of this puzzle. He’s not doing it in a vacuum. Somehow, and I don’t know how, he’s got the DOJ, CIA, DOD (~~War~~) and the rest of the alphabet groups to go along with this nonsense.
25
Geeky_Husband Apr 2, 2026 +23
During Trump's first term, he brought in actual competent people. Evil people, but competent. This time around, he's moved people into power specifically that wouldn't stand in his way. They are stupid evil. Even Bondi's replacement is a Trump lackey. Was his personal lawyer, who is just as evil as Cohen, but a little smarter. He also defended for Giuliani and Manafort. Always remember... Power without accountability is corruption.
23
Mediocre-Patient-429 Apr 2, 2026 +7
That's exactly my thoughts. And there are so many parallels to Hitler's rise to power pre war.
7
KDavidP1987 Apr 2, 2026 +18
I don’t think it’s so surprising as long as you’re catering to people’s common interests. I think that there are plenty of people in the US apparently 50% who support isolationism. So either he legitimately believes that what he’s doing is the best thing for the country or he’s stringing them along. I don’t think those isolationist, and often xenophobic and racist, people would see the damage of these policies until it’s too late, because they are close minded and often short sighted.
18
BushMonsterInc Apr 2, 2026 +9
I’d say it’s not entirely clear if its due to russias influence or just empire of US folding onto itself with infinite search for ever higher profits and no more markets to easily exploit. Economical turmoil, political instability, cultural fractures, healthcare problems and military overreach historically showed empire that is about to either collapse or get push into secondary role. And US is showing signs of this. Unless something is done to curb orange wanna be king, or shortly after he leaves office - US is on downward spiral
9
PrimeWolf101 Apr 2, 2026 +19
Every empire crumbles eventually. Generally you only get about 100 years of being the dominant global force and the US is actually right on track for collapsing by that standard. By that time everyone alive in your empire was born into a world where their country was the greatest. So they take it for granted, they think they are invincible, they over extend, make stupid decisions. The world sees this, stops valuing their currency, stops backing them militarily, starts reducing trade with them to minimise the fallout damage of the collapse. Suddenly they come to find their currency only had value because everyone wanted it. Their political and military power was heavily reliant on alliances. And the industries and resources that made them great in the first place are long gone. Tale as old as time. Though it's no laughing matter for anyone, when America falls it will take the world economy with it unfortunately.
19
casce Apr 2, 2026 +42
It all makes sense if destroying alliances was an objective to begin with. Trump has been trying to destroy both NATO for ages and he's also been heavily attacking economic relations with Europe for a while now with his tariffs That doesn't mean stupidity and dementia aren't *also* heavily involved though.
42
something_newx Apr 2, 2026 +25
For him, it's a win-win. If Europe goes in to clean up his mess, he gets to feel like he told them too and they're subservient...which will lead to even more of the same. If they don't, he can keep whining about how NATO will never help the US and pull out of NATO, which he's seemed to want for a while.

He thinks being isolationist is best when it never is in this day and age.
11
Unlucky_Clover Apr 2, 2026 +41
His end goal is to collapse America. Nothing he does can be considered unintentional and plain stupid, these decisions are being made with intent and only make sense if your goal is to ruin the country.

13
The_IVth_Crusade Apr 2, 2026 +9
To make money simple as that. Trump and his cronies (like most politicians) are only really interested in making money regardless of the damage it does to the economy or the country. Remember the tarrifs Trump announced that have now been deemed illegal? The next day he openly declared how many billions of dollars the other people in the room had made because of it, while Americans who import goods were suddenly paying more for what they bought.
9
petrichorified Apr 2, 2026 +8
In an interview he gave his reason for attacking Iran as "Maybe its just habit" for the USA to f*** around in the Middle East, after rambling that he's not sure why they did it. Absolutely bonkers.
8
Facts_pls Apr 2, 2026 +43
They threatened Canada with that 51st state bullshit and then applied stupid tariffs. Now Canada is officially not buying some American products and there is a big movement to not buy American. Americans are pissed off about that. Constant ads to invite Canadian tourists to US states and the trade agreement folks are also nonplussed. All that means is that Canada is doing something right. Would love to see the same from all of Europe.
43
PeterLossGeorgeWall Apr 2, 2026 +14
Don't worry many of us in the EU have been boycotting the US since Trump's first stint. And I have family in the US! There were lots of reports of people being denied entry if people didn't give phone passwords or social media access in the first term. I have young kids and I can't travel all the way to the US just to be turned away because I don't have social media (I'm not sure listnook counts). In honesty, I just don't think I would give any access if asked. I believe so much in privacy that I just don't think I can. Nonetheless, I'm not wasting all that time and money to be denied entry, especially with young kids.
14
binzoma Apr 3, 2026 +8
as a canadian who lived most of my life within an hours drive of the US, I havent been since 2016. and have spent a lot of money over the past decade on flight routes that avoid it when traveling. trump is a symptom. the people are the problem. when only 1/3 of the population looks at donald trump running for a *second* term on an openly authoritarian campaign and says this shouldnt happen..... yeah this is a multi generational thing for them

I’m floored how 30-45% still support this ‘thing’. My neighbor is pretty much steadfast maga and still pushing for the Iran war. Sigh.
152
SonomaChef24 Apr 2, 2026 +102
That 30-45% are not going to be convinced otherwise. They are the hardline, racist, pedophilic ones who fully believe in the cult, believe Trump is the second coming of Jesus, or at least the architect of his second coming. He legitimizes their beliefs, says heinous shit that any other president would be impeached over, and they cheer. Thousands of people are dying because of the bombs they are dropping, they blew up a f****** girls school, and they love that shit. I hate this shit so much.

Apparently he's pissed at Ukraine/Zelenskyy for getting involved without going through him first. I don't have words to describe the ill will I feel towards this individual. My wife described him as an "oddball" the other day and it was so insufficient to describe everything that's wrong with him that I actually got really annoyed with her.
29

Stupid world politics now has massive "high school group project" energy. Trump is essentially telling the EU, "If you don't help me with my half of the presentation on Iran, I'm deleting your slides on Ukraine."

Hey, he passed the "10-minute screening tool for mild cognitive impairment that people with normal cognition easily pass" multiple times. A test that even includes "serial subtraction"! Or as Trump puts it: "It starts off with an easy question. And by the time you get to the middle, it gets tougher. By the time you get to the end, very few people can answer those questions. They get very tough mathematical equations and things." Also: "I’m the only president that ever took a [the above] cognitive test." But don't ask why doctors saw a need for that test on multiple occasions.

39
ThroawayJimilyJones Apr 2, 2026 +41
For info: US doesn’t help Ukraine anymore. Since the start of 2025, Every weapon delivery was BOUGHT BY EUROPE So right now he’s trying to blackmail Europe by refusing to honor their orders if they don’t want to join his war
41
RelaxedPuppy Apr 2, 2026 +13
Agreed. Really kinda of funny. You can only take something away one time. Europe and Ukraine have little to lose by saying no. He's already stopped helping them. He's not going to give them anything going forward unless it's in his personal monetary interest to do so, regardless of what they do. Best for them to take a hard line against the US to minimize the damage he's going to do to them. Trump understands getting slapped down.

The man doesn't have "friends" in the traditional sense -- narcissists/sociopaths tend to view people as tools to get what they want (feed their ego, etc.).  This flows into his belief structure on "allies" where he's spent years calling them names and insulting them (something he does to everyone) only to feel betrayed when they don't answer his call for assistance; they refuse to be useful to _his_ needs. In that moment they become targets of retribution or abuse.

As an American who didn't vote for this but who did vote, I feel like wearing a tshirt "I'm not with stupid" and an arrow pointing at him, the administration and MAGA isn't enough. The things he's doing are so bad and I don't think other countries care if we as individuals did this, I think they care that we as individuals haven't undone it. His actions and his stench is on all of us.
25
StandardReindeer5741 Apr 3, 2026 +9
I know hating the French is a funny joke but the US needs to f****** learn from them. We are so horrible at organizing and taking action against the government that we let it get this bad. I hate that I wasn't born a decade earlier so I could've actually tried to do something about it before it got to this point. The propaganda machine has been hard at work in the country since day one.

How is this helping America? Everything is going up in price. Trump pretty much said the government won't fund child care services or medicare because they need money for the "wars". ICE is kidnapping people and murdering them. The entire trump administration needs to be impeached and trialed for prison.

Hope he’s lubing up for the epic shafting he’s going to get from Putin and Xi. He is genuinely just a loud liability, he’s destroying the world economy, shitting on whatever credibility America was building back up after his last presidency, and basically volleying around the world attempting to gaslight and browbeat people into believing his outlandish claims- the majority of which are just outright bollocks, only a moron would believe anything out of that fool’s mouth is true. He wouldn’t know what the truth was, even if it walked up to him and impeached his lunatic ass. I’m quite concerned that once he’s totally alienated Americas historical defence, partners NATO allies and thoroughly pissed off the rest of the globe, there will be no voices of reason left he will listen to, that could call him out on his actions or have Americas back if another country capitalises on his being seen politically and internationally as a pariah and leading the country right into complete isolation from traditional allies ; Russia and China will swoop in and he’ll jump right onboard- committing the us to partnership with dictators. He won’t want to step down after his term ends and the American public will be trapped in a long term and globally despised autocracy, left with decimated public services, a government which has been openly encouraging racism within govt legal and immigration depts, and that’s being controlled by a child abusing lying, bullying, idiotic excuse for a president. Who on earth thought it was even remotely going to be a successful plan to vote a child abusing-rapist into office? Get your heads checked, whoever you are.
