I doubt Carr even knows what was meant to be inaccurate - he’s literally just saying this for his Audience of One.

Old-Ad-3268 Apr 8, 2026 +28
Nothing was inaccurate it just is at odds with the WH spin of turning surrender into a victory.

CNN is owned by WBD which is trying to convince the government to let paramount buy them

Its Trumps son in law business. It WILL happen, and next year, cnn will be just like fox news.

dubblies Apr 8, 2026 +78
CNN has been sucking trump d*** for a while. I stopped watching years ago at this point
78
acrosstheskies25 Apr 8, 2026 +18
I live in Asia so not updated—have they really? My MIL only watches CNN for international news. I’ve gotta warn her if it’s gonna be like Fox.
18
sudoku7 Apr 8, 2026 +15
CNN World has generally retained much of its credibility while CNN US has suffered over the past decade +. I would not necessarily expect to see much change on the CNN International side (but it is worth being concerned over).

UnicornHostels Apr 8, 2026 +9
Can she access our PBS?
9
Preying_Mantid_67 Apr 8, 2026 +9
BBC much better choice.
9
exoriparian Apr 8, 2026 +7
Yes, but also sketchy and very lopsided when it comes to war. Just the other day BBC published an "Iranian source" that said he was ok with the country being nuked and completely flattened. Then they swapped it out with something less inflammatory without any editorial comment or note. Deliberately fanning the flames of nuclear war. [https://novaramedia.com/2026/04/07/bbc-under-fire-for-quoting-iranian-ok-with-being-nuked-by-trump/](https://novaramedia.com/2026/04/07/bbc-under-fire-for-quoting-iranian-ok-with-being-nuked-by-trump/)

extrasponeshot Apr 8, 2026 +6
It's currently still in process. But I would also assume CNN will not be worth watching in a year or so.
6
exoriparian Apr 8, 2026 +1
Yes, you can catch them in a lie any given night. Most of the time it's just misleading phrasing or the focus of the conversation will be spinning from the real issue, but they flat out lie as well. It might be easier to try to get your folks to at least adopt a better source, like Democracy Now or Zeteo, if they won't give CNN up. Then they can see the lies for themselves.
1
Awkward_Cheetah_2480 Apr 8, 2026 +8
Yes, i was just replying to the oop, who said the buyout was in danger. No, it is not.
8
ye_olde_green_eyes Apr 8, 2026 +3
Nah, it'll be slower and more subtle to start like what happened to the Op Ed in the WSJ. Even today not all of it is Fox News like. It's definitely different since the buyout.
3
paf0 Apr 8, 2026 +2
The WSJ was pretty far right even before Murdock bought them.
2
ye_olde_green_eyes Apr 11, 2026 +1
If far right means conservative, sure.

>President Donald Trump fired off a seething threat against CNN Tuesday night in response to its reporting Iran had claimed a "great victory" over the U.S. following the president's announcement to delay his ceasefire deadline by two weeks. >Trump had originally given Iran until 8 p.m. ET Tuesday to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, warning a refusal would mean a "whole civilization will die." >Around 90 minutes before that deadline, Trump and the White House released statements saying the U.S. and Iran had agreed to negotiate an end to hostilities that would include the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the suspension of fighting for two weeks. >Following the announcement, CNN published a post to its online live blog detailing the Iranian response. >"Iran says it has achieved a great victory and forced the United States to accept its 10-point plan, according to a statement from Iran's Supreme National Security Council report by Iranian state media," the post read.
68
Legitimate-Public-56 Apr 8, 2026 +36
How is this not a major victory for Iran’s corrupt government? The people in Iran would be out in the street celebrating if it wasn’t for their government threatening to kill them if they celebrate in the street.
36
Sleep_adict Apr 8, 2026 +35
I mean it’s a loss for everyone but a bigger loss for the USA. Basically Iran has a better deal now than before.
35
Morgan-Moonscar Apr 8, 2026 +17
I'm sure all the other countries just LOVE the fact they know have to pay $2 million a ship to pass through the strait that was FREE six weeks ago.
17
Legitimate-Public-56 Apr 8, 2026 +5
So now they will have no sanctions and can still treat their people very badly. This won’t stop McDonald’s and KFC from opening up some restaurants there this year.

They say the easiest people to con are con men. They vastly over estimate their own intelligence. I imagine Trump doesn't even know he has been played yet.
7
SVTContour Apr 8, 2026 +4
If CNN can post Trump’s lies, then they can post Iran's responses even if they're lying too.

OpenDaCloset Apr 8, 2026 +65
Wild that we as a society here in America have allowed 1 man to absolutely destroy any trust in media with his “fake news” any time someone reports on something he doesn’t like. He’s literally trying to take over everything we consume. Literally got rid of PBS!!! Like what?! I understand news outlets report negligently from time to time, but overall I feel it’s still relatively trustworthy. I mean if you consume Fox News, they literally had to pay Billions in penalties over openly LYING to their viewers, but let’s not forget. They are an entertainment channel who calls themselves news….they are propaganda, nothing more.
65
TwoDrinkDave Apr 8, 2026 +21
Not just the media but all our major institutions. Too bad we couldn't have seen this coming. If only we'd gotten a copy of their super-secret plans in advance. /s
21
Shigglyboo Apr 8, 2026 +6
they should have just played his comedy central roast on repeat in 2015. that was the end of his career. we were putting him out to pasture.

Read Project 25.
1
bstone99 Apr 8, 2026 +14
You should read *Where Tyranny Begins*. It’s about exactly what you’re talking about. The total abdication of our institutions and kowtowing to a wannabe strongman authoritarian. And not just any wannabe dictator, but a guy whose entire life is full of fraudulent, corrupt, and criminal acts that somehow managed to bend over the DOJ, the FBI, congress, mass media, and the scientific community because of his insane and rabid rhetoric riling up lunatic followers. Reading this after *The Longest Con* and *Russians Among Us*, really paints a crystal clear picture of how corrupt and dangerously evil the Republican party is. It goes back to before Nixon but it really took off with him and Roy Cohn.
14
BigCopperPipe Apr 8, 2026 +4
Just purchased Russians among us from your recommendation. Going on a short vacation and could use a book during downtime.

Rightwingers ok with the potus trying to silence media? Yesterday every network was covering Iran and Trump’s war crimes. Meanwhile on The 5 on Fox they were more interested in Gavin Newsome’s wife. Anyone who supports repubs and this potus has no morals left
12
Cool-Association3420 Apr 8, 2026 +5
They’re totally ok cuz they believe him. No truth except their truth goes in.

9
KingMobScene Apr 8, 2026 +6
If CNN had any guts they'd report on Carrs comments and point out that he has no evidence to back it up. And then give sources for their reporting (as long as they're not anonymous sources)
6
Used-Yogurtcloset757 Apr 8, 2026 +5
Fox reports inaccurately without providing evidence constantly. In fact, I seem to remember them winning a lawsuit for this by claiming they were not actually news. They didn’t have to stop labeling as news or anything else after so seems like a CNN slam dunk against the FCC to me.
5
iroquoispliskin2029 Apr 8, 2026 +6
It's a cable news network. Good luck with that.
6
EzrioHext Apr 8, 2026 +4
People are missing something. There was no inaccurate reporting. CNN reported that Iran said they had achieved a great victory. Iran did claim that. Trump just doesn't want people to know that they are anything other than defeated and destroyed, because with them claiming victory that narrative falls apart.
4
PJballa34 Apr 8, 2026 +3
Uhhh Brendan, Fox News is basically a propagandist black hole but bet you think it’s all peachy overthere.
3
upfromashes Apr 8, 2026 +3
Can you imagine if Fox News were held accountable for broadcasting lies?

3
joyful101207 Apr 8, 2026 +3
Trump threatens everyone who doesn't bow to him. He is a subhuman and seems to think it makes people respect him.....no way.
3

2
TraditionalLaw7763 Apr 8, 2026 +2

2
djm19 Apr 8, 2026 +2
CNN accurately reported this and the WH is mad. FCC has no jurisdiction over CNN. And now even Fox News is reporting the same as CNN.
2
thirdgen Apr 8, 2026 +1
Unfortunately FCC has some level of jurisdiction because CNN has satellite uplinks they use for reporting and for distribution to cable networks.
1
TemujinRi Apr 8, 2026 +2
He doesn't need evidence. His cult doesn't care about facts or truth. More of them publicly call for killing Democrats as the threat of losing power in the Midterms looms over them.
2
Spiritual-Pizza2021 Apr 8, 2026 +2
What about holding Fox News accountable to provide credible sources on a single "news" story??
2
Califrisco Apr 8, 2026 +2
“a report he claims is inaccurate without providing evidence” 😳 Has he listened to his old orange sugar daddy, ever? That's completely blind loyalty; two-face hypocrisy. 🤬
2
firstcoastkilla Apr 8, 2026 +2
Inaccurate without providing evidence..."they're eating the dogs! They're eating the cats! They're eating the pets!"

2

No way we let these authoritarians shut down our free media. We need a new set of laws to allow prosecuting Carr for the attempt.
2
andyraylan Apr 8, 2026 +2
If that’s the standard, let’s do Fox next
2
BS623-902 Apr 8, 2026 +2
CNN has lawyers, too, this sounds like an easy win for big damages for them.
2
PlaxicoCN Apr 8, 2026 +2
The party of free speech and small government at it yet again.
2
majik5 Apr 9, 2026 +2
So what does Mr.Carr think the accountability for someone who claims an election is stolen without evidence and then whips up a crowd of supporters to commit acts of violence against police and members of Congress in an attempt to maintain power after losing an election?
2
Gatsby520 Apr 9, 2026 +2
Brendan isn’t a press censor. He’ll get laughed out of court when CNN sues the government.

why is he still in office? I'm not even in the US and I was thinking about our emergency preparedness yesterday. I shouldn't have to be actually considering what to do if he starts a nuclear war. that's beyond the pale, even for his dumb ass. he should have been removed yesterday. but today will work too. the man threatened to exterminate an entire country. the entire planet is dealing with the fallout from his blustering. he needs to be removed NOW.

1

And Hegseth claimed that Iran leaders "begged" for a cease-fire. It didn't look that way to me with citizens using their bodies as shields. What about his false statements??
1

Why the f*** are we praising the guy who got us into a war then said "alright, we'll agree to stop for a bit"? MAGA, you should be pissed he even STARTED a war with another country. Especially so when you all bitched and moaned for years about "no new wars" or "focus on US citizens first". Dude literally puts US citizens last and you praise him??????

If I were in a negotiation to which both parties agree is the framework for a settlement, i wouldn't care who takes credit. It would be more appropriate to say "we" have agreed to start negotiations from this starting point. I would be happy for both sides to take credit for "winning. " Because everybody loses in a war. A good deal is good for both sides. Iran can take all the credit it wants. DJT can take credit for starting an unnecessary war, killing innocent civilians, driving up prices around the world, damaging relationships with our allies and dividing the USA. DJT is such a whiney little baby. He just wants to take credit for ending another war, one that he didn't need to start.
