woah_man May 8, 2026 +141
That's it wise guy, you get a tariff!
141
RadicalOrganizer May 8, 2026 +54
Which will be gone by Tuesday, replaced with an even worse deal for us.
54
AbandonedWaterPark May 8, 2026 +26
That’s it! Your tariff is now doubled!
26
speculatrix May 8, 2026 +30
Yours is now 600%, that's three times 30%
30
Complete-Tangelo1532 May 8, 2026 +6
Makes sense, you see there ARE two ways to get the percentages! (/Obviously Sarcasm)
6
Dramatic-Set8761 May 8, 2026 +5
And by "worse deal for us", I think you mean "worse deal for USA".
5
ymOx May 8, 2026 +11
What a nice export you have here! Would be such a shame if it was... *tariffed*!
11
Spinoza42 May 8, 2026 +11
No no he also has bombs. Maybe we'll get bombs?
11
dgkimpton May 8, 2026 +8
Probably not, we're paying for weapons and even they he can't deliver. The odds of getting them instead of tarifs are exceedingly low.
8
Spinoza42 May 8, 2026 +5
I was thinking more of some express delivery system. Dropshipping, if you will.
5
Thin-Discipline1673 May 8, 2026 +4
Pretty bombs.

mszcz May 8, 2026 +44
Finally, a proper reaction! Who even cares what he says anymore? He's like the putin of one of his RC puppets - whenever they open their mouths, you've already heard it - bla bla lies lies, we best they suck, we win 100% they loose 100%, we kill you, we demand, we deserve. Ugh.

Trump: "Do what I say, or I will tax my own citizens even higher" EU: "Err, OK, whatevs"

1482
azuratios May 7, 2026 +463
He made a tariff deal under the threat of tariffs. Then spent a year threatening tariffs despite the deal. Now the EU lawmakers cannot convince the member-states that the US will honour its part of the deal. Trump proceeds to make the same threats again, returning back to point one (April 2025) after having spent every ounce of his credibility.
463
Shopworn_Soul May 8, 2026 +209
> having spent every ounce of his credibility. I genuinely struggle to imagine a universe in which he had any to spend in the first place, but here we are.

FFXIVHousingClub May 8, 2026 +78
The Presidential Seat of the Free World meant something to other countries, America meant something beyond what it is now Now 1/3 is the number in most of our heads that America has representing followers of Trump Goodluck changing that in the next century unless the states do split and the racists/ bigots do get segregated from policies though most people know it’s both sides politically that need to be outed regardless for allowing Trump’s reign to exist so casual It’s also stupid that each time Trunp mentions tariffs… it’s hurting the USA more than other countries, it’s all very mind boggling besides share manipulation and it working for his private friends vs voters/ common people
78
Inspect1234 May 8, 2026 +28
Plus weren’t these tariffs deemed illegal by his own SCOTUS?
28
Svennis79 May 8, 2026 +23
That was more like "tarrifs of ABC123 type are illegal" So they are coming back with tarrifs ABC124, so it has to go through the whole legal ptocess again. If SCOTUS werent corrupt, they could have just said all tarrifs are illegal unless specifically reviewed & ratified by congress.
23
Left-Night-1125 May 8, 2026 +8
He probably has very good arkumenz...er arguments. (He realy does, he has other people say "Trump, you have some great arguments")
8
qtquazar May 8, 2026 +39
'The Presidential Seat of the Free World' is, quite frankly, the kind of American exceptionalist bullshit that leads to problems like Trump. America needs to stop indulging in your own bonkers narratives like this and find some damned humility as a nation.
39
_alright_then_ May 8, 2026 +20
I was thinking the same thing. That's the kind of shit you'd never hear anywhere but online or in America lol. Nobody else sees America as the "presidential seat of the free world".
20
napalmnacey May 8, 2026 +11
Thank you. Australians don’t even accept interference from our own inherited royalty, let alone Americans with a very inflated view of themselves.
11
PM_ME_UR_CREDDITCARD May 8, 2026 +38
2/3rds. If they didn't vote against it, they were ok with the possibility.
38
Ascomae May 8, 2026 +28
At this point? Even more everyone not activity protesting is complicit.
28
sir_sri May 8, 2026 +6
He didn't have any. But essentially it's a problem in game theory, it costs nearly nothing to negotiate as though this time he will be happy with the deal. Yes, it's annoying, and his behaviour takes a lot of news time, but other than feeling good about ourselves we get nothing out of not negotiating. Under normal circumstances you would want some form of punishment for the betrayal, before attempting trust again, which at least in public is counter tariffs. But the tariffs are bad for the US. So it's actually sort of hard to come up with a punishment here that is worse than what the US is doing to itself. Canada and the EU have tried to come up with counter tariffs that hurt companies which support trump, or where their goods can be replaced relatively easily. The EU could aim for some sort of public humiliation of Trump personally, you could go after his stuff in Ireland or Romania (or if the UK if they are on board), but that risks a bigger tantrum over a golf course and some apartments. Hardly worth it.
6
Prst_ May 8, 2026 +5
That's also exactly why i think NATO president Rutte keeps sucking up to Trump. From a normal, everyday human perspective this feels very wrong, but i think it is very calculated.
5
thatguy9684736255 May 8, 2026 +46
During his first term, he tore up the old deal and negotiated a new deal with Canada. Now in his second term, he says it's a terrible deal and added a bunch of tariffs
46
Swagalyst May 8, 2026 +17
One can't do deals with the USA any more, because the US's word isn't worth shit. Any deal gets torn up in a month.
17
tonyt3rry May 8, 2026 +25
That’s how I feel when this c*** opens his mouth slagging the uk off . Made a deal with us not long back then a few months later decided to threaten with tarrifs. The us are weak when it comes to standing up to this bully.
25
kinkysubt May 7, 2026 +132
“I’ll put much higher tariffs!” “Sir, courts already ruled you didn’t have that power.” “I’m gonna do it anyway!”
132
Veginite May 7, 2026 +64
It's laughable how arrogant he is.
64
Curtmania May 8, 2026 +41
It would be laughable if Americans stopped supporting him. Instead it's more like eye-opening and jaw-dropping.
41
MrHedgehogMan May 8, 2026 +5
The whole idea of “So what? What are they going to do?” Is his modus operandi.
5
Flash_ina_pan May 7, 2026 +49
He probably didn't hear that the trade courts ruled against him again on his 10% tariffs
49
The_Mammoth_Hunter May 8, 2026 +20
I find it more likely that he did hear and just doesn't give a shit, as per usual. e: with a mix of not understanding it all
20
epanek May 8, 2026 +43
I’ve made a ton of progress regarding how to understand trump. I’ve determined trump sees time and continuity as malleable. There is only this moment. No tomorrow. No yesterday. There is only this moment and I must protect my ego right now. I will say what is needed to win each conversation. Each interview. Each criticism. I will tell you what reality is and if you question me I will rage and hurt you. How dare you question my fantasy world?!? Tell me you love me. Then tell me you love me again. Each encounter, each moment, I must reconstruct myself as a w***** in all I do.

He's survived 3 assassination attempts so far. After being born a nepo baby, and still being a billionaire despite half his ventures failing, then successfully starting a cult and taking the presidency - TWICE! Stop dreaming. This man really does have god smiling down upon him. Or maybe the devil, and he's here to punish you all. Either way, I wouldn't get my hopes up of him dying anytime soon.. Also, if he does die, then JD Vance is in charge..

Gotta have a nice red day on the markets to exercise some options
3
jonathondcole May 7, 2026 +735
Which is amusing because a court today also ruled the ones he implemented after his Supreme Court loss are also illegal.
735
SemiHemiDemiDumb May 8, 2026 +325
He doesn't care. He's gonna keep doing it and threatening to do it. It's part of his limited repertoire.

The US let him do it. All layers of the country can attempt to stop this but barely anybody tries.
35
EINFACH_NUR_DAEMLICH May 8, 2026 +12
What he doesn't understand is that the European commission whom he is threatening does in fact have the power to unilaterally enact tariffs, if we weren't so rational he'd be playing with fire. This is a nothing burger. Trump is a week gormles powerless malet.
12
Pat-Funny-2817 May 8, 2026 +26
it's short term market manipulation. doesn't matter if it is thrown overboard later.
26

Okay. We're working on phasing the US out of the EU market anyway. And it's US citizens that pay the tariffs. I assume at least some of them have realised that by now.

In idiocracy they were literally just dumb. Nothing else. They bore no real ill will and many wanted things to be better but just couldn’t think. The ones we got running around in real life are brimming with hate and act with religious zeal. Idiocracy is a brighter timeline than what we have.

Oh wow, we’re backing to tariff threats against our allies. That means he’s another week or two away from feuding with the pope again or demanding Greenland. insane that our demented pedo president is still managing 35% approval. It’s clear that a sizable portion of our country are irredeemable scum, and it’s a priority that they’re disenfranchised.

5
Nurkanurka May 8, 2026 +4
That's not the way tariffs work. It's the other way round. Trump imposing tariffs on EU means that any products in teh US that comes from the EU has an additional tax for the US consumer. The tariffs aren't on what EU consumes from US companies..

It's like some ignorant bully disinviting friends one by one. The day after his birthday where no one shows up, he'll blame his former friends.

PM_Your_Best_Ideas May 8, 2026 +2
At least they don't have a women president she might start a stupid war...
2
tronzake May 8, 2026 +2
Please do, we are still too reliant on US based products. That’d help our politicians to finally ditch US based products in favor of European ones.

Jensen1994 May 8, 2026 +2
Don't hear him talking much about that $36 trillion national debt - $1 trillion per year interest payments alone.. His only go to are tariffs which slow economic growth and worsen the debt. Can the US ever recover from Trump?
2
vossmanspal May 8, 2026 +2
Let’s not forgot those Epstein files, tariffs on the the US population he means.
2
Kermit-T-Hermit May 8, 2026 +2

sharp11flat13 May 8, 2026 +2
Blah blah blah. Go ahead. Keep taxing your own citizens and weakening your own economy. We’ll wait. 🇨🇦
2
Viscious-viking May 8, 2026 +2
I love this. We won’t need the US for anything in the near future. He is making Europe great again!
2
PablosIJscobar May 8, 2026 +2
Lol, for the umpteenth time in the last 12 months or so. We honestly don't care anymore. I do feel bad for the future American presidents, though. They will constantly try to heal the relationship with the EU, and we'll always decline. We HAVE to decline. We're always just one presidential election away from having to deal with a second Trump, so it's in our best interests to cut all ties.

ChampionshipDry3917 May 8, 2026 +2
🙄 Don't make me come over there.
