Intimidation tactics
309
OnDrugsTonight Apr 1, 2026 +146
Except there's nothing intimidating about a senile old fool who will most certainly fall asleep during the hearing. Oh, he might *try* and stare them down, which seems to be one of his "business tactics" that haven't been updated since the 1980s, but he doesn't have that kind of energy anymore. Also obviously pointless to try that kind of behaviour with people who have a literal job for life.

Mirria_ Apr 1, 2026 +1
> Oh, he might *try* and stare them down, which seems to be one of his "business tactics" You mean that "stern look" he has on his face all the time? The one he practices to perfection so much that it doesn't surprises or scare anyone anymore, and is more of a meme at this point?
1
Zaveno Apr 1, 2026 +1
Is that what that's supposed to be? I always assumed that face was him straining to keep from filling his pants
1
qnxb Apr 1, 2026 +1
The opposite, actually. Anyone who's had a toddler knows it's time to check if they need to be changed.
1
OnDrugsTonight Apr 1, 2026 +1
That's the one. The one he had in his mugshot and the one he will have on those stupid gold coins they're minting for him. I always assume it's the face he makes when he has yet again soiled his diaper.
1
rat_penis Apr 1, 2026 +1
wook at him wif his wittle meen face!!! So angry little man! does someone need a nappie?
1
Spazum Apr 1, 2026 +1
I call it his "mug shot look"
1
FFAbutnotFA Apr 1, 2026 +1
I thought that was the look he does when he shits his diaper.
1
FrankyFistalot Apr 1, 2026 +1
What about the smell? Will be like Satan breathing on you….
1
TakingSorryUsername Apr 1, 2026 +1
“For life”, is the implication.
1
DrewNumberTwo Apr 1, 2026 +1
Who is going to be making sure that they keep that job and that they stay safe? Who is going to keep them from being disappeared? You are seriously underestimating the threat level.

Here’s what surprises me. I know the Artemis launch isn’t the same as Apollo, but it’s still very exciting and has the potential to be a very positive event that connects people regardless of politics and promote patriotism in our 250th year. Trump had an opportunity on a golden platter to have built this up as an achievement of his administration (it’s not, but he loves to take credit for things, and Presidents have already historically tried to connect positive space PR to themselves). He could have even stayed at Mar A Lago all week for this. But he isn’t there, he didn’t even send Vance for the launch. Instead he’s tweeting about the ballroom and sitting at the Supreme Court where he offers nothing but to stare down the Justices? I am repeatedly astounded the way this idiot constantly finds a way to do the exact opposite of the correct thing.
1
porscheblack Apr 1, 2026 +1
I don't disagree with you, but I'm pumped for Artemis and so I'm happy he hasn't involved himself in it. The last thing I want while watching things is live readings of his tweets or him stealing attention.
1
Caccalaccy Apr 1, 2026 +1
Absolutely. I’m just so surprised he and his goons haven’t been all over it. It feels like our secret we need to keep. “Don’t draw his attention to it or he’ll ruin it!”
1
ShermansFieldOrder66 Apr 1, 2026 +1
It's not an all white crew of space marines so he doesn't give a shit.
1
codyzon2 Apr 1, 2026 +1
My speculation is he hates it when other administrations have had their hands on a project, he's super petty and because the rocket was partially built during biden he sees it as a slight against him. He can't just throw the baby out with the bath water on this one so he's just ignoring it.
1
Caccalaccy Apr 1, 2026 +1
Very true. Or he could have decided to only lift up Musk rockets.
1
CatsWearingTinyHats Apr 1, 2026 +1
He’s probably thinks the rocket ugly and got mad when they told him they couldn’t paint it all gold for him.
1
Spatmuk Apr 1, 2026 +1
Well, you see, space is for nerds and he is a bigly strong man, who is not a nerd, and only does cool, strong manly things. People are saying they are the biggest, strongest, manliest things.
1
SryInternet101 Apr 1, 2026 +1
Wh is Artemis so important to you? What is the goal of the mission?
1
Caccalaccy Apr 1, 2026 +1
Exploration, expansion, advancing militarily, conducting experiments. I would absolutely agree the cost/benefit is debatable if that’s what you’re getting at. But still doesn’t stop me from finding it fascinating.
1
Darko33 Apr 1, 2026 +1
I'm utterly flabbergasted at how his being wholly disinterested in a scientific achievement is "surprising" to you
1
Caccalaccy Apr 1, 2026 +1
I never said I expected him to be interested, but that I am surprised he isn’t claiming someone else’s achievement as his own when he needs the PR, something he’s done plenty of times before.
1
PleasantWay7 Apr 1, 2026 +1
No one is intimidated by a dementia patient shitting themselves. It’s just sad to see.
1
kittenTakeover Apr 1, 2026 +1
Seriously. Does anyone think he's actually interested in the intricacies of the case? He's there to send a message to the justices that they better do what he wants.
1
Some_Ride1014 Apr 1, 2026 +440
Does anyone think , if he can stay awake, dump will make noises and stupid faces when he doesn’t agree with the argument that is being presented?
440
FizzyBeverage Apr 1, 2026 +187
Considering he behaved like a petulant 9 year old in his New York convictions? **Likely.** Supreme Court has its own admission for attorneys, he doesn't understand the first thing of how things work there. Not that he understands any appellate court.
187
Meet_the_Meat Apr 1, 2026 +141
Have you heard how people speak in Supreme Court hearings? He won't understand a f****** thing they are talking about.
141
WereInbuisness Apr 1, 2026 +1
Trump is staring at the lawyers speaking, all the while shuffling his feet and fidgeting like a toddler. "Hmmphf. Owww .... big words make brain hurtee. Daddy Miller .... I made another boom boom in my undees. Pwease don't be mad at me!" ⬆️ USA 2026. Sigh
1
UniqueIndividual3579 Apr 1, 2026 +1
And the press will sanewash it. "Trump ponders current events".
1
Devil25_Apollo25 Apr 1, 2026 +1
I can't find it now, but there was a Lebanese (IIRC) satire video about "dumb G. W. Bush" in which advisors were briefing Bush on the Iraq war, and the GWBush character says, اوو، كلام كثير، مِش فاهم ...which is basically, "Ohh, much talkie, me no understand." How sad to think that our most outlandish parodies of a less-competent US President have now become realities under the least-competent US President.
1
RespectTheAmish Apr 1, 2026 +1
No way he understands the proceedings. Like 0% chance. I listened to the tariff oral arguments and there was still a ton of “legalese” I had to look up on the fly to follow. This is all a stunt. He will go, draw a bunch of attention. Then get pulled out because of “war” things. It’s just an intimidation tactic for the justices.
1
MarcusSurvives Apr 1, 2026 +1
He won't understand a word that is coming out of the advocates' mouths. If anything, he may end up making faces of agreement with the opposite side until he's told who they actually are.
1
__MeatyClackers__ Apr 1, 2026 +1
I wouldn’t put it past him to stand up at some point and shout “Objection!” for no reason.

He doesn't agree with arguments to begin with. He's just attracted by appearances and power. So, depending on who looks the most composed and powerful, he'll walk out of the hearings having adopted whatever side that person is on. Hell, he may be in favor of birthright citizenship, when this is over.
1
FizzyBeverage Apr 1, 2026 +1
>*Actually birthright citizenship is a good thing because... Joe Biden crapped in MY pants* MAGA reprograms: It's a good thing, we like it now.
1
UniqueIndividual3579 Apr 1, 2026 +1
Make it retroactive, then Trump isn't a citizen and can't be president.
1
smurfsundermybed Apr 1, 2026 +1
Oh, I fully expect him to shout out comments. The only question is if the justices have enough of a spine to tell him to shut up or gtfo.
1
Some_Ride1014 Apr 1, 2026 +1
I think they will quiet him down, then he will sue, saying he had freedom of speech and of course the corrupt SJC will agree with him.
1
Known_Draw_2212 Apr 1, 2026 +1
Then award himself $10 billion from the treasury
1

I wonder whether he will be asked to leave when the smell becomes unbearable.
1
thisisjustascreename Apr 1, 2026 +1
I doubt he f****** understands the arguments that will be presented.
1
liftbikerun Apr 1, 2026 +1
My guess is he'll be making a whole lot of noises as it's highly doubtful the idiot will 1. understand 9/10 of what is going to be said 2. he'll choke on the fact that the events aren't revolving around him 3. they don't offer milk and cookies at set breaks. The countdown for a meltdown and him announcing he has signed an EO to rename the court to "Trump Court" is on.
1
jmcunx Apr 1, 2026 +1
> 3. they don't offer milk and cookies at set breaks. Well to be fair, I agree with this. Breaks should have milk and cookies :) I really wish these proceedings were televised, watching the dummy and chief at the Supreme Court would be very funny.
1
Blueopus2 Apr 1, 2026 +1
I doubt he'll be able to follow most of the oral arguments lol
1
Some_Ride1014 Apr 1, 2026 +1
Update: Donald Trump storms out of SCOTUS birthright hearing as arguments against him begin Donald Trump failed to sit through a lengthy Supreme Court hearing, staying for just an hour and a half after his dramatic arrival. He dipped as soon as Cecillia Wang, the legal director of the ACLU, began her arguments

usatoday Apr 1, 2026 +133
President Donald Trump’s unprecedented attendance at a Supreme Court argument over birthright citizenship comes after he has repeatedly criticized justices and other judges who have ruled against him in previous cases. Trump has focused most of his ire on two justices he appointed, Neil Gorsuch and Amy Coney Barrett, who joined the 6-3 majority that ruled the president wasn’t authorized to impose emergency tariffs. But Trump has also tangled during both of his terms with Chief Justice John Roberts over the president's criticism of judges ruling against him. Roberts has responded without naming Trump that personal hostility against judges "is dangerous and it's got to stop." No sitting president has previously attended a Supreme Court argument. Trump had previously considered attending the tariff argument, but he decided against it. Trump’s attendance would be unprecedented. Former President Richard Nixon appeared as a lawyer before the high court. William Howard Taft served as president before joining the court as chief justice. And former President John Quincy Adams, who was then serving in the House, argued the Amistad case before the high court in 1841.

the_joy_of_VI Apr 1, 2026 +207
My guess: He thinks that if he’s there, they won’t rule against him.
207
Pockydo Apr 1, 2026 +129
Honestly I genuinely hope his performative act and blatant disrespect by showing make them rule against him. I know it's cope but a man can dream
129
Life_Bet8956 Apr 1, 2026 +1
I hope they just rule against him because that's the only reasonable interpretation of the text.
1
AliMcGraw Apr 1, 2026 +1
TBH I think it's highly likely to piss the Court off. I have no illusions that this court is pro-democracy, but they are very self-important and every time he tries to intimidate the court by smack-talking them he gets a slap down in their next decision (often from Roberts). Roberts is a fed society stooge but he imagines himself a PRINCIPLED man and doesn't want to LOOK like he's doing the president's bidding.
1
logion567 Apr 1, 2026 +1
It would be really funny if the 9-0 his ass
1
Darko33 Apr 1, 2026 +1
Considering the razor-sharp pointed tone of even the conservative bloc's questioning I'm pretty sure they were never going to rule in his favor regardless
1
Pockydo Apr 1, 2026 +1
Honestly I don't see how they could That's open a can of worms no one wants opened

1

Also: He thinks they make the decision at the end of the hearing and will be very confused when they just stop and leave
1

He does understand they make their rulings like months later in most cases?
1
BasvanS Apr 1, 2026 +1
It’s not against him. It’s against something unconstitutional. He is not the law.
1

1

1
shotputprince Apr 1, 2026 +1
Does he think they rule on the spot?
1
porscheblack Apr 1, 2026 +1
I seriously question if he thinks they will make a ruling live, while he's in attendance. He's absolutely going to leave saying "we won!" and then whenever the Supreme Court puts out their actual ruling he'll have already forgotten about it.

A dark day for the rule of law. History will record this as another extreme attempt to intimidate by the absolute worst president of all time. As a result no future presidents will likely ever consider attending a supreme court argument because of the terrible precedent that’s been set.

1
brattyblondeish Apr 1, 2026 +1
The fact that Trump is calling his own appointees "fools" and "an embarrassment to their families" really shows his complete disregard for judicial independence. When even the justices you handpicked won't bow to your authoritarian demands, maybe the problem is you, not them.
1
Berns429 Apr 1, 2026 +1
This feels more like an intimidation tactic
1
Writer_In_Residence Apr 1, 2026 +2
Lifetime appointments, them’s the breaks, Donald. Of course, I’m sure he started to think about how to change that the second Coney Barrett ruled against him way back last year. They gave him too much power, I honestly don’t care if he fires them all. Well, all except the zealot, the grifter, and the drunk. He likes them.
2
APX919 Apr 1, 2026 +1
He likes the zealot and the drunk because they're white. He tolerates the grifter because he's useful. Regardless they are tasked with following the law and interpreting it accordingly, not per intimidation, bribe or personal beliefs.
1
Writer_In_Residence Apr 1, 2026 +1
The fact Roberts pouted about “hostility” toward judges because of some remarks from a man who sent a lynch mob after his own vice president shows they don’t understand Trump or at least are in denial, or maybe they just didn’t care until the leopard started eating their faces.

Hope he brings his nappy time pillow, or maybe one of those airplane neck things
2
Pretend_Meet_88 Apr 1, 2026 +1
For the very first time in history! Previous presidents wouldn't want the appearance of impropriety. King Pedo needs to project dominance on "his court" as he's stated on numerous occasions, exists in a constant state of impropriety and is the best the GOP has to offer.
1
Hayes4prez Apr 1, 2026 +1
Totally normal President. Not weird at all.
1

Yeah- this is so normal.
1
estoybussin Apr 1, 2026 +1
Well now is the chance for Alito to show what an absolute shitbag he is during his dissent ramble. Look this whole case is a chance for the supreme court to prove they are "independent" by making the obvious choice. Except for one or two of them who leap at the chance to grovel.
1
Blochamolesauce Apr 1, 2026 +1
I’m surprised he hasn’t spent more time in there. Cameras aren’t allowed so he could have had so many naps and wake up sharts uninterrupted

This is the bed the conservatives on the court made for themselves
1

He thinks he’s a mobster, so he’s employing the “Frank Pentangeli’s Brother” Gambit.
1

This should be considered intimidation.

Was there the day of Gorsuch’s investiture, as one of the aides behind the bench. Cheeto Benito couldn’t even stay awake that time, and that was years ago. The dementia has had most of a decade to eat at him since then. And also, oh god, oh dear god. There was already this pungent cloud of STENCH surrounding him. I was 30 feet away and it was literally eye watering.

1
localistand Apr 1, 2026 +1
Just a sign of how ineffective, low energy and low effort Trump is regarding the immigration issue. With the presidency, majority in the House and the Senate, and an ideologically-aligned 6-3 supreme court majority, Trump and his administration Republican allies have passed zero meaningful immigration update legislation. No proposed laws, no reforms, no *debate* on immigration in Congress. The border security bipartisan agreement in 2024 was scuttled by Trump, and no replacement has been even discussed. So sure, go scowl, pout and snooze at the Supreme Court for a day, Trump. It's almost the absolute least he could do, all things considered.

This article both makes it sound like this already occurred, while also being something that’s forthcoming.

Purely intimidation against the attorneys and he'll stare at the justices asking questions. Does he really have nothing better to do?

Aaahhh....the art of making enemies, and NOT getting what you want. Trump always attacks those are who weaker than him, but I hope that the Supreme Court does have a spine.

The same foolish SC that granted you get-out-jail-free for all crimes you commit in office.

What’s trump going to do? Those are life time tenure placements. It’s not like he can fire them OR remove them and place someone else.

Does anyone think "his justices" have picked up that Dump loyalty goes only one way?

gerryf19 Apr 1, 2026 +1
The one group he cannot intimidate because even though he appointed 3 of them, they have lifetime appointments. I would thoroughly enjoy if this stunt alienates some of them.

How many Dump supporters remember teaching their children to respect each other and never to "call people names?" Dump is the worst example of Boomer bullshit. If he acted this way as a child of one of his supporters, he would be whipped or beat, grounded, and punished for some duration. He may very well get his mouth filled with soap. My parents were boomers and I received those punishments for actions far more innocent than what Dump has been doing and saying in public. Where is your outrage now boomers? Is everything you taught us no longer applicable? Do you stand behind your decisions to use violence against helpless children for stupid decisions or word usage? Yes? Then explain why you tollerate far worse behavior from your president. Boomers, next time you say the world (meaning USA to them) has descended into depravity, ask yourselves, what is acceptable behavior? And, why does Dump get a pass?
