Agreed, but unfortunately, what they may deserve and what they get will likely be vastly different than what you expect. In the real world, these kinds of people rarely suffer real consequences.

That's the reason the dollar is still the standard for currency, the reason that the US is still the nation that most of the wealthy and professional class seek to migrate to, and why the US is basically unequaled in military strength and application. The US isn't perfect as is proved by Trump being president. But the US has one thing going for it that always brings the world back. The US never ceases trying to be better and when it falls, it gets up and tries again, often exceeding expectations in whatever arena it finds it's latest challenge. (Oh, and when the government is sane, it's usually the most dependable ally a nation could ask for.) Those that pivot away are welcome to leave. The best friends are the ones who want to be there, even when you're not perfect. The ones who leave were likely never your friends in the first place, they just wanted something from you.
